Aesthetically speaking, probably my favorite MJ game. Smooth, explosive and just incredibly skilled. Perfectly captures why he was the GOAT.

Small things and fundamentals are what made MJ the GOAT. Look at 8:26 how he starts his small hop step BEFORE catching the pass, which allows him to have multiple options when he catches it and lands - he could have either jumped up and shot it, used either foot as a pivot to execute fakes or spin back off of for the fadeaway jumper, or jump in any direction to lay the ball in. Or, as he did here, go up strong and dunk it. Amazing ability to read defenses and give himself multiple options.

I would never watch a basketball game again if I could go back in time and watch this game at the arena.

1:15 today the announcers would go insane and sell how "unbelievable" that pass was
1:23 NO perimeter player plays D in the post like that today
2:14 2 easy dribbles from half court, greatest hands ever! dunk!
2:39 always goes away from the double team. NO PLAYER TODAY can turn left shoulder and make this shot consistently
    2:48 foul today!
3:01 foul today on the perimeter
3:24 NO PLAYER TODAY can make that move hard dribble adjust with ease to the left hand and finish
3:57 if there's a player today that can 1 dribble and dunk on someone in the lane from 20 ft out , SHOW ME.
4:29 analytics say thats a horrible
Jordan might have wanted to put on a show for Magic.
7:46 spin move 1 dribble throw down off the baseline. NO ONE does that today!
but this happens when Jordan plays a bad team

Dkouts57 That's because the difference between today's player. And those in that time, Those player's we're in Awe of Michael Jordan. And you can tell by they're body language towards him. But can you blend them...Shidd, We've never seen a player remotely close to what he's doin just in this video alone. And he played this way for his entire career!

to show how dominant of a game this is
if we just set the baseline for 46pts - 9reb- 9ast and nothing else
& we compared among legendary and great players where the stats are 100% reliable in terms of being on record.
(disregarding the myths of the 60s & 70s)
We can get a sense of how amazing this feat really is
    # of times INCLUDING the playoffs the player has gone for 46-9-9
Jordan: 3x (only one to do it in playoffs),
    Lebron: 2x with a 50-9-9
Bird: 2x ( both Triple Doubles & last one at 35 years old, his last year, 2 blown achilles & a busted back)
Westbrook: 2x already in a short career
    McGrady: 2x
    Wade: 1x with a 50-9-9
    Vince: 1x
Curry, Durant, ball dominant Harden, Drexler: all have never done it.
Kobe: ZERO in 1566 games! & he was a dominant force.
pretty incredible how rare and spectacular

If he didn't take that hop step before the catch, and instead caught in one the move while cutting, all he could have done was tried to lay it in directly ahead of him, take a running jumper off one foot, or perhaps done a Rondo-style ball fake and spin back the other way for a fadeaway. Suffice it to say that none of those options are as high percentage as the options he had off the hop step, and he had more options after the hop step on top of that. Brilliant, intuitive player.
