Und wieder thx ! Beste Talkrunde über Gear, bei der man das Gefühl hat, selbst dabei zu sein und sich über Erfahrungen austauscht. Man nimmt IMMER etwas für sich selbst mit raus und ist danach nicht Dümmer.
I hope you enjoyed this episode with Knut Bausch, a longtime friend who’s now the product specialist for Fractal Audio. As I am currently on tour, we pre-recorded this episode - maybe some people didn’t even recognized it…😂 Feel free to ask anything! I’ll have a look here in the chat - and come back to all questions! Greetings from the road, Cheers, Thomas 😊😊
I currently use my AX8 by skipping the cab, and sending the outs to a small board on my stereo power amp rack head. I use 2 external reverb units then feeding a stereo pair of Two Notes Torpedo Cab M IR boxes DI to PA and non speaker signal goes to a Rocktron velocity 120 power amp and split stereo 4x12 or my 2 (1x12) cabs. I can run silent, low volume or louder if I can't use my in ears. I plan to set up exterenal fx loop to use other stereo fx on my pedall board. It sounds killer.
I believe that a lot of digital devices do not focus on analog input and output quality. We’ve seen that with the Line6 HXFX. Luckily it’s fixed now (due to our and Jennifer Batten’s complaints directly to Line6). Unfortunately we see that with many devices, even when the companies do have better solutions with more expensive models. We have those isolation transformers on our XLR outs on BluBOX and on AMPX. Why? We want avoid potential problems!
I don’t know how you treat you Marshalls, complaining about maintenance???? Something wrong there. I have had my Marshall TSL100 head new since 2001, aside from the bias drift mod in 2005, my amps have been near perfect, only blowing one 1mw resistor after 23 years of usage. Where will you modeller be in 23 years?
The Fractal are rugged and well built. I use it as an option. I love my tube amps. My Line 6 Pod XT Pro had an issue with reverb knob randomly moving. My POD XT has bad output jack. Doubt the Fractal will have those issues 20 years from now.
There’s nothing wrong with tube amps. It depends on all the components and of course how and where they are used. EG on the road with lugging around and vibrating during transport tubes can suffer. Over time tube sockets and potentiometers can get corrosion due to humidity. These factors applied to a “modern technology product” can of corse also create problems…
Thomas is a really nice respectfull guy as far as I have seen. And if you love and celebrate guitar and have one in your hands you almost play automatically - even me as an amateur. I am sure he just did not think about it. If he talks and explains you feel, that he is so much into it and wants everyone to understand. And that's a reason, why a lot of people love him. ❤
Thomas is a gift to guitar community, constantly innovating, building, enhancing gear as well as sharing wisdom and insights about amps and effects, last but not least interviewing players, product leaders and playing great guitar music! I celebrate you, Thomas!!

Wet-dry-wet system!!!!
I have almost every Engl amp ever existed, but the Engl Coke Edition is new to me. 😅
LOL 😜
Why not put isolation transformers in such an expensive device? Make it perfect!

I don't have many amps to capture. I went with Fractal AX8.

Thomas noodling while interview the other guy is showing pure disrespect 😢
Sorry! Sometimes I’m not perfect, sorry if I was disrespectful…
Greetings, Thomas
