    Great video series! You got a new subscriber. Looking to get into this properly. I am a musician with very wide interests, so needless to say that my setup will be inexpensive or otherwise DIY.

    This video has been extremely helpful. Thanks for taking the time to explain everything. One thing I'm stuck on is the TV output. Do you have/need composite output on your tv in order to run it into a computer/AV Mixer? I'm sourcing tvs and need to confirm this detail. Thanks again

    I found a Panasonic WJMX20, and an RCA VHS cam (the latter doesn’t work) so I’m on my way.

    RGB lines on the Trinitron are because of its cathode guns and i think a faulty stabilisation line

    Why not use an older vidicon tube camera instead of a CCD? The vidicon tubes (e.g Newvicon, Saticon) have lag which can give pretty wild effects. Also comet trails.

    i wonder how much using a projector would affect this, like if you have the camera looking at the projection screen, or even if you had it behind the screen or had a semi opaque screen and the camera is behind it, that way the projector is shining light directly into the camera vs pixels... but it would need a filter or it would just wash out super easy...

    Thanks for this video! I've been struggling to get feedback really working with my CRT because of the reflectiveness of the glass. For that reason LCD seems to work better, but wondering if you have any tips on that? I guess my CRTs are too faded and my room light levels too high

      its been like that forever, pretty common failure in this era of trinis. pretty sure it just needs a recapping is all

      emulating analog aesthetic processes and/or video feedback is can mostly be inefficient and implausible using any adobe products or the like. not to say that people can't find workarounds but i really don't advise it as being a worthwhile use of time, especially since using the free open source software i make (video_waaaves suite 2.5) is a thousand times more useful for working with feedback systems on a computer

      What I like to do is use a simple cheapo USB Webcam and run it through obs. You can apply some cool filters to that which can go into some awesome rainbow patterns

    This looks awesome! Lovely work. I want to get into this, I have my eyes on some mixing boards. Only thing I’m confused on, is something like your Roland v4ex necessary? Or is just one av mixer and a camera enough to get me started?

    • @andreijay
      @andreijay  3 роки тому +1

      i only really recommend the v4ex for folks who are doing professional video work using sd and hd video together and if u can find one for under 1000usd, its kinda overkill for someone getting started and the basic cheapo panasonic mixers or an old school v4 are a lot more fun right out the gate

    Hey man, I just got my AVE 7 today and played around with it for hours - but I do have a question. I have linked Rec Video Out 1 with Source 2 In while I connected a VCR to Source 1 (both composite although I tried S-Video as well) So whenever I go to Source 2 I should get a nice colourful internal feedback like you have at 16:15 - but all I get is a muddy red-brownish screen with some minimal feedback lines - I can achieve some nice effects with the superimpose effect, but still I was wondering how I can create this feedback that you have or if my machine is just broken?
    Thanks in advance

    Hey my man!
    Appreciate so much your work here, i just have a question.
    Around 03:40 you explain the chain passing through the roland out to the CRT and into the panasonic again, but i'm not clear about how the signal is coming out of the crt, i don't know if there's some kind of device or converter to do that or just might be specific CRT models with that characteristic , i would appreciate some guidance in case anyone has some clue :)

    • @Ms-eu3fn
      @Ms-eu3fn Рік тому +1

      Idk if you ever got there but just in case, he’s talking about specifically broadcast crt tvs, the one he used is called a trinitron. It has a pass-through port on it.

    • @baruchhernandez9637
      @baruchhernandez9637 Рік тому

      I did and I got disappointed, in my town it's hard to get a broadcast crt other than ordering it through e bay, I've been chasing consumer like models from LG which actually had a video output, but haven't been lucky yet
      Soon I hope, it's a crazy technique and I'm looking forward to try that out

    The input 2 on my Panasonic MX12 is super glitched and one color/black and white when I plug a cam in it. Is my source 2 busted or would it be corrected with a time based corrector? Input 1 works great.

      @@Hack_The_Planet_ for pretty much every single consumer video camera ever made there was only 1 brand/type of AC adapter made. good rule of thumb: if you find a consumer grade camera at a thrift store and it doesn't come with a functioning AC adapter, its probably not worth it
