@@rc59191 No, we were hanging around a camp in a city while Lincoln came in on a carriage and eventually had an argument with his son. Simplicity in context, intent with an aim to imitate historical accuracy with some of the most talented people around. Light in action and audio but in a greater sense, it is truly one of the greatest movie ever made. Lincoln was truly there in person; culled from the many books that we have ever read or visualize of the person. Some critique you may wish to land on this, but we all see without any shadow of doubt; the genius of Steven Spielberg.

President Lincoln was the epitome of leadership, no he did not fight in a singular battle, his words and spirituality was at every skirmish and battle. The future of our country rests upon his shoulders. Once he had Grant at the helm, I feel a portion of that great weight was taken from His shoulders, knowing Grant could lead the military to sure victory.
What we need now is a leader to emerge that will decide with equity and fairness to ALL. To decide what this most grand country will do in our future.
We can not allow the lives and sacrifices that we're Lain upon the alter of freedom to be put asunder by petty issues.
I was an American fighting soldier, my blood stained the lands of 3 different countries, but I still came back more of a citizen and man when I stepped foot back into this free and prosperous country. Let us step forward together for the good of all of us and not be so divided.
Other countries look towards the United States as a lighthouse to guide humanity in what is best for the people of the planet we call earth.

Lincoln was disliked by a majority of Americans on both sides during the Civil war. He got less than 40% of the vote in 1860 and only 55% in the Union states in 1864. Arguably a fascinating story to tell - if not just as good as DKG book - would be Ted Widmer's "Lincoln on the Verge." Magnificent storytelling with a fresh angle on the ever fascinating Lincoln pre-presidency..

Blows my mind when I see people making ignorant comments:
"Lincoln was a racist, he didn't free the slaves"!
    SMH!🙄

My husband and I saw this film the night before the Academy Awards. It was extraordinary and left us speechless. It also makes me wonder how Lincoln would react to the last 4 years of disgrace we’ve lived through. Our democracy is so fragile.

Its a shame America went from Lincoln to the most sleazy President in the white house right now.

We can only put down our heads in shame (Mr. Trump). The office of president must be occupied by a person of absolute integrity, honesty and deep commitment to the values of the (entire) nation they govern.

Man I just wanted to see Mr. Lewis working, ya know?? What didn't wind up in the movie.
I so wanted to just get a glimpse of what he was like in between takes. Really sucks that they didn't show any footage of that.
