  • In the beginning of May 2021. Me my husband and my Service Dog flew out to Kansas to see some old friends. So when we were there I did not too much blogging because I want to take every moment to enjoy hanging out with them. I did film what it was like flying with a service dog. This was Elsa’s second time flying out of state and she is becoming a real pro. I hope you enjoy seeing my Service Dog on a plane. Do like and subscribe for more Service Dog content.

Hope you enjoyed watching our trip! This is the biggest edit I have done so far. 3 1/2 hours of footage down to 32 minutes. This took over 10 hours!

Hello from a fellow border collie SD team.
I came across your channel a little while ago while searching for videos on flying with a service dog.
I am flying with my 2 ½ year old SD Skidboot for the first time in a month. It’s an international trip from Canada to Europe. We have two layovers. First flight is a little over an hour, second flight is 10 hours, third flight is just under an hour. Total length of trip is about 18 hours.
We’ve done a lot to prepare for the trip, but it’s still super stressful. Wish us luck!

I see a lot of questions relating to the DOT form, I’m going to try to clarify. Also, feel free to ask questions.
In the United States, per the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA) that was put in place in 2021, you have to fill out a DOT (Department of Transportation) form to bring a service animal. Since airports are federal property, they do not recognize service dogs in training. The main thing the form asks about are rabies vaccinations and who trained the dog (for service dog tasks). You can put yourself as the trainer. Since the form is a federal document, you can be charged with lying on a federal form, which is a felony. If you’re caught, felonies are punishable by more than a year in federal prison.

@@bruh-ItsTokyo ah, I see. The ultimate test, a person who may be a threat. The one time someone actually gets caught. Even a well socialized pet should have minimal reaction. It seems like the people who fake service dogs have the worst behaved dogs.

I recommend watching dog training videos. A person with a service dog will probably not help you with training tips. They are not dog trainers. They are just people trying to live their life.

I think it was about 3 hours. California to Denver was about 2 and after lay over. Denver to Wichita was about an hour.

Were you required to have a note from a dr about your service dog or just a dot

Denver's pet relief area is DISGUSTING. My SDiT absolutely refuses to use it, and tbh I don't blame her. Last time I was there, urine was leaking out into the hallway 🤢

what did you do to register your dog as a service animal? did they ask for any proof?

    • @K9Blueprint
      @K9Blueprint  3 роки тому +2

Now I’m assuming you are in the USA. There are registers in Canada, UK and Australia. Though to be completely honest I’m to familiar with those. Now the US does not have a Government run Service animal registration. Now there are several people who have made a lot of money selling people US service dog registration. They charge $200-$600 for a peace of paper and maybe a cheap vest and tag. These mean %110 nothing. They don’t even ask for any of the dog’s training or a doctor’s note. If anything it makes life for the rest of us who didn’t fall for this fake money scams harder because stores that don’t want dogs there expect to see ID/papers when none really exist. I alway recommend to people who are new to service dogs to look up and get to know the ADA law (Americans with disabilities act). In a way the law is our registry. Businesses and handlers should go by what is written in the law. I have it linked on my website www.K9BluePrint.com along with more service dog information. A quick google search normally easily brings up the ADA. Please don’t fall for all the scam sites that say they will register your dog as a service animal. There is a lot more to a service dog then “registration” it is a lot of training! Thank you for your question, I hope this helped. Let me know if you have any farther questions.

@@K9Blueprint There aren't registers in the UK, it's just a common misconceptions that causes way to many access issues than it should.

Thank you for the info! Like I said I’m not too knowledgeable about the laws out of my country.

    • @magi_kat

From my understanding when flying (in the USA) with a service dog you just need proof of a rabies shot to give to the airline. Some service dog handlers will bring a doctor's note and proof of any tests their service dog has passed (like the public access test) but airlines can't legally ask you to provide those.
