my girlfriend got a bit hurt that the driver side had an armrest but she didnt have one. this is going to help out a lot. Shes gonna be really happy after i do this install. Thanks a million
Thanks for the video! For everyone else: I have a 98 CRV. My passenger seat does not have the metal bracket for the armrest to bolt onto. But at the junkyard I was able to grab the driver armrest off another 98 driver seat, plus the metal bolt holder. Then I found a 2001(?) Passenger seat that did have the metal bracket that I could feel through the cushion. Wrong fabric, but I can swap that out at home. So I cut the hole, secured the mismatched armrest( and an extra 98 head rest) and took off the whole backside of the seat. (Leaving the bottom) Paid $21. $21 bucks to not have every passenger complain about not having an armrest?!?! Worth it... Wish I did it decades ago
My first car is still this reliable CRV. I love it and plan to keep it healthy until it can't anymore. I installed tinted windows, Blue LED headlights, and soon a roof cage lol. I kinds of want to convert it into an off-road CRV
I have one crv 1998, I'm keeping it too. This summer I installed sound deadening and insulation all around( a lot work but worth it) I'm planning to upgrade head unit to a 9 inch screen also I want tobupgrade the speakers and add a subwoofer, but small one because I need the trunk space. Which cargo basket are you planning to get? On of 64 inch?
@@hondaresource 100% helped, went out to the junkyard here in Iowa (feels like temp is -8) to get an arm rest. Once the lady gets home with crv I'll be installing it
Thanks for the tip! I’ve seen others that don’t mention that you’re able to feel the bracket before cutting a hole. I have been cutting holes on passenger seats at the junkyard trying to replace the whole thing. Still waiting on the rack n pinion, and power steering replacement video
Awesome! Going to pull a part tomorrow! Was wondering if you had a video on putting a real console in between the seats. The little flip tray is weak. Thanks again for great work.
My drivers seat was missing the armrest so I went to the junkyard and bought one. When I tried to install it I found the bracket was missing. I went back to the junkyard and bought an entire seatback which left me with an extra armrest, guess I'll install it on the passenger's side. Thanks for the video.
My wife just said when I pickup one of these where is my armrest? i said you don't get one 😆, but now that I know i can install one I'll put one in for her, awesome video.
Good advice as always Phillip. My understanding as to why some models don't have the mounting bracket at all is that they don't put the brackets in the seats of manual transmission CRVs, maybe a safety thing where they don't want people's arms in the way of the shifter? Anyway thank you for the video.
Well that sucks.... I have a manual RD1, and armrests are the only thing I constantly wish it had! Looks like I'll be looking for entire seats instead of just the armrests...
Hmmm, am I just the unlucky one??? My 2000 has an armrest FOR the passenger but not the driver and so I end up being the one who gets screwed. Guess it's because mine is a manual? Jeez, does Honda think I can't change gears with an armrest? 🙄I've wondered why I got shafted since I bought the thing, 22 years ago. Now I'm hesitant to go see if I can feel that bracket under the fabric you're talking about cuz if there's not one there, I'll be disappointed all over again lol. I have a couple questions for you, regarding the topic of seats, though. 1) Is there a trick to removing the passenger seat? I've heard that it can mess with the airbag sensors &/or leave the "check engine" light on, if you don't do it right. 2) If I remove the passenger seat, is there a way to install its secret drawer to under the driver's seat? (Or would the passenger seat & its drawer fit in the driver seat position, if I removed the passenger armrest?) I know these questions sound crazy (& probably dumb) but if I turn my car into a micro-camper, I want all the space I can get.
If you have a manual, it does not have the place to mount it on the driver seat. I just swapped an auto seat into my manual like 2 weeks ago. It most definitely will not have a check engine light for it, although it may have a srs light. I can verify on mine tomorrow. The passenger seat will not mount in the driver position. The bolt positions are different. I dont think the drawer will mount to the driver seat either, although I have never attempted to do it.
@@hondaresource Ahhhh, I see. I just need to hit the junk yard (or my Honda mechanic lol) for a driver seat out of an automatic, in order to get the armrest. What's a reasonable price I can expect to pay for that? Thanks for answering my questions. I doubt the drawer would fit under the driver because there are no drawer slides under there and like you said, the bolt positions are diff which prolly also means other stuff under there is diff too, like the space for the drawer.

I got 2000, i have question. after driving on highway for long time and come to stops on local, there's always burning smell entering thru the fan eventhough its not on. so i rolled down my window and i dont smell anything, but when i make a turn or make complete stop i can smell it for few seconds. then gone. Like strong burning oil or something but im not able to find the source of the smell. Engine temp gauage is fine. could it be the radiator cap that i got it from the amazon? or i have oil leak somewhere? thank you.
@@hondaresource thankyou. problem is that I cant get that head exhaust 3x flange bolt to come off. I believed they are 13mm deep socket. Already tried wd40 and left it overnight its like molded in there. :(
Would this be the same process as a 2014 CR-V LE? I don't think mine has a zipper have to check. I'd love to have an arm rest on both sides just has it on the driver's.

Yes, it does...now to find a bone yard that has the "leather" armrest available after 24 years ! LOL
I’m going to take a guess that the passenger arm rest mount is there because it was cheap for Honda to just use the same seats for RHD & LHD versions.
probably so
