- Georgia's parliament has voted in the first reading to approve a controversial law that has sparked mass protests in the country. The bill, which would require media and non-commercial organisations to register as being under foreign influence if they receive more than 20 percent of their funding from abroad, has been denounced by opponents as "the Russian law" due to similar legislation in Russia. “When the law that is used is a copy of the law that President Putin has imposed upon Russia with the success that we’ve seen: no more non-governmental organisations, no more opposition … that is not a future that the Georgian population is ready to accept,” Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili told FRANCE 24.

Did we have this kind of laws in the US? Should we call it the US law instead of Russian laws
Absolutely correct,, 👍
It is a copy of the US "Foreign Agent Registration Act".
Georgian people choose EU! Georgian people choose equal rights for all of the minorities! Georgian people choose happy, European future! Thank you to the president Zourabichvili for her diligent work and effort for our nation, for our country, for our future!
brainwashed Georgians believe in the false European promises ...you will never be in the EU....
President Salome, so proud of you for being such a brave leader!
President Salome Zourabichvili stay strong
I don't want vandalism and this woman to represent Georgia. There was also a rally in support of the law, but I didn't see a video on UA-cam, maybe because it was much bigger.
good for national security. they dont want another ukr/nuland incident
The bill is very average for a country USA has it and Britain and turkey have the same
@@jessehoekstra849although it's not the same
When your term is ending? No chance to be reelected.
Amazing woman and the only one who speaks the truth!
Thank you, Salome. The only politician in our country who does something.
Go Georgians, be organized, build your local production line and create more jobs and use tex money to build a strong economy and military.
Unacceptable.
The Foriegn Agents Registration Act (FARA) A disclosure statute enacted in 1938 was designed to limit the influence of Foreign governments and foreign propaganda in the United States. Congress is looking to update this legalisation and strengthen it's enforcement Source Nicholas Robinson Legal advisor International center for non profit law This is what the proposed Georgian law is based
Actually, it's identical to the American law.
It's not
Its actually a copy of the US FARA law but US don't like it in other countries because it exposes US medaling
This lady is a true leader.
Her struggle should not be so difficult. I will ask point blank, are lawmakers being corrupted by Russia to support this bill?
I'm supporting Georgia to EU is better their lifestyle will more happily. Russia law will give a hard life and no freedom... Don't allow Russia Putin are bad influence abd worse negative!!
Georgian economy doesn't exist without Russia.
not only her. also George Soros is not happy.
shame on russia
Isn’t she the mother of France 24 "Gorgeous"Stani? True, Georgia is bullied by Russia since it invaded and still occupies south Ossatia (?).
She is trying to spin it. The law is about any government party getting more than 20% money have to file as foreign agents. The usa has the same laws. 20% is already alot. EU and the usa want to medal in Georgia affairs and pull another ukraine. Its quite plain to see. The interview did ask the right questions .
It's actually a copy of US law.
You spelled ruzzia wrong
No, really. Look up Foreign Agents Registration Act 1938@@ilostmyutubeaccount
It's not, Ivan, and you know it.
@@Gv2882 Just a little bit of research is enough to find out the truth. But you don't bother. The US law is from 1938. Do your research before you talk rubbish.
The 'European Future' for Georgia is with Russia. The alternative is balkanisation and a dysfunctional rump state. Georgia needs to understand that geography is destiny, Russia is going nowhere, America is not in Europe, the UK is an island, and the EU's collective military might is pitiable.
Why be against this law unless if you dont want people to see your true donors, which want to influence internal politics.
People have spoken and country belongs to its citizens
I wish my Sakartvelo to be free as kavkaz eagle one day instead of service center for other countries.
Her English with French accent is better then her Georgian “president”
Of course you want Georgia to be the “Кавказ”🤡 Will never happen, Ivan.
and her Georgian with French accent is beautiful🥰
Georgian foreign agent law is a copy of the Russian law which is a copy of American law.
Madam President is delusional if she believes that Georgia will become a member of either EU or NATO. Maybe in around 200 years..
Who is she , bear it or go out
USA has a foreign agent law 🤔 is it Russian law 😂
ok mr. peskov
It is not the same thing. US law is against enemies, not friends.
@@vavag9365 mr. George Soros is also not happy.
@@napoleonbonaparte4396 "France 24 is a French public broadcast service" Do you see that under the video lol? Is France a friend or an enemy?
@@napoleonbonaparte4396 LOL, the people who have been jailed under our US Amerikaner law are my friends.
I think the opposition spreads some kind of disinformation. I believe Georgians don’t want foreign (Russian) influence. It sounds like that’s exactly what the government is trying to combat. Didn't France just approve a similar resolution? The Foreign Agents Law or similar legislation exists in the US and in various democratic countries around the world.
