    Hi! Ive free handed some doll clothes for tiny dolls ive needlefelted. Ive since inherited a sewing machine from both my Grandmother and my beautiful aunt. Im curious if you use a sewing machine or if you do all of this by hand? Inmy attempts to use a sewing machine ive found that the fabric gets pulled into the machine. Im sure it has more to do with my lack of sewing skills... Combined with trying to make thetiniest of clothes. You hAve gained . New follower, already learning just by watching you!

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  8 місяців тому +2

      How wonderful!! I do a bit of both really, depending on the scale and the project/material. When I was getting started that was the single most frustrating thing to me, I think moving the needle to the left helped me quite a bit, and using a clear quilters foot too, so I could still see what I was doing! 🤭
      I share tips all over the place whenever I can, I hope you’ll enjoy watching more! ☺️

    I sometimes "like" using fabric glue too if I have to treat edges, instead of Fray Check which stinks for weeks. But I plan it so I can trim off the glued parts afterwards. This is adorable and great simple tutorial with ribbing.

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  2 роки тому +3

      Honestly I would just say jump in! Expect to have to try again and again, but be assured that all the practice will pay off! I'd recommend my simple t-shirt pattern, or something like a basic gathered skirt to get started with. There's lots of fantastic tutorials available to watch and follow ^_^ I hope you have lots of fun with it!!

    Ohhh, it's so cute. you are such an inspiration to me and many others ❤️
    I reuse clothes for pouches, pillowcases (I made some really nice ones from vintage T-shirts) patchwork and redesign. Sometimes I find a lovely pattern and just have to buy it.
    Some years ago "Red Cross" in Copenhagen made a collaboration with new designers and it turned out to be a huge success. They redesigned clothes and old furniture, so whenever people say it's a waste of time to recycle are wrong IMO. The more we can recycle the better.
    When my son finished high school, they were having a fancy dinner party at the gymnasium. The dress code was suits and long dresses. My son never liked the formal clothes, so he wore jeans, a white new shirt (no tie or butterfly) and a second hand jacket, that I refurbished (don't know if refurbish is the right word to use - English isn't my first language). He didn't want me to spend between 100-200 £ for a jacket he was wearing one time. I got the inspiration for his look from Pharrell Williams and he looked like a rockstar ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ and he felt great, which were the point.
    Now I remember another story. My son was meeting with a friend on a friday evening. They had decided that it should be a quiet evening with food and games, so my son was wearing a pair of gray sweatpants that I had sewn for him. Later on that evening some other friends turned up and wanted to go on a club. My son didn't think much about it until they were in queue and he realized that he was wearing sweatpants and sneakers. he tapped his friend on the shoulder and whispered "I'm wearing sweatpants".. when it was their turn to get inside , the bouncer said "No sweatpants" and my sons friend replied "They're from Kayne" and they got let into the club 😂 . It makes me think of "The Emperor's New Clothes"

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  3 роки тому +1

      Oh that’s so sweet! Those are great ways to recycle! I love your stories, it feels so good to be able to make or customise something for your child to wear!! I love that he got away with the sweatpants too 😂 Thank you so much! ✨😄✨
