This is exactly what is required for the younger generation. Just saw this video, the guidelines and the advice is something I will keep close to my heart! Really grateful that all students have access to such good advice from IIT professors 💛
As a final year student confused between industrial research and grad studies, I find this discussion very enlightening and insightful, especially from the perspective of setting the right expectations. I feel blessed to have attended your Mechanics classes in person in my first year. Would love to meet and chat again before I graduate.
I have been wondering about how 'independent contributions' vs 'experience' curve works in a professional setup. Thank you so much professors for taking out time to discuss in great depths on the skills required for professional career and sharing your own experiences!!
Pertinent comments by Prof. Anandaroop. There is no concept of job security in industry these days. You need to be a life-long learner and be on your feet.
Thankyou from the bottom of my heat 🙏. I'm currently a final year mechanical engineering student and I have received so many inputs from this video about presenting ideas and leading a team. Thankyou once again
Extremely elated to hear the journey of such an accomplished and experienced engineer. UA-cam is full of interviews of superstars in the entertainment and sports fields. Engineers are also superstars in their own way. Especially the insights of what goes on in a core engineering industry must be brought to frontstage. The lack of knowledge about these experiences, roles, and challenges takes away the interest from pursuing such careers.
Actually on UA-cam we do have some interesting videos highlighting the achievements of engineers. However, by default these videos will hardly get recommended unless we start actively start searching for them. For instance, just search for Ajay Bhatt. In the Lex Fridman podcast too, there are some good examples of discussions over engineering achievements.
This is really very helpful for any of those are willing to go for R&Ds after their PhD.. thanks a lot sir..for arranging this discussion....I am sharing this to our research group members as well...
Great video thanks for uploading .... prof Bhattacharyya's lecture about heatpipe helped me alot in past as there was very limited resource on internet about this topic i glad i found his lecture 🙏
Thank your sir, this was amazing. I am student of IIT Madras and I am grateful for all the guidance you give us. Your opinion and views are truly important to us. Thank you Professor.
Dear sir, This video is the best service to our society and nation. Our future lies in the hands of next generation. Not just high level technical knowledge but better emotional intelligence and human values are needed to achieve a successful life. The race has been to accumulate wealth and name. This has diluted and poisoned the very core values. These kind of videos will definitely change the perception of our students and guide them towards better goals.
We are residents of a global village. We can share our thoughts, give and take ideas, knowledge and information. Thanks to technology! And thanks to you for using it for the betterment of mankind as a whole!
Hello Sir, I thoroughly enjoyed this first part of the interview. Seeing two professors interacting intellectually, which usually we never get to see, is simply wonderful. The way the other professor listed out the skills needed in an industry was very informative. I will make my son and daughter watch this full interview at right stage in their lives for them to become learned as well as humble and down to earth human beings. Thank you Professor 🙏🙏
Thank you sir for this highly insightful and enlightening video. Thank you for sharing your experience on the other unfortunate realities that are there. This discussion was based on Prof. Bhattacharya's experience in three companies while working in India (with a part in the US). And, it goes without saying that his experiences will not capture the entire picture across different companies. Fortunately, he had a really good experience but that may not be so elsewhere as you have pointed out.
