- Donald Trump has been on a tour of the Gen Z influencer ecosystem, from Theo Von to Adin Ross. In this episode of “The Opinions,” Daniel Pfeiffer, a senior adviser to former President Barack Obama, argues that Trump is trying to win the support of young men, a once loyal Democratic constituency. Mr. Pfeiffer says Democrats ignore these voters at their peril, for the 2024 election and beyond: “There is no post-Trump era if Gen Z men become firmly adherents of MAGA philosophy,” he explains.

The only reason Trump had to ask if cocaine is a "stronger up" than alcohol is because he doesn't drink.
I think it's a huge failure of the Harris campaign to NOT go on these podcasts. It's not just 'Gen Z'. Tons of people / independents listen to these podcasts. The Dems have a way of campaigning out of fear instead of hope - despite the rethoric. Going on these podcasts would HELP the Dems.
Yeah i don’t get it
bernie got lots of heat for g going on joe rogan, because of supporting toxic masculinity. :(
Totally agree. For a guy like Joe Rogan, I think most his listeners are just middling guys who want to think of themselves 'free-thinking enlightened centrists'. Those people can be persuaded. Instead, Rogan ends up having a cavalcade of grifting right-wingers and conspiracy theorists who can freely create an alternate reality in the listener's heads. Completely unchallenged.
Why do Presidents need to be on podcasts about sex stories?
What is wrong with you people?
@@ScottCovert The video explains it - it’s a hugely popular podcast with young women. Who would have thought that the critical issue of reproductive rights in this election, especially Harris’ stance on them, would have something to do with sex?
The people listening to the podcast know this. If your concern for optics stops at “sex” then I don’t know what to tell you.
Every NYT article: why Kamala Harris isn’t doing enough
I agree, Hispanic men in Nevada and Arizona seem to be a biggest blindspot for Democrats right now. And many of them likely experienced large rent spikes recently so I wish Harris was offering something more legislatively substantive on the apartment shortage
It's kind of insulting the way Walz was served up as the savior of men based on such thin 1980's gender tropes. As far as I can tell he seems way more popular among divorced boomer women than young men
It's never enough for a country that inevitably will succumb to authoriarianism.
More than 200 years of dodging it is already lucky enough.
Lex Friedman is not a podcast bro. Theo is a comedian and he had on Bernie Sanders right before this. Come on NYT… give people all the facts. Theo talks to everyone. He’s hardly “MAGA adjacent”.
All that said, this was a brilliant move by the Trump team. He’s getting in front of people who don’t watch tv.
Edit: he mentions Bernie’s appearance on Theo Von in the last few seconds of the program. Not good enough.
Who is Daniel Pfeiffer? I know Dan, but damn Daniel 😂
