  • After the dazzling excesses reached their flamboyant apex with the outlandish fins of the 1959 Cadillac line, the 1960 Cadillacs were introduced with a cleaner, yet still striking design. Though the iconic tail fins were only about an inch shorter than the peak height of the previous year, they used a more subtle bladed tail-lamp design that blended into the trailing edge of the fin, as opposed to the previously utilized twin “bullets” that protruded from the sides. Other design upgrades included a revised full-width grille and the elimination of the pointed bumper guards seen before. These revisions, as well as the rest of the styling updates, made for a cleaner design that, while restrained compared to what had come before, was still very much “the life of the party.” The Eldorado was the top-level passenger-car series and was divided into three subseries: the Eldorado Seville two-door hardtop, the Eldorado Brougham and the Eldorado Biarritz convertible. These machines featured bright lower body-sill trim that extended into the fender skirts, specific Eldorado badging and an upgraded level of standard equipment, including remote-control trunk lock, six-way power bench front seat, radio with antenna and rear speaker, air suspension and power door locks, among other exclusive features. This beautifully restored 1960 Eldorado Biarritz Convertible is an exquisite example of this rare breed of automobile. It is one of just 1,285 produced that year and features the 390/345 HP Cadillac V-8 with tri-power induction, Hydra-Matic transmission, power steering, power brakes, factory air conditioning, power windows and vent windows, power antenna, Autronic Eye (automatic headlamp high-beam dimmer), cruise control and clock.

For those of us who can't afford $200-$300K+ for this car, please buy the 1960 sales brochure. I just got it the other day and it's just so GLAMOROUS!! The side photos are amazing shots of the idle rich of the time!

1960 Cadillac Biarritz Convertible! One of my favorite Cadillacs! Not to crazy about those bucket seats! Reminds me of a 1960 Cadillac Biarritz Convertible I let get away! I still kick myself! Not to many years ago I spoke with a man in MN who had a 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible! Triple Black! He told me it’s been in storage for about 25 years or so. Waiting for a restoration! Said he had too many projects going on and needed to downsize! So I asked him to send me some pics of the undercarriage, trunk, engine area etc. My thinking was that it’s a rust bucket! However for the most part the car looked solid! He said the Cadillac spent most of it’s life in southern CA! Original floor pans, a little rust around the convertible top area but no major rust! Only surface rust! I was surprised! The undercarriage was in great shape! You could still see the original black undercoat from the factory in some areas. The chrome was a little beat up and rusted. That’s to be expected. It would need to be repaired and re-chromed. Overall the Cadillac needed a total ground up restoration to bring it back to its original glory! At this point I didn’t even care to ask how many miles are on the odometer!
He was asking $30K. I’m sure I could have talked him down to $25K. For the most part that’s still not a bad price! Then I did some quick math in my head. At least $20K to re-do all the chrome. At least $15K to $20K to rebuild the original engine, transmission, suspension and upgrades. The interior needed to be cleaned and maybe redo the foam padding under the leather seats. The leather seats looked worn but no cracks or holes! What a surprise! The dashboard was in excellent condition! No cracks! The convertible top was tattered and baked well done in the California sun! It would need to be replaced. It’s a Cadillac so a repaint is a must do! Black Cadillacs are hard to paint! One mistake and the entire car suffers! New tires, brakes, upgrades etc. are a must do! In my head I’m saying to myself, I’d have to spend in excess of $95K to make this Cadillac road worthy! I then asked myself, would it be worth it? Recently I saw one that sold for $170K! I wish I would have bought that Cadillac and had it restored! However I never buy a car to restore and sell! I buy because I love Cadillacs! Especially a convertible!

That was spectacular. I hadn't seen one with factory bucket seats. 1960 is one of my favorite years of Cadillac. When I was in high school (class of '68) our family car was a '60 Fleetwood Seventy-Five Limousine. Yes, I liked it. Even going to the beach.

OH MY GOSH ! IM IN LOVE !
I distinctly remember this car my Mother had. I was always fascinated by the bullet eye on the top front dash & ofcourse the fins!
Look at the detail work on this beauty- I'm in love- I got to ride in almost all the 60's+70's Cadillac's! Learned to drive on a sexy red Eldorado convertible in the early 70's! I was super duper blessed back then & remain the same!
    THANK YOU JESUS!

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by
reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated
central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all
the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per
minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned
too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and
gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on....
So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They
even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke
    crime.:-((
