that's a fucking great one. It's so close to not working, being too weird to be believeable, but not quite - and therefore lands just this side of perfect. You can just imagine him being all nervous and keen to impress and on instinct believing the T gives his name such a nice ring to it, he'll earn instant respect. Then he realises. So good.
The best part about Richard is that none of the more cynical and jaded characters in the show seem to know how to react to his mixture of sincere enthusiasm and childlike ignorance.
I thought Richard was going to be a shitty one note character when I first saw him, but he's quickly become one of the greatest in the entire show. Unlike the others he's loveable as fuck.
Right?! I don't really care for him in New Beginnings, but as the show progress he became one of the most developed character and dare I say, the best.
Richard made his first appearance in the third season premiere. The decision to bring him into the core ensemble was inspired. Richard became such an integral part of the show, it sometimes feels he was there from the start. A beautiful comic creation, perfectly performed by Sam Richardson. SOO-SHEE.
"I'd like to plead the 5th" "Can you repeat what you just said?" "Sure - I'd like to plead the 5th" "Before that" "I think I mistakenly said..." I was crying with laughter
"Decent". Richard is the most ruthless political operator out of all of them. Every so called "mistake" he makes is designed to take down his rivals bit by bit and to elevate himself in their place. Now that the show is over we know where his dirty tricks eventually got him.
Ok I love that I found these compilations. TBH, I watched the first 2.5 seasons of this show on a pretty fast binge (i.e. over a couple of weeks). This was a HUGE mistake as all of the characters are so unlikeable, so I only continued watching with the hope that all of them would get comeuppance by say, falling off the Earth. Finally Splett comes along and is actually someone to root for, since he's just so adorable and charming. I mean, the other characters are written well but I definitely think that this is a series that is meant to be watched no more than 1x per week, with a loooooong time between seasons so you can recover from hating everyone. Anyway, love Splett forever!
@The Modern Day Warrior He was basically saying that once you hear it, you can't unhear it, or in this case, once you see it, you can't unsee it. Similar to the idiom, "you can't unring a bell once it's been rung"
7:59 "VP Doyle's a lame duck, and what do you do with lame animals?" "Care for them." "You shoot 'em dead." "Ah, yeah, gotcha. Kinder in the long run anyway."
Jonah: Richard, I don't look like a middle aged woman, do I? Richard: Well do you have that one purple shirt that's a little bit blousy. That one get's me every time...because it's so needed to break the serious undertones of the scene. That and "Richard T. Splett (handshake), I don't know why I said the T, my middle name is John". That one gives me a giggle fit even if I just think about the scene without even watching it. LMAO!
I loved his role. I need this show to be back on so I can stream every episode until I die. I always say this when I see these clips, but I went to Spelman and EVERYONE (else; not me, I worked at the club) from morehouse and Spelman worked for the Obama administration and it was SO Jonah. Like, you couldnt get THROUGH a single conversation without "...and I mention I work at the white house??" It was so exhausting. Then, my father got arrested and for *some odd reason* said Barack said he was "my fathers friend" *super publicly* (that one sentance changed my fathers *entire* self esteem) so we went to the Whitehouse and it was like, a college reunion. Like, first words out of my mouth "where are the cuties?" And my sister had the nerve to say I was "being impolite" ...um, Obama hired my *entire* class... This is essentially tinder in real life.
"Richard T. Splett.... Don't know why I said 'T' my middle name is John" LOL couldn't stop laughing

I accidentally high-pitched squealed
That's my favourite Richard line lol.
''In my family basketball is a religion. Also Catholicism. That's actually the main one." is a close 2nd
The best part about Richard is that none of the more cynical and jaded characters in the show seem to know how to react to his mixture of sincere enthusiasm and childlike ignorance.
“To be honest you guys; I think you’re both tremendous.”
He’s so wholesome.
"A joke's not a joke unless everyone can laugh at it." Holt shit, that's actually brilliant lol
I love how sincerely _offended_ he is!
All the teachers back at my elementary school used to nag about that. Drove me and my friends crazy
As Selina becomes more unlikeable, I kept watching because of Richard and Jonah.
"You know what you do with lame animals?" "Care for them!" God bless him
"A jokes not a joke unless everyone can laugh at it" Richard standing up for Jonah 😂
"In my family basketball is a religion. Also Catholicism. That's actually the main one."
"A number of tall women were molested and Mr Ryan was one of them" - LOLZ
Nobody makes the word "molested" sound funnier.
And that slight squinting while delivering his lines❤
We don't deserve a world where Richard Splett is real.
That's the one we have.
We need him now.
Richard is probably the best character in a show full of great characters.
The actor playing him makes already great material shine.
He is the only "good" character in a show of just terrible people. Great change of pace with him.
@@ScottieMacFMike and Kent are not so bad either
“No, raise your right hand.” “Sorry, I was practicing in the mirror.”
Jonah: : "Is there a way to change the music?"
Richard: "Absolutely"
Mike: "Great!"
Richatd: "Well not sure, but positivity is the first step " 😂😂
Richar Splett is my favorite character out of this whole show!!! Loved how he kicked ass in the last season.
Best line by Bill Ericson "Was Vladimir draw attention to myself already taken" 😂😂😂
"...and I love fireworks. The noise, the lights. Mostly those aspects." Genius bs!
Richard: *breathes*
Me: why is he the purest character to ever exist ?!?!
9:53 is my single favorite Richard Splett moment and maybe my favorite of the entire series.
Richard made his first appearance in the third season premiere. The decision to bring him into the core ensemble was inspired. Richard became such an integral part of the show, it sometimes feels he was there from the start. A beautiful comic creation, perfectly performed by Sam Richardson. SOO-SHEE.
"You know, a joke's not a joke unless everyone can laugh at it."
Nice to see a character who isn't cynical and jaded like almost everyone else on veep. I'm glad they made him a permanent addition.
"Your dealing with the emotional fallout..." LOL
Today, Richard...
"I'd like to plead the 5th"
"Can you repeat what you just said?"
"Sure - I'd like to plead the 5th"
"Before that"
"I think I mistakenly said..."
I was crying with laughter
best show on earth and Richard was a brilliant addition
Love this guy! Actor plays this SOOO good! Fave character
God damn this show is quick...crazy-good writing.
“It’s like words are your second language”. Did i hear that correctly? Sounds brillant
"Happened to my brother once. He did not handle it well." LOL
I don't think anyone could have played this character as well as Sam Richardson. What a performance.
I love Richard . It is nice to have a decent human being among this group of total narcissists!
"Decent". Richard is the most ruthless political operator out of all of them. Every so called "mistake" he makes is designed to take down his rivals bit by bit and to elevate himself in their place. Now that the show is over we know where his dirty tricks eventually got him.
@@inspirationalquote3645 Ruthless man. I don't say things like this about people, but Richard DEFINITELY deserved his fate.
Richard Splett and Ken Davis are the best non-original cast members of the show.
Kent Davidson?
I like Ben
@@genericallyaccepted me too. Blue collar man in a white collar job lol
@@Aced84 dude. Thats exactly what he is. Good call.
it's mostly self help audio books and relaxation tapes I'm quite an anxious man
"It's like words are your second language, sir"
:)
We need a Splett spinoff.
I love Richard!
5:45 Yogi and Boo-boo is an appropriate nickname for Jonah and Richard.
I thought it was "two kids dressed in their dads' suits".
***SPOILER ALERT**
It is admirable the way the writers evolved Yogi and Booboo into Vice President and President.
THE SHUS AND THE MIS WERE ON POINT
"Around the spheres"
Dying 😆 omg I love Richard.
his face after he says "Lobster Curry Roll" kills me 5:16
The "classic copycat" bit slayed me
VEEP is such a brilliant show and Richard is a brilliantly written character
Jonah touring Richard was fucking hilarious. "Not to scale" hahahaha
Richard is a humble genius.
best character on the show.
11:20 Richard T Splett ... dont know why I said 'T', my middle name is John .... LOL LOL LOL LOL
Thank you for creating and uploading this.

@@benjamintillema3572 I'm happy with that.
'The Police - Law and order mixed with very mild reggae, it's like a comforting balance' is one of the funniest lines of the show. It will be missed!
Spletnet, very funny, love this character, thanks for posting~!

"It was around the spheres."

Does he almost break after he says the line about Jonah's purple shirt ? So adorable. I love him.
I bet Richard started out as a one time character but he was Hilarious so
"A joke's not a joke unless everyone can laugh at it"
egg nog latte lmao
i didnt even know that was a thing lol

Bring! Back! My! Pig!
I'm happy with that.

I had to hear him say Bring Back My Pig again. Idk why.
Our Future President!!!
Egg nog latte if it’s in season 😂😂😂
unlike Jonah, sometime it feel like Splett is just play dumb to deceived & sabotage his colleague, lol
9:53 When I first saw this I laughed so hard I hurt myself.
Uh sir you don’t have to answer that.
Is this man your attorney?
No!
Well not technically
Richard kills every fucking line. Also Amy is hot.
him and Ben are my favs
I love this show.
Richard And Jonah are my two favorite characters, and they’re even better together
9:40. every time.
That whole scene is even funnier that no one reacts to RIchard mentioning Jonah being molested
I love the meeting with the other women. The slow looks of realisation on both their faces.
Bring...back...my...pig
I'm happy with that.
Richard T Splett
