That dark pink canvas was so much easier for me to see on my phone! Sometimes I have trouble seeing what you are creating with those lovely pastel colors with white lettering. I'm sure it is easier to see on a laptop, but I watch you on my phone at night before bed. Just a suggestion. 😊💜
GERTRUDE ELIZABETH PORTER I’m unsure why that is, as mine shows a white color box that you can click and customize the color. Hopefully it begins working for you soon.
Yes, the eye is supposed to be closed. Once you click the layer, you can change the color at the top of the screen. Try rewatching the tutorial to see where the color selections are located, it’s not very obvious in Design Space!
GERTRUDE ELIZABETH PORTER it is supposed to have a line through the eye and one you click the Blank Canvas you can change the color at the top of the screen.
@@Bethadilly I am having this same issue as Gertrude. I've been using Cricut Design Space for almost 2 years now, so I know my way around more or less. Even though I am clicking on the blank canvas to change the color, the color options do not appear (as they always have before because I always change my canvas color). Clicking on the eye with the line through it does nothing as well. I thought maybe it was just an error or glitch with the project I am currently working on, so I went and checked about 5 old projects of mine. Apparently I can no longer change the color on any canvas in any of my projects. I've tried searching Google for anyone having this same issue, but no answers yet. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Cricut Design Space software, but that did not work. I'm going crazy here because I truly dislike working on white backgrounds. Any ideas???
Krys G I’m sorry you’re experiencing trouble with this! You may want to reach out to Cricut for tech support, as I just tested my own Design Space and it’s working for me. You shouldn’t have to click on the eye button at any point in changing the canvas color. Hope it’s working for you soon!
Thank you, never knew about this option and have watched more than 100 youtube videos to learn about cricut and design space.
Glad it was helpful!
ooo fancy... that makes it so much easier to see if I am lined up!
I've been a Cricut user for years now and never knew this. Thank you!
Great information! AGAIN, thank you so much for all of your great tutorials!
Of course!
very helpful and easy to understand
Thanks for your videos, I learned alot.
I did not know that was what the canvas square was for. You have helped me in just seconds do what I have been working on. Thanks!!!
I didn’t know this could be done. Thanks, again, for teaching more about Design Space!
You’re very welcome!
This helped a bunch!! I had to watch "how to change my canvas color" videos before I found yours that actually did help. Thanks a bunch!!!
I’m so happy to hear that, Toni! Glad this was helpful for you!
Thanks for these little tips n tricks - they are always so easy to follow.
You’re so welcome! I want everyone to know how to use Design Space the best way they can!

Phones can be very difficult. Sometimes I find that reducing the exposure on my phone helps a lot!
Thanks for making this video. It helped me to change my background color.
I’m so glad, Cathy!
Very Helpful and straight to the point! Thank you so much
This was so helpful! Thanks!
Thank you very much!
Thank you !!!
Oh wow, this is fantastic!! Great tip!
I've always wondered if this was a possibility...you are so helpful. Thank you!
Yay! And with just a couple clicks! Easy!
Thank you
I tried to figure this out yesterday but finally gave up. Thanks to you I know now!
I’m so glad, Denise! It’s not a very obvious button in Design Space, is it?
Thanks for the info.:)
I always wondered how to do that! 😊
Darlene Krisak so easy and helpful when designing!
Thank you so much for this 🌹
Well this is a very helpful tip!!
I’m so glad!!
Cool tip!
Thank you!
Can this be done on the iPad?
Thank you, I didn’t know that was an option. Do you know if it can be done using the app? I tend to work from my iPad in our loft ☺️ x
Jacqui Drinkwater it’s very handy! I’m unsure of the other versions, as I only work on the desktop!
Bethadilly I’ll have a little look and see ☺️ x
Can this be don’t on iPad or iPhone. My layers panel doesn’t have that option
How do you change the mat color on the cutting page. It’s always black and hard to see what I’m about to cut.
The mat color is dependent on your project color, so you just change the colors of your font or project. :)
@@Bethadilly that’s what I’ve been doing but seems like a default to a light colored mat would be better.,
THANK YOU FOR THE PROMPT REPLY. BUT WHEN I CLICK ON WHITE CANVAS THE ENTIRE TOP IS WASHED OUT AND YOU SEE NOTHING.
GERTRUDE ELIZABETH PORTER I’m unsure why that is, as mine shows a white color box that you can click and customize the color. Hopefully it begins working for you soon.
I have always wondered what that blank canvas button was, lol
Now you know! Glad this was helpful!
I CALLED CRICUT AND THEY TOLD ME WHERE TO LOOK FOR THE BUTTON TO CHANGE COLOR ALL IS WORKING FINE NOW.
Mine doesn't bring up the colors. It has the eye closed on the blank Canvas.

It’s not an option on mobile device iOS iphone
THE BLANK CANVAS HAS A LINE DRAWN THRU THE EYE AND I CANNOT CHANGE IT NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I CLICK ON BLANK CANVAS
