Aapni ekjon bengali....bengalis have a clarity of thought what they want to do in life as they are given that environment at home with truly educated parents...most students in delhi only run as a herd mentality and do not know even till end of class 12 what they actually want and they can't figure out honestly where they stand...they always need handholding
2:07 Where do you actually stand? introspect, what do you actually want what do you actually need, can it be achieved 6:07 Where do you see yourself? be open-minded, know your interest, and stick with your interest 11:00 Your Board exam is important 12:15 FInal Words, decide yourself, it's your career
This is the right use of social media. Help students question, think and find answers by themselves. This is very different from advising nonsense trying to make money like some ed tech companies and coaching centers do.
If you relate to this please comment. I took a drop this year, 2020 to 2021. Those who read this for advice, spoiler alert, I did not get into a govt college. I am writing this comment partially to make sense of my own story. Till 10th grade, I considered people who did maths and went for coaching from 7th grade to be 'other'. I was not like them. Instead, I was good at bio, litreature and social subjects. I thought about a career in law with writing on the side. But I slowly realised that I was afraid of maths. I was scared that I was 'slow', dumb or stupid. I hated that feeling....and ultimately, I felt that choosing some other subject would be like 'running away' from maths, like cowardice. So there I was in 11th, and suddenly the twist: you see my father was also in an IITian, from one of the oldest ones. People had high expectations, and soon I began to feel pressure like never before. I did the regular things, went for coaching. Studied as hard as I could while also figuring things out. Now, keep in mind, I was very weak in all these subjects. I was placed in a batch with kids who had been preparing from 6thclass. I was very lost. Regardless, I tried hard, cried a lot, and finally ended 2020 with 93%tile. It meant a lot to me.....even though it is objectively not a good score. Smack after Mains results my grandfather got corona. In the two weeks between mains results and advanced, I could do very little except survive. 10 days after Adv he passed away. It devastated me. My parents, always pushing for a drop year now became even more convinced that I should do it. Due to all the worry in my mind, I also felt that I had been cheated out of a chance to study as well as I could have. But it was ultimately too much for me. I was grieving very badly, crying a lot. I wanted to write a book to honour my grandfather, but had no time. In 2021 my family got COVID again. This time I got infected and was also very sick. I felt the after effects even 1 month after the infection. If you are reading this DO NOT IGNORE post COVID symptoms, like dizziness, headaches, nausea, please remain careful and vigilant! I was a mess. After the sickness, I was almost ready to give up. I had scored only 90%tile so far. Soon after , we found out we were getting transferred, and I had a very hard time dealing with the fact that I would be leaving the city I spent 17 years with my grandfather to go to a place where he would never come. Somehow though,I geared up and finally managed to score 93.5%tile. And that was it....I studied very hard for adv, but did not qualify. Now I'm joining a tier three private college. I feel isolated and alone. I feel like no one can understand me, because who has the background that I do? Most of my father's batchmates' children have also gone to an IIT. My failure feels like it is much bigger than that of others'; after all, my father was an IITian! How come you didn't get there? That's what people will say. I wish they knew ki IIT is not hereditary, and that no one can really help you except yourself. I feel like I have failed my family, especially my father. He always talks about the bright people at IIT, the adundance of opportunities, all the fun he had. I know what I am missing out on constantly. My future feels uncertain and shaky. More to the point, I feel very unhappy. The only solace I have is that I worked as hard as I could, through my grief, pain and ofcourse physical illness. I don't think anyone else in my position could have done more than me. If you made it till here, thanks for reading. Also as a reminder to myself and others: exams do not define your worth. A pics of advice: do not make big life decisions when you are grieving. Please take care of your health. Physical and mental. Do not be afraid to seek help when you need it. Thank you jc sir, the video was very informative to me....because you make several great points that I think everyone should consider, especially about being extremely specific about what needs to fixed in the drop year. I also thank you for providing a space to share my story.
I feel you man , I'm also a dropper and after hard work i still hasn't scored good. I feel depressed , i don't wanna do anything, i feel like a bird being crushed in someones hands . I hope everything becomes better for you and everyone
Listen, I think only a very small percentage of kids scored as per their potential this year after 2 years of pandemic and online classes. Kids who expected 99 percentile got 96 percentile, kids who expected 96 got 92 and so on. You are in very good company. Try not to brood on missed opportunities and just take your dad's anecdotes at face value- don't take it personally. Tier 3 college can be a Tier 1 college for you, if you use all the opportunities to catapult yourself to success. You tried, you failed, now pick yourself up and move on. Your life will be as bright and aspirational as any iitian's once you find your passion and follow it. Keep your chin up and move on cheerfully!
Your story got me thinking about mine and all my choices that led my life uptil here . You are resilient , i must say .. I disappointed my parents a lot and even myself .. sometimes I wish if i had been more tough more prepared maybe things would hav been different ..., , But it is what it is .. There is no point in having regrets .. I took a lot of things for granted and iam unsure what to even pursue .. i have no clue about my passion... i just wish we could be friends ..all the very best to your future and no worries .. we will get tons of opportunities ahead to make the most out of life !
Excellent advise Prof. JC. Would add 5 points / qualifiers; 1. Only a very very small minority of students at class 12th stage have figured out completely what they want to do and then a very small minority within this already miniscule group actually end up there, as multiple uncertain factors come into play with passage of time. So, please do not model your life upon these choices, ONLY. 2. Drop a year at maximum only in case as a student you are very very sure of what actually you can do different in the drop year to qualify for IIT, and that too for a niche branch. 3. Taking a long view of your career, this 1 additional year at the end of your working career could also translate into that coveted promotion / you getting paid your highest salary for that year which could be very high considering that you have made it to the top of your desired profession with a good 35 years of experience. 4.There are many many ways to reach the top within your choice of work, IIT/NIT happens to be just 1 option and not the ONLY option. 5. Make the best utility of whatever college / branch that comes your way and continue doing your best. Lots of luck to everyone reading this😊
Sir, last year, i got 90.07 percentile and didn't even clear cutoff for jee advanced. This year, i got 99 percentile in jee mains february attempt, got into jadavpur university with electrical engineering, and now got admission in iit kgp.
True sir , dropping a year worked for me because I didn't study anything above cbse board level , I had -6 marks in jee main maths , next year I got a 4371 rank in advanced , and I took ECE in DTU , this was back in 2015.
Sir please give advice for non-IITians who couldn't make it into IIT to do good in other institutions with respect to higher education and placements.... This has been a serious problem in society for teenagers
I think this video is not only for JEE aspirents . It is useful for all academic exams, M.sc entrance, NET, GATE also. Because though I am not a person from engineering background ( actually Life science), I can relate with it.
Thanks for being transparent in the disclaimer in the start. Unlike so many unqualified people giving their "sage" advice, you were quite honest. much appreciated!
Those words really opened my eyes. There is so much wisdom in them. I really am not the one who is in the desperate need of this video. I haven't myself reached that stage of dilemma yet and maybe I won't. And yet, I see so many uses and applications of those little advices in other areas as well. I am sure it will help me in making rational decisions. Thank you professor.
Sir last year i watched this video of yours before dropping i had 90.1 percentile last year , this year i got 99.66 in mains and in decent enough rank in adv to get iitk/m chemical , Thank you sir
Those last minutes were true eye opening sir. Those made it crystal clear why students do physical harms of themselves. If they actually choose what they actually love like or enjoy then there is no chance that anyone have to feel like there is no hope after some point and commit something very wrong. Hats off sir. I hope your words will inspire millions. Respect and love from West Bengal.
The board exam with Jee preparation is very relatable.. Teachers and advisors always push us for Jee and boards were neglected.. which later ended with unsatisfactory scores.. It do impacts in admission in college during the tie breaker process.
Dear sir, I'm a student from IISER Kolkata (currently in third year).. Recently I have been following your channel and i find your videos really informative and I feel they can be helpful for anyone who are getting into college (or even studying in college)... I would love to know your insight on opportunities and reality for those who are aspiring to become a researcher
@@Prof_JC Yes sir, please do one on the Research opportunities that are available to the students, how do we approach that. Also on industry vs Research internships, in which years of college can we go for such things.

Thank u very much sir for reboosting my confidence! After always dreaming of getting into iits, and even after cracking jee adv when i took nit for cs(i have liking for the subject), i recently started to develop a inferiority feeling because many of my friends got admission in iits.No wonder how many students u would have talked before attaining such deep understanding about how a student feels in 1st yr.
Sir I got nit surathkal ece I did take my dream branch even though it wasn't my dream college after watching your video I have absolutely no regrets, sir really amazing video you should make more of these type of videos, please sir
Absolutely amazing proposition sir ! You must have seen many types of students who are scholar in Physics/maths/chemistry, yet say "I love CSE" when asked, bcz it's in the trend
Once again a very universal and balanced advice sir...I've got hooked on to your videos inspire of being a doctor. Would like to add that aspirants should stop getting paranoid that their life will be ruined if they dont get into IIT/AIIMS...life is not like a domino effect which will come tumbling down. You will get multiple opportunities at every stage to improve. Plus, your advice to keep an "open and flexible mind" is gold. During MBBS, I loved Surgery as a subject. I loved reading it. However 2 months of Surgery rotation during internship proved I was not built for it. In short, don't get fixated on the mental idea about a subject/department/college. Allow experience to mould your beliefs :)
But you know one thing,,,,Many people want to go for research and higher studies,,,,so if the undergraduate programme is in a great college ,,,the journey to higher studies and research will be much smoother , easier
@@Prof_JC lovely video sir. Although I am not a jee aspirant any more, it still hits home to think that there was a time when I used to sit on that desk for 8 hours a day, pondering about my life at the sacred IIT, that I unfortunately couldn't get into. But honestly I did introspect and I don't feel anything. I guess the hype of IIT never really made a place in my mind and IIT never got associated with my emotions in a way strong enough to make me drop. So here I am, joining MANIT CSE instead of IIT G civil, hoping that my parents and teachers are wrong and my decesion of taking CSE over IIT turns out to be correct. Honestly, it send shivers down my spine as I think about a future me regretting and coming in my dreams, crying, begging to take the other way to life. But now the judgement is done and decesion taken. And I can only hope for a sweet tommorow now.
like woah i was just wasting some of my time over youtube and ive my physical education board exam tom , but when u reminded that ur boards marks do matter in academia , im goig to start revising now , like that was surely not the take away from this video , but somewhat it hit me Thanks a tonne sir
Thank you so much sir.... 🙏 We are so blessed to know the real facts you mentioned in the video. If possible, please bring such videos in your free time please don't say it last. Because we don't have proper guidance from the last 2 years due to lockdown and due to lack of knowledge we are suffering in our preparation time.. If possible please help us we will be so grateful.. 🙏
No one can explain better than this. One should take all the major decisions like course, career, marriage in their life based on their choice/wish, otherwise it will become a lifetime regret, which is so true.
It is so nice now there are so many ways/information, a potential student can determine what they want and fits their profile. Forty years back; I had no clue what I should do after high school and went by someone saying I should apply for IIT. I applied and was selected. At the counselling session, a professor recommended to enroll in Mechanical engineering and went with that. Did decently well but again went with the trend at that time to go to USA. After MS, started as a design engineer and within a year my manager asked me to get involved with finance. I liked that area and after that never worked as an engineer and have done well in career. My advice is to be open to any suggestion, be surrounded with people who are knowledgeable and be willing to try anything.
Currently studying in 12th.....gave my 3rd paper of term 1 (cbse)today........ Never decided would end up loving IIT...... For me it was never a choice..... But circumstances and the responsibilities which I recognised I've as the eldest child in my family ,I have decided to crack it.......... For me 'upsc' was the first choice.... But soon realized that when I'm having a chance to test my potential and get a rank.... Then why shouldn't I try it?...... Questioned myself that would I be able to do it? The answer to my surprise was "yes"..... As I got the real motivation born from the grief which my family members had gone through in their lives......and I have the ability to change their lives..... So why shouldn't I try it..... But was in a dilemma whether I'm doing right or wrong as first upsc and then jee..... Am I not focussed and not able to stick to one goal.......? Many questions in mind, suddenly I realized that suppose if get a good rank and my desired department then after few years I can give upsc as well..... In this way I'll be able to support my family financially as well as I'll be able to pursue my passion (upsc)....... With this.... Just 2-3 months in hand....... Straight after term 1, have planned to exhaust myself and prepare for jee in the given time....... I just want to know from you sir ,"am I on the right track? Or should I drop and start it from scratch? Will I be able to crack it this time?"......I'm not afraid of failing! Just this questions are making me anxious more and more as the date of mains is coming near up. Kindly help me please!!🙏
Mains exams have postponed.Congrats to you and me even.I must say u have got enough time to prepare for jee.Be confident.Dont lose hope. You are capable of it.All the best👍
jee might not be the end of our career sir, but not being able to make it through Jee advance will surely certainly deprive us of the opportunity to learn from such an amazing teacher as you and although that doesn't limit a student's potential, but maybe the student would have ended at a better place had he gotten that chance....the problem with india is unlike the western countries quality education isn't democratized...and iits are one of the very few places which guarantees this...as a result a student having a keen interest in a subject who might not perform well in jee gets eliminated
Sir I'm preparing for JEE with self study is hard...but i hope I'll make it But I don't easily trust the UA-cam JEE strategies and Quora answers in my preparation. So always in confusion and overthinking Thank you very much sir for making this video and guiding us, hope to receive more guidance from you for Aspirants and counseling - JEE 2022 Aspirant(dropper)
You are such a good speaker professor Only professor who I have heard since money heist season 5 Thanks sir I ll reconsidery decision of dropping as being a pcm student I have a keen interest towards civil service
the thing that i like about your videos is that it is always on point, i am also a successful dropper who clear both jee main and advanced last year too but got better rank this year only and got branch of my interest, with my jee adv score i could've got in a iit but those iits would've been the newer ones like iit mandi or older iits other branches i am not interested in but after lots of discussion i chose nit suratkhal karnataka mechanical engineering ,very good nit with nirf rank 10 and great placement and campus and i am quiet happy with my decision .
Hello prof.jc Vedant here ! this year my performance :- i got 96 percentile in jeemains 98.21 %ile in mhtcet my advanced went terrible i am thinking of joining coep pune this year i have recognised my problems and would work on it for next year alongside college . this is my last video related to stratergy , now i am going to focus on myself . thanks for your genuine guidance .
You can probably nowhere get; atleast I don't know whether I have ever. (See whom u r listening to) Logical to the point Learnings:- • 12th Board matters • Analyse ur present before 💧ing • IIT tag okay, but there's world beyond. • As 17-18 yr old kid, u can barely hve a mature, stable interest. So pursue whatever finally u get. #Regret exists only in your head.🙄🙏❤️ 💡And Many more; I would say; Listen carefully each of sir's🙏 words.🙏🙏
Each and every word of this wise professor is correct to the greatest possible accuracy in context of this thought process which builds up for JEE. I would just like to add one more point: As the professor correctly said that some students definitely need to rethink and reconsider their decision to give compt. exams, i.e. to become engineers, sometimes I think it is the fault of the school's from where they complete their class 10. After that, in many schools , you can simply take up science ( no matter why you decided so), or perhaps admission to such stream is granted on basis of class 10 Board results - which are nothing near to a science "aptitude " exam. Hence some students who think will do science in plus 2 , end up getting frustrated and perhaps study in some private colleges or do something else, but anyway, what I strongly believe is that after class 10 , the schools must conduct an ADMISSION TEST , FOR ANY CANDIDATE WHO WANTS TO TAKE UP ANY STREAM . SO FOR SCIENCE STREAM , AN ADMISSION TEST SHOULD BE CONDUCTED WHICH MUST MEASURE THE FOLLOWING FEATURES: 1.)TRUE APTITUDE OF THE STUDENT TOWARDS PCM 2.) ACCURACY, SPEED, AND PRECISION IN ANSWERING GOOD QUALITY PROBLEMS OF PCM 3.) ANALYTICAL ABILITIES 4.) OBJECTIVE APPROACH TOWARDS MCQ PROBLEM SOLVING 5.) CONCEPTUAL CLARITY 6.) TIME MANAGEMENT , BY PLACING TIME CONSTRAINTS IN THE EXAM THE RESULTS OF SUCH A STANDARD ADMISSION TEST TO CLASS 11 SHOULD COME OUT AS RANK, WITH A GOOD CUTOFF , WITHIN WHICH SCIENCE STREAM ADMISSION FOR CLASS 11 WILL BE TAKEN. THIS WILL NOT ONLY HELP THE STUDENTS WHO GET THROUGH THIS EXAM WITH A GOOD RANK, BUT ALSO BE AN EYE OPENER FOR THOSE WHO WERE SEEING A MIRAGE OF TAKING UP SCIENCE STREAM. THIS WILL BOOST ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF THE SELECTED STUDENTS AND HELP THE ONES WHO DIDN'T QUALIFY, TO REALISE THEIR TRUE INTEREST , BECAUSE AS HAWKING SAYS, " WE ALL ARE GOOD AT SOMETHING OR THE OTHER". MY SCHOOL CONDUCTED SUCH AN ADMISSION TEST , FOR WHICH I AM VERY HAPPY AND GRATEFUL. THIS TYPE OF ELIMINATIONS WILL SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE HUGE COMPETITION FOR JEE, BY DRASTICALLY REDUCING THE NO. OF CANDIDATES, AS NOW ONLY STUDENTS WITH A TRUE APTITUDE AND LOVE FOR SCIENCE WILL THINK OF APPEARING IN JEE, and come out with flying colours.
I absolutely agree with you. Although I liked science bin 10th and I am able to do well in both Maths and Chemistry, I realised I'm not up for Physics. Had I given such test for Science Stream I would have known if it was really Science that I wanted to pursue. Maybe I wouldn't have suffered so much. I still don't feel like studying Science. I'm good at it, but it's a drag. I'm in 12th and there's no going back.
@@gaurigoyal5744 You have an advantage that you are good in two subjects, think of people who are not good in pcm, but genius in Computer Science- they actually get killed by this education system of India. And , it is a very negative thought to bear in mind that " you are not up to Physics". If you think like this, it will degrade your own confidence . You have to have a positive bend of mind in every negative situation. And as for physics, well it is " Fun with a big challenge !". The main reason 95% of high school students fear physics is because they are either not able to solve difficult problems or the concepts go over their head( that's what some people think). But the secret to enjoy Physics is the fact that you will never be hanged if you can't solve a problem. Instead have fun in learning it . You may not pursue a career in physics, but why not enjoy it for 2 years ,!If you're stuck in a problem, simply try solving it again, and most importantly have faith in yourself .As Swamiji says " If you have faith in yourself, even MOUNTAINS CAN BE CRUSHED TO ATOMS".
Thank you sir,for making me realise that the promise i make to myself of working hard next year is not a dream but fantasy. I am getting a decent college this year but am not able to let go of my temptation for an IIT. I thought i didn't get it because of lack of hardwork but your words has made me introspect and rethink my choice of dropping a year.
I must admit that it feels good to get such nice comments from the student community. But at the end of the day if I can somehow be assured that some students have started thinking in a more mature way after seeing these videos, then I would feel really happy.
Sir, this is excellent advice. I am sharing all your videos with my brother who is just starting college. I agree with your points. My case was the opposite though. Unfortunately I scored too good. Since my childhood, I have always been interested in space. Therefore I wanted to study Aerospace Engineering at IIT Kanpur. But I scored too well in JEE Advanced. Due to societal pressure, I ended up taking Computer Science at IIT Patna. But I was never satisfied with the courses because I did not have much passion for the subject. But on the side I kept nurturing my passion by working on interdisciplinary robotics projects. In fact, I have more friends from electrical and mechanical than CS. Now that I have graduated from IIT Patna, I have managed to realize my dream by accepting a Research Associate position at the Aerospace Engineering Department at IIT Kanpur. Next year, I plan to get admitted to the PhD program. It was really difficult switching streams from CS to AE. I am the only person I know who has done this. Coming from a CS background, it feels weird being amongst Aerospace and Mechanical engineers, but it is worth it to be able to do what you love.
I must commend you on your bold choice. If you stick steadfastly to it, I really believe you can carve out a unique profile for yourself which will be extremely valuable to the industry.
@@Prof_JC Thank you sir! Yes, I am witnessing that there is a lot of applications of CS in aerospace, specially in control systems. I really think that as a CS graduate I can uniquely help in this aspect.
I scored 95%ile last year and dropped; this year I scored 99 and I also got CS in JU. But IIT Kgp has _always_ been my dream. But now 36 days before the exam, I don't think I will make it. It's very painful.
Btw, bro how did you study in your drop year? Did you join any coaching or By self studying? And did you take partial drop? Actually I need these as I am planning to take a drop for JEE 2023
@@queen_of_hell939 thanks bro...I took coaching from FIITJEE and I also took admission in a government college. But since I was getting 150-160 in mock tests, I left the college in February. If you want to take a drop, do it very seriously...you can do it. Best of luck!

Thank you for the very kind words. I guess the fact that I have actually gone through the same stages in life together with being from a very middle class family helps me empathize.
jee advance attempts must be increased to 3 times .......break old beliefs and myths about blocking seats ragging poor placement ..........we want justice like NEET UG
Rethink: "Bcz the word HARD WORK is not actionable. It's just a hope. It's fantacy....." Nothing is 100%; But 99.9 % is also 100% ; And this was the same.🙏🎤✅
Greetings sir, I just discovered your channel. I've just graduated in mech for Manipal Jaipur. I love design and thermal, both of them use tensors a lot at higher level. I want to get my self famalier with tensors, I was deriving navier stokes and concept of traction vectors and etc caught me off guard. Sir please give any tips and recommendations. I also plan to study your course on advance solid mechanics
If you wish to learn about tensors, index notation in a relatively simple way, then I suggest that you go through my Applied Elasticity playlist (instead of Advanced Mechanics of Solids). Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/TANFCoXVM9Q/v-deo.html
Sir I started preparing for JEE 2021 way back in April , 2019 after my boards got over . I joined a local coaching in Jharkhand. Initially things seemed to be easy but then I got a smartphone. Simultaneously my school started which meant that I had to work hard to manage everything . Things got messed up and I started preparing just via UA-cam I started getting 40-50 marks in 11th grade . I was studying but that just wasn't enough . After wasting the 11th grade , I started really positively in 12th grade but during mid March , COVID arrived . I got too much distracted . And wasted the whole year . 2020 was completely wasted . In 2021 January , Pre Board -1 was conducted . 9/70 - Chemistry and Physics , Mathematics - 15/80 . I tried to manage somehow but my distraction didn't stop . Somehow with God's grace I passed the second pre Boards but now the boards got postponed . I planned to drop early but my distraction and amidst all the postponement, 4 more months passed . October 7th , I was in Kota and the classes began . The pace was too high for me because my basics were not clear . I was again suffering , backlogs started piling up . I stopped giving tests . I did homeworks at times but never regularly. April 16th , I am back in Jharkhand. Confidence is negative . I just keep searching for carrier and stuff daily . I have WBJEE through which I might get a private college but my confidence level for the JEE mains which is just a week later is tending to negative . How should I approach life sir ? I just keep feeling like a loser every now and then .
same story with me, 12th results are coming in next few weeks , i just somehow managed the boards & given my first attempt , in which i would score around 30 marks only.....now i am completely hopeless , i was very good at acadmics till class 10th ( scored 93%) but 12th exam gone too bad ( expecting around 70%) .....not performing in comptitive exams too.....................feeling like my life is already ruined.
I did so many mistakes, i couldn't believe i qualified for advanced. Like not following a sleep schedule, not proper revision, gave only a few tests, completely left inorganic, did not attend classes. Going to adress these all in drop year and so far, everything is going pretty good
Exactly what I wanted! Not some tips about how to manage your time and how much to study etc. I wasn't able to perform well in JEE mains 2022 because of several family problems that rose up due to the pandemic and now have decided to stake one more year on my preparation now that no such problems are there in the foreseeable future.
sir, I have decided my passion and curiosity at age 10 year old to become Inventer scientist now I am 12th pass out. I am taking drop to deeply understand about the pure of math and physics uses and also preparing for Entrance exam. why I am taking drop because teacher just memories the facts and formula, I got just got tired memories the stuff, Teachers kills my inner curiosity of asking question I don't love how they teach us science and math subjects. I am the guy how loves to experiment with physics and math formula and I love how things works with math and science. After taking drop my understanding in math and physics curiosity has been improved and I do experiments what I learnt in real life basses and in Equipements. I love physics, Math, and Engineering. later I will take Engineering. youtube recommended your video i just watch
Sir, I beg to differ. I am a dropper who scored a mere 27 percentile in the previous year's jee mains examination, it was my highest and this year I've scored 97 percentile which I know isn't decent enough but still I'd say it's much better than 27 percentile. But I do understand that not everyone clears the cut and those who found themselves discouraged after watching video have probably taken a wise decision if theu decided to not take a drop. Looking forward for more content from this channel
Thank you Prof. Jeevanjyoti. Your first name is so meaningful with your advice and guidance. Do appreciate your advice. Life is much more than a tag of any brand or price band. But one has to go through all these experiences to be able to develop an understanding about life. After all divorce is only possible after marriage (pun intended). Let the rat race be limited to the rats only. Human race is all about humanity.
Thnx sir you really gives us genuine reviews I got 95% in 10th 96% in 12 I cleared jee I enjoyed doing ds algo problems Not getting my branch CSE/IT in any nit s So I took admission in state govt college BIT sindri
An IIT degree is not worth the effort, our education system is fucked up the earlier you realize this the better. I work at a FAANG+ company and 6/11 of my manager's direct reports are from tier 3/no name colleges. Grinding leetcode helped me more than my IIT degree in getting a software job. I can't emphasize enough how useless the hustle for top colleges is in this country. As long as you are dedicated and willing to learn, FAANG isn't some pipe dream, it's easily attainable and they are hiring so many tier 3 college students these days. In addition FAANG is barely a benchmark, these companies are huge so their bar is actually lower than most people think since they have to hire en masse. Usually startups which have a promising future are the ones which are the most exclusive followed by top hedge funds. Also it's just sad looking at these guys waste time in useless corporates. They are the brightest minds, usually the brightest minds in other countries are at the forefront of research.
The recent placement records of IIT's kindly disagree with you. Anyone who says IIT's are overrated/not worth it don't actually value its existence. I myself haven't been able to get into an IIT, but I can definitely say that preparing for IIT's is definitely worth it and I don't regret trying to get into one. The students in IIT's make them highly reputed, not the institute itself. People get into IIT's for that peer quality. You won't find that quality in LPU, amity, sharda, or your local college. The environment you grow up in matters alot.
@@pikachu8755 I just said its not worth the effort, given the low probability of getting in. A CS degree from lnmiit will fetch you a better placement than those arbitrary IIT engineering departments. The tag no longer matters, the general convention now is: if you can clear the interview you get the job. CSE is a completely different ball game, less than 0.1% of jee aspirants get into CSE at an IIT - that's where those placement records come from. Also, those 1Cr+ packages are a scam, nothing more, nothing less. Most of them are inclusive of 4/5 year RSUs and a one time joining bonus. Microsoft and Uber include 4 year RSUs in their CTC. What seems like 1Cr isn't even 40 lakhs cash.
Thank you sir for this wonderful video. I could correlate completely since my story ran in parallel lines. In 2020 I took admission in Jadavpur University (Chemical engineering) and prepared for iit-jee simultaneously. I actually tried to maintain a balance b/w college and jee (was a 9 pointer in 1st sem...(it was more of an open book test :P) but still). Finally this year I got through jee and currently pursuing the same branch in iit guwahati (an older iit as you mentioned :) but not the oldest ones :( ). Was getting civil engineering in kgp but chose this and though was sad initially for not getting into kgp with the desired branch I'm somewhat satisfied now. I also have an interest in coding and finance. Hope that I shall have a successful career. Seeking your wishes and blessings :)
Chemistry with Finance?? Finance is completely different which requires knowledge of Accounting ( language of business) and Finance. This are specialized subjects in itself. IT + Finance is okay. Bdy I Law Student and myself struggling to get some financial knowledge as Finance is completely different.
@@mouchakquorabagchi6644 I study Chemical Engineering and not Chemistry. It's curriculum has more of physics and mathematics than chemistry. And a person may have varied interests. What's wrong in that? Just like you're a law student and wish to study finance :). Many engineering students aspire for upsc which is an exam based on humanities subjects. And humanities and engineering have no relation either :D
@@mouchakquorabagchi6644 All old iits have clubs like business clubs and other finance related clubs, where people learn extra things which excite them apart from their course study of their regular BTech. That's why most of the people in IIT s get a job which isn't of the domain of what he/she may have studied in their bachelor's degree. Many trading companies came in IIT Kharagpur and gave domestic salary above 1 crore this year. Those companies also include business analyst positions.
Thank you sir for the valuable advice. So should we not set any expectations for a particular branch now?, or during the time of counselling after doing proper research about branches and our interest prefer branch over institute. In this case it can happen that choosing our preferred branch will be at the cost of leaving old iits...... Is choosing good institute because of more exposure and brand value wrong?
in my first drop i just did theory and missed ques part i did really less ques which resulted in tremendous failure now this is my second drop and i m now good at theory and did a lot of ques practice so that i can land in a better clg than last time i was getting ♥️♥️♥️
10:35 is something that summarizes my journey. Wanted to take arts, parents didn't let me. Had to take maths. 11th flew by and i still wasn't sure how i ended up here. I'm still not sure how i ended up here but now, i try not to think about it by keeping focus on studies, but still, after 14 hours of studying everyday, when i lie down on my bed, the only thing that comes on my mind is how could've been my journey if i took arts...
When you say arts, do you mean literature, writing etc.? Or, do you mean painting, sculpting? Or, perhaps music? And are you currently in 12th science? If so and your interest is in painting, sculpting then you should seriously consider architecture. If you are interested in literature, writing ... then there is a big need of excellent science communicators ... an undergraduate in science together with a proficiency in writing is a niche expertise to have and can lead to fulfilling and exciting career. If your interest is in music then there is beautiful research field out there with people from maths, physics, and engineering backgrounds doing great work. I think if you explore the possibilities then it can lead to something truly enriching for you. I hope my words help you rethink your career in a fresh light.
@@Prof_JC By arts, I meant literature and writing. I loved writing short stories. But now, that all is gone. I already passed 12th this year and now am a dropper for pretty obvious reason; studying science as a subject never interested me. I loved reading about experiments and all theories in physics, different real life effects, but never considered taking this as a course, and yet, I'm here, trying to get in a top engineering college. But now, I've kinda convinced myself, that I'll let the tide of time take me with its flow. All I can do, is work hard in the direction I'm taken too. Also, thank you for your words sir. Getting a reply from a professor of one the best college in country is an honor.
Very useful and described what's happening in every middle class family's aspirants of IIT-JEE on the circumstances of family Pretty cool ❤️🔥 Thanks a lot sir,
Where do I actually stand? I knew nothing about the subjects, for the last 2 years I didnt study anything and just occasionally watched video lectures about the topics, eventually the exam came and I got some 3.2 lakh rank, so currently I dont know anything but i have a min of 120 days before jee mains and Its enough time to get into a good college. Where do I see myself in a year? I see myself in a good college either an IIT, NIT, DTU, or one of the good IIIT with my subject of interest i.e. computer science and I do plan to do make my career fully on the subject as from a young age i loved the subject My Board exam is important BUT ya as I didn't study at all i got 67%, well I am already enrolled as a private candidate for improvement exams, so ya that aspect is covered. Ill be updating as the results come and anyone who is reading this and is at the beginning of their jee journey, dont do what I did, I am dumb you are not, so best of luck.
Nice , I wish guys who got interest in specific subject and higher study ,they could be also guided for ISI and CMI .Coaching institute nevver guides anyone for this institute..and many guys are not aware about it

Very, very well said. And, thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to write in such a detailed way.

You are capable of it.All the best👍
so how did ur mains go ?
jee might not be the end of our career sir, but not being able to make it through Jee advance will surely certainly deprive us of the opportunity to learn from such an amazing teacher as you and although that doesn't limit a student's potential, but maybe the student would have ended at a better place had he gotten that chance....the problem with india is unlike the western countries quality education isn't democratized...and iits are one of the very few places which guarantees this...as a result a student having a keen interest in a subject who might not perform well in jee gets eliminated

You can probably nowhere get; atleast I don't know whether I have ever. (See whom u r listening to)
Logical to the point Learnings:-
• 12th Board matters
• Analyse ur present before 💧ing
• IIT tag okay, but there's world beyond.
• As 17-18 yr old kid, u can barely hve a mature, stable interest. So pursue whatever finally u get. #Regret exists only in your head.🙄🙏❤️
💡And Many more; I would say; Listen carefully each of sir's🙏 words.🙏🙏
Each and every word of this wise professor is correct to the greatest possible accuracy in context of this thought process which builds up for JEE. I would just like to add one more point:
As the professor correctly said that some students definitely need to rethink and reconsider their decision to give compt. exams, i.e. to become engineers, sometimes I think it is the fault of the school's from where they complete their class 10. SO FOR SCIENCE STREAM , AN ADMISSION TEST SHOULD BE CONDUCTED WHICH MUST MEASURE THE FOLLOWING FEATURES:
1.)TRUE APTITUDE OF THE STUDENT TOWARDS PCM
2.) ACCURACY, SPEED, AND PRECISION IN ANSWERING GOOD QUALITY PROBLEMS OF PCM
3.) ANALYTICAL ABILITIES
4.) OBJECTIVE APPROACH TOWARDS MCQ PROBLEM SOLVING
5.) CONCEPTUAL CLARITY
6.) TIME MANAGEMENT , BY PLACING TIME CONSTRAINTS IN THE EXAM
THE RESULTS OF SUCH A STANDARD ADMISSION TEST TO CLASS 11 SHOULD COME OUT AS RANK, WITH A GOOD CUTOFF , WITHIN WHICH SCIENCE STREAM ADMISSION FOR CLASS 11 WILL BE TAKEN.
@@suddhasattasaha4793 yeah I can understand. Maths I understand that it is important for computer science but I just don't get Physics and Chemistry.
