- Expand & Contract Shapes Accurately to create Nested Vector Shapes in Photoshop
Learn to perfectly scale any shape! It sounds easy to do but it is not easy to create perfectly nested shapes in Photoshop when you are working with complex shapes. While circles and rectangles nest easily - fancy shapes such as paisleys and organic shapes won't reduce correctly so you can't simply shrink or expand them by dragging on their sizing handles. This video shows you a way to reduce and expand vector shapes in Photoshop so you can create a series of shapes of decreasing size quite quickly and easily.

This was a LIFE saver! Thank you so much.
Thank you so much! I think I wouldn't have guessed the way to expand shapes in PS myself
Happy to be of help.
How about selct>modify>contract. Make an emty layer and then fill the contracted selection. After that its possible to convert to shapes.
been after a way of doing this without switching back and fourth from illustrator ..awesome tut .. subbed to you channel ;)
Awesome, thank you!
Perfect
So glad this helped you.
Great tutorial! Learned something
Thank you for the kind words and for stopping by my channel.
This was cool.... kinda similar to what I was doing. Everything i was doing is the same except that i would make a selection and either contract or expand the selection with giving th object a stroke. Now i have two ways... Good stuff
psiops277 Awesome, I am glad you found a second way - it will help when you want more than just a second scaled down version as you can't add two strokes to a shape in Photoshop.
Oh, and thanks for stopping by my channel!
No, you can not... I do find myself using Ai and Ps in conjunction for some things, but mostly Ai for print projects...
thxxxx, nice trick
Cheers Lucas!

+LIGHTBOXIDEAS Thanks for stopping by my channel.
Need to size shapes so they fit neatly inside each other - if your shapes are organic - (think paisley, elephant, umbrella) simple resizing doesn't work - the shapes don't nest. My method shows you how to achieve this nested resizing in #Photoshop #photoshoptutorials #photoshopcc #photoshopcc2014
And what''s wrong with selecting the shape path > make selection > contract selection > shape from selection? :-/
Just say its imposible!
Hmm, but it isn't impossible. That is what this video is all about.
