Need to try these on Assioma Favero pedals. I bet they will find, as Thrust bodies, these Sonik use same 3 bearing layup,. Should remove spindles and compare them with other Xpedo spindles.
I've been using clipless pedals since 1985. The main reason to use Shimano is cleat life- Shimano cleats last at least a season, usually two. Look cleats are made of soft putty, and you'll need to replace them a couple of times a year. I've never used Speedplay, so i can't comment on their durability.
Xpedo (parent company Wellgo) has been saying no stationary bike use for over a decade on titanium axles... Probably a liability thing since they supply pedals for a lot of gym equipment and don't want some heavy person snapping them.
I believe Xpedo is a brand of Wellgo, who has been manufacturing for Shimano (under license) for many years. The patents for SPD however, (and I think some SPD-SL) expired in many countries around the time of the pandemic. Won't tightening the tension on the Shimano pedal get rid of the play (excess float)? You can use them on an exercise bike. Warning is for commercial spin bikes, which are usually rated for 150kg of body weight (so 3X your body weight).
Float is determined by the cleat, not the pedal. The adjustable part on the pedal is only in how much force you need to unclip, which is important if you intend to sprint.
Glad you mentioned q-factor - the dura ace pedals actually have a slightly smaller q factor than shimano's other pedals. The only dura ace i have on my bike (bought used! had to service the bearings, a pain but kinda fun) is the pedals 'cause i struggle to get my feet close enough together due to my tremendously skinny arse.

Thanks for the video.

you’ve been using the Shimano cleat for a while that is why you feel more ‘homie’ with it. It’s the reverse for me, am using Assioma’s for a long while now and they use the same red Xpedo cleats, when i try to use Shimano cleats i don’t feel as good as with the xpedo’s…to each his own i guess
Agreed, either cleat is totally fine, I will use the xpedo cleats once my current shimano ones wear out. Shame not to. The point I was trying to confirm and show was that Shimano cleats works just as good, and since they are much easier to get hold of here, that was an important point for me. (The xpedo MTB pedals also claim compatibility, but in reality it was actually a much worse experience than with the Xpedo cleats) I realize now that, due to my surprise of them working as good as on shimano pedals, it become more of a Cleat vs Cleat comparison. Thanks for adding your perspective! Invaluable!
