Sir I'm first year Bs-Ms student of IISER Kolkata...It's been one month here in IISER...I am scared and depressed about my academic efforts. I thoroughly follow the lectures and take my notes ..do the assignment and study what I suppose to . But after doing all this after such hectic 9 to 6 classes sacrificing co-curricular activities, I can't meet my expectations in the exams...while my batch mates after doing all the fun and other stuffs get better grades...I am feeling left-out ...can u tell what am I probably doing wrong and what I suppose to do now 😔?
I did the exact same mistake as you did in my 1st year. Please do not sacrifice all non-academic activities. Play a little, talk with your batchmates, and try to have a little fun. You will be surprised how much pressure gets offloaded from your brain just by having a little chat with some friends. If you just study all day long, your performance is bound to suffer.

Thank you. I believe maintaining a diary really helps. I used to do it in high school very regularly and during my undergraduate days, off and on. Done regularly, it gives a certain emotional vent in a very private way and at the same time helps to feel less detached from one's inner self.
in iit bhu, I have gotta share it with two other people! One understands just hindi, the other only english. I have to translate for them as I know both languages

Have joined IITM a week ago and everything that was said above is true… Mostly my 1st challenge here is to find some good friends with like mindedness… And 2nd challenge here is to get used to the academics… because the teaching style here is completely different from the jee style…
Think about 10 years ahead. Try and find people on LinkedIn who passed 10 years ago. You still see all of them have regular jobs. Love the subject as in engineering, read journals, forever be a student. But please understand apart from IT not many true engineering jobs in core. So it's ok find the next best things and read your favourite subjects in free time. Don't forget to search for people

Sir, Very Good Morning to you . Now I'm in IITG. And this video is really insightful. I'm facing issues with my time table. Quizzes, labs, classes, tutorials all seems very hectic and I also understand only 50-60% of lectures in classes and not able to complete these lectures by slides or books on the same day and even after two days. Some lectures are looking really bad like professor doesn't give us time to read that slide. Sir How to cope up with this situation as our quizzes are coming this week. Again thank you sir for this video..

However, there is no simple solution to the situation when the prof is finishing the slides at a furious pace. Actually, I had discussed the problem with using slides with someone who has done research on effective teaching methods: ua-cam.com/video/tNsRxDUWXW8/v-deo.html (But you watching this video is not going to change the prof's method!) The only thing you can do is to request the prof to share the slides with you beforehand so you can somehow keep pace in class later.

Yes, it is possible. But it is not very common. And, it is quite hard to do also. Your case may be a bit stronger if you do a number of subjects from the Mathematics department as additional side-by-side with your own department coursework.
@@nirvikpaul9603 No, I meant for higher studies: MS and PhD. We had one student in our Department (crazy genius) who did all sorts of Maths courses side by side with the Department courses. Even then initially he could not get into a Maths program abroad. But after joining there in Engineering he managed to do further Maths courses there and eventually managed to shift to a Maths program. I am talking about the US. For the UK, it could be a bit less stringent if you are aiming for PhD in applied maths. During my postdoc I came across a guy from Australia who was doing PhD in Maths despite being an engineering graduate. However, getting scholarship in the UK for a PhD is very rare for Indian students ... it is not that students of other countries are better ... but that number of nature of the scholarships are not as they are in the US.
Sir I really thank you for all your wonderful advises 😊 I see you as a student friendly and very loving❤️ teacher But some teachers give warnings to students(specially freshers )like ``After this you wont be smiling again``and' 'you need to be rusticated soon ' just on small mistakes like coming late to class, not arranging documents properly etc.. I know that being a teacher it is your responsibility to mantain proper discipline among students for that you need to be a bit strict but should it be to such a extent that it creates hatred inside a student. We even saw a example of this in famous movie "3 idiots" the guy who made drone and hoe he was treated by the principal As that's the reality that many students even use abusive languages for profs,teachers behind their back But Definitely 😊 all teachers are not like that they are very loving and caring I want to know jc sir views on that Also have you met such teachers Again thanking you for your amazing content and efforts you do for us 😊 😃

A clerk in central govt is earning far more than an iitian by way of corruption and enjoys more power ,prestige and public respect .so it is better to try for a govt job rather than iit .so many iitians are also trying for govt jobs which can be done by simple and ordinary graduates
