  • Wondering if your ISP does know that you have made a VPN connection. Do you know what a dns leak is? In this video I will explain how a DNS leak can mean your ISP can still see what you are doing online, even your VPN on.

    Its becoming more and more important to protect your privacy online. This can easily be done using a Virtual Private Network. A Virtual Private Network allows you to stay anonymous and stay safe online. This means your ISP can’t monitor you and can’t throttle any of your applications

    This doesn't show how to correct a DNS leak. It only shows the usage of a VPN and how to check if they are leaking or whether they are incorrectly configured. Incorrect configurations can usually be traced to the DNS setting in your operating system's network manager client or the DNS resolver settings or in your router's DNS configuration---which has nothing to do with your VPN client software.

      @@tonys5968 sure, regarding the letters from the ISP, I have gotten 6 already (AT&T), in a period of three years, the last one was this week. They are now saying they may terminate my service, and if they do, I can't re-sign after 1 year. This is why i did further investigation and found that the damn qbitorrent was the culprit. Going forward though, I am canceling my AT&T service, and re-sign, so that I can get a brand new router public IP, the current one can't be changed, is a dynamic IP, but never changes, they have sent me two different modems and still issues the same IP, so the only option is to cancel and re-sign.

    Had some funny results using leaktest so I double check with doileak.com which also includes extra tests for webrtc leaks, it's been recently updated to top10vpn.com. Also if you want that extra layer of security I used simple DNScrypt on windows. I figured if your already using an encrypted tunnel like a VPN then why not encrypt the DNS too. Hope it helps others.

      Lol, Vpn. Just in case you get dns leaks. Change your dns 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 to catch those leaks so your ips provider won't see them. The dns is.....just in case the vpn fails to hide location and logs. Cloud flare logs get deleted every 24 hours. No evidenced to track you down.

    Correct me if I’m wrong please. 5minutes 18sec into video you describe how the dnsleak has found your cloud fare dns server,, as you don’t use you isp,s dsn. And also your isp doesn’t see your searches as it’s through a 3rd party dns cloud fare,🤔. So that been said isn’t this in itself a way not too let your own isp see what your doing 🤔kind of a vpn? I’d be happy just changing my dns settings in my router too cloud fare or google. Public browsers. Please clarify. Many thanks

    • @TechDoctorUK
      @TechDoctorUK  3 роки тому +1

      You are correct that your ISP will not see your DNS search queries if you use a public DNS. However, as your ISP is responsible for routing your traffic, they can still see which endpoints / websites etc you have connected to. If you use a VPN, as you create that encrypted tunnel, they will not be able to see the contents of your traffic.
