Please change the (green screen) background…the autist in me can’t focus on what’s uttered…even less when it was just the screen showing “the backyard” (window with the shed and so on).
It would actually be better if it showed the universe, to be honest.

The book "The Sociopath Next Door" has a powerful message: the sociopath's favorite tool is pity. They all blame others and seek pity to disguise their own feelings and behavior.
A socipath's real problem is their own self-hatred - which they project onto others. It's an addictive cycle. Harming others gives them a temporary emotional high, and they get depressed and angry when the high goes away. Then they feed their self-hatred and rage, to justify another episode of harming someone to get that high again.

I saw the movie and thought it was stunning. Russell’s take is correct-the archetypal nature of the story shines through anything else in the way. Really the story of two unlikely best friends who make choices that impact their relationship, along with showing the power of kindness, and the consequences of becoming disillusioned and embittered. Soooo many deep lessons I was able to extract for my 7 year old daughter who saw it and absolutely loved it. Also, Amala Ekpunobi did an EXCELLENT review of the movie!

Some of the comments on here are getting ridiculous… people thinking that this story was written to push some kind of “woke” agenda, not realizing this musical has been around for 20+ years before we had all this divide 🙄 some people just want to be mad no matter what. I’m so happy that there is FINALLY actually something worth going to the theatres for other than the trash Hollywood has been churning out lately.

Elpheba never turned evil. She was lied about and used as the bad guy so that everyone wouldn't listen to her when she tried to talk about what the wizard is doing. And the silencing of the animals to create a common enemy is something that has worked before and will work again if we don't watch for it. Any group of people can be turned into the enemy. That's why we need reminders to listen to the intelligent people that they try to silence, like Russel Brand. I always liked the messages in the book Wicked, the musical, and now the movie.

The yellow brick road symbolizes the gold standard which backed the dollar during those days. The Tin man was the Northern working man electorate, The Cowardly Lion was William Jennings Bryant, the girl, Dorothy was symolic of the Populist Movement which was centered in the Mid-West. Every character represents a part of the political scene in the 1890's. Scholars have known this since the 1890's. The Wizard was the President of the US of course. We studied this in college, a long time ago before gender studies.

I have seen a lot of comments that don't seem to understand what the story is supposed to be. This movie is based on a very long running Broadway which was based on a series of well written and very dark books (though thankfully the musical isn't as dark). The story isn't showing sympathy for a villain, but showing that there are complex nuances in society and how easy it is to villianize somebody who is doing the right thing. The whole "is somebody born wicked or is wicked thrusted upon them" is about how people treat others who are different, whether it is physical or ideological. Also it is about the importance to speak and act on the truth even if there is backlash. I saw the movie and I was honestly very skeptical about it because of my love of the musical, but I am happy that I was pleasantly surprised that it was a refreshingly good movie. There was pops of colors, good character development, and they stayed true to the heart of the musical. So I do suggest giving it a shot (unless musicals aren't your thing).

This is a perfect example of the cunning and deceitfulness of Satan.
      No one is sinless.
Only by Jesus taking on the punishment for our sins are we considered acceptable in God’s sight.
The belief in Jesus redeeming us through His death is what separates the Christian faith over all religions.
Those who reject God and the only way of salvation through Jesus (John 14:6) will find themselves perpetually at war with God. But those who come to Him in repentance will find themselves at peace with God. Because of Christ’s sacrifice, we are restored to a relationship of peace with God (Romans 5:1).
      2 Corinthians 11:14
No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.

It wasn't a perfect movie, but it was far above mediocre. As to the "morality of a Christian going to see it, I think each one should follow their own conscience. In other words, follow the Holy Spirit's leading. I think we all know the answer to the question of whether we are born evil. Yes, we are all sinners in need of a savior. But, understanding a perso'ns story helps us to have compassion for other sinners. And maybe it gives us pause to thank God for our own lives and His intervention in them.

There was also a massive political narrative.
The original Wizard of Oz was deeply esoteric and archetypal in nature. The Wicked story is an inversion of this. With Dorothy portraying the goddess/Persephone aspect, Oz being her subconscious mind/the underworld, the Wizard being her inner Christ Consciousness, the wicked witch and the good witch being the dualistic nature of the Sophia, the emerald city being the heart, the yellow brick road being the central channel up which the kundalini rises, and the characters in Oz, being unhealed aspects of her that get healed within the heart. There’s probably more to it than this, but you get the gist. To invert this is, quite literally, satanic/Ahrimanic.

I have loved Wicked since I first heard Defying Gravity in 2004.
Then... I fell in love with the story. And I feel a lot of people are missing the brilliance of it.
    Wicked is about courage.
It's about standing up to authority and speaking truth to power and standing up for what's right, even if that means you're on your own.
It's about the power of propaganda and state character assassination.
Who is good? Who is evil? It all depends on our level of courage and who we decide to listen to.
And lastly, it's about female friendship.
The musical will always be my first love and my favorite cause.. live is always better.
That said, the movie was amazing.
