    I can't tell you how happy I am to find your video on this subject. This is soooo much easier than the other videos I've watched and I've watched a lot of them. Your old videos are a great help to those of us using older software. Thanks.

    Hi Helen! How do I export on JPEG from the patterns tiles on photoshop directly if I changed the size of the inicial tile, in order to keep the new re-sizing? Thanks!

      Hi Mini. I'm having a little difficulty understanding exactly what you want to do. If you would like it to email me direct with your question I can probably assist. My email address is helen@helenbradley.com. Give me a detailed explanation as to what you're trying to do and I'll try to help.

    Will this work for Spoonflower? Or should I bring the photo into Illustrator and follow your other video for Repeating Patterns/CS 5.5 and earlier

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  6 років тому +1

      For Spoonflower all you need is the pattern swatch and you can upload that and repeat it there. It's much easier to make these patterns in Photoshop than Illustrator but Illustrator is more powerful a tool than Photoshop so it offers more flexibility. So, when you have your offset design just save it as a jpg or whatever format you need for Spoonflower (or any other site that will repeat patterns for you) - just make sure you make a high quality file and you're good to go. I hope this helps?

    What's the benefit of making seamless patterns in Photoshop, Helen? I've always assumed that Illustrator is the default program for making patterns since it makes resolution independent designs, but I've seen many Spoonflower designers using Photoshop. Suppose I make a Photoshop pattern and it fits right for a cosmetic pouch, then it won't be usable on a backpack since a backpack is much larger, or am I missing something?

      Good question Trang. Most sites take jpg or png images for patterns so you'll be converting PS or IL files to that format each time. You are right however about scalability - Illustrator scales better than Photoshop. But most of the time people use the program they are most happy with. If you want to use patterns at different sizes from Photoshop you can do that by starting big so you can scale down for smaller projects. But some people don't want to scale up and down - they just want a pattern to be sized the way they designed it to be. There are pluses and minuses for both programs. You can use either - just be aware of how each works so you can make good choices as to the size you design at. I hope this helps?

    Do you have a video on how to make a striped seamless pattern in photoshop to be printed on fabric? When it comes to stripes do you have to use the offset tool still? In having a hard time trying to find a video that shows this. Do you make a striped pattern first and work from there? Please help!

      Hi there. I just realised I have never made a video on making a stripe pattern in Photoshop so here is one I just made: ua-cam.com/video/evQsA4VmCb8/v-deo.html
      I hope this helps - if you have more questions, feel free to ask.

    Hi, I was wondering if you could help me with a problem.
    I'm trying to do some presentation cards for school. I have the format ready, all I need to do is to fill the gaps with the kids names. The problem is, there's over 500 kids.
    I was wondering if there was a tool or something to quick fill the formats instead of filling them one by one. I have the names on a list, so I can copy & paste them over, but it still is very tedious.
    Or maybe just a way to have the text boxs preset in the format so I don't have to create one for every name.
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    I wonder if making the image on the pattern bigger will pixelate it

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  4 роки тому

      Great question Hilda. Yes it will. You really have to start with a good size element so you won't have to enlarge it much if at all.
