I have been working as an engineering intern at Embraer since April. Due to the pandemic, I work from home, but I had the opportunity to get to know the facilities of São José dos Campos. As an engineering student and aviation enthusiast it was a fantastic experience.
Living in Brazil I have hd the opportunity to travel in all commercial aircraft manufactured by Embraer, starting with the EMB110, EMB120, ERJ135, ERJ145, ERJ190 and ERJ195. And also, once, I visited the Gaviao Peixoto unit. Impressive!
I tried to get to study at ITA, a university attached to the Embraer manufacturing campus. I got a chance to visit the runway back in the days when the Embraer 170 was just recently launched. When I was visiting thr campus, I stood by the runway and witnessed a E-170 prototype taking off as a ERJ-145 chased it flying along the runway. It was really cool to see that.
I love seeing people try to pronounce Portuguese words as a Brazilian. The narrator said José in a Spanish pronunciation so many times that it was really cute. (In Portuguese, J is pronounced like the S in "pleasure").

I actually really like this idea, sure it can be Googled but stuff like which routes are the heaviest, which route they're usually flying their 74s on etc would be cool. I'm not sure if its true but I heard UPS flies 74s into China (via ANC) because they're only allowed so many flights in per day
I have flown in the Banderante, EMB 120,140,145, E170 and E175. Not in Brazil but in the US and Europe. I have also visited the factory in Sao Jose dos Campos on 5 occasions. The design and quality of the E 170,175 family is impressive and found the engineers to be as good if not better than those at Boeing or Airbus. I hope they succeed going forward, they deserve it.
I’ve lived in Sao Jose for almost 2 decades and visited the production sites a few times as my parents used to be engeneers at Embraer. This company is the proud of SJC.
ERJ195. This was the first aircraft I every flew on when I started my career as cabin crew. I worked for the now defunct FlyBE, the international launch customer of the type. G-FBEN was was my favourite 😍
I visited Embraer's plant in São José dos Campos in 1994, when they were designing the very first ERJ model. They had a life-size prototype of the jet, which visitors could go inside and get a feeling for the experience in the passenger's cabin. At the time, one could barely realize how successful that aircraft family would become. Years after, I had the pleasure of traveling on Embraer ERJ planes both in Europe and in the US, surprised to see how silently and smothly they fly.
Very good video, as usual. Just a note. As you know the language in Brazil is Portuguese and the letter J in José is spelled the same as in English, when you say Joseph ! Note that hearing "Hosé", instead of José is quite irritating for most Brazilians !
In the '80s and '90s I flew the Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante 19 passenger airplane and the 30 passenger EMB-120 Brasilia - both great airplanes. I also picked up a Brasilia from the factory and enjoyed their hospitality when I got a ride in their Tucano trainer. The ride included an ejection seat operational briefing by a technician who spoke no English, and his instructions were translated to me via our Embraer sales rep... What could possibly go wrong?
My favorite Embraer jet was the classic Embraer ERJ-145 flown by many U.S. regional airlines but now my favorite commercial jet is the Classic E-175 E-Jet and my favorite business jet is the Embraer Legacy 450! I’ve been on all the jets mentioned above…
Just a little tip when speaking words and names from portuguese speaking countries: our letter J's pronunciation is closer to English than to Spanish. So, in José, you can use the same sound for the letter J as you get on Jet, instead of the "spanish" J, that for us, sound like the letter R.
oh I like them all but the E-Jets are top favorites with the E2 the chief kiss toppings to booth here to them becoming more successful in the future. GO EMBAER !!!!!
Nice video. If I'm not mistaken, after partnering with Sierra Nevada corp. they produce A-29 in US soil in Jacksonville, FL. Note: In portuguese, the letter "J" has the same pronunciation as in John, Joseph, Jojo and José, not like the raspier "H" used in spanish.
Just a small correction on narrator's pronunciation. He pronounced the name of city, Jose, with Spanish accent, which is different from Portuguese. "J", in Portuguese, has close pronunciation as J in English, or as he pronounced Rio de Janeiro.
Will the Gripen-E be built at any of these locations, or are they starting a separate production line? If Brazil funds development of a carrier-based Gripen, it's likely export models could be built by Embraer like McDonnell Douglas did with the Harrier II.
The Gripen F was developed and will be built in São Bernardo do Campo by Saab Aeronáutica Montagens that was another brazilian aerospace company that was bought by saab but i dont remember the name exactly, but it will also involve production in a Embraer manufacturing plant. And its pretty improbable that there will be a Sea Gripen, a brazilian carrier is planned for 2040, after the navy finishes construction of 6 nuclear subs. So most likely it will be another fighter, maybe even a 6th gen design made fully in brazil, i mean its not impossible but only if Bolsonaro doesnt completely destroy our economy.
I used to work for Virgin Blue in Australia when they took delivery of some E170s and E190s. Wasn't on it myself, but i believe the ferry flight went up through the Americas via Alaska and Japan and then down through Asia to get to the home base in Brisbane.
I lived in SJC for years, flew in the Brasilia prototype & almost got a job there… it would have changed my life if I got that job but destiny had other plans
Never been on an Embraer aircraft, just seen them. People that 2-2 seating layout is a dealbreaker for short flights and the E2s can fly 3h easily, so would they be better than a 737 or A320 for those flights for the passenger?
I have been a passenger on several E175 flights and they have all been flawless. I would rather spend 90 minutes on an E-Jet than 60 minutes on one of their older E145s. The E145s are just too small for my liking.
Embraer needs to step on Airbus and Boeing’s neck! Time to step up and build an A320 and 737 competitor. The Chinese or Russian can’t do it. Embraer has the know-how with 50 years of experience. Stop the duopoly!
Embraer would not do it without a powerful partner, its quite risky. Right now the Company is investing in turboprops so its going neck to neck with ATR and in the military with Lockheed's C130 J with the KC-390.
Probably not much, all embraer employees receive more than enough to live a comfortable middle class life in Brazil, depending on your position on the company, it can be even higher, but yes, they pay less than European or American companies, because the cost of living in Brazil is significantly cheaper
@@patrickaccioly4398 Yeah true. Labor is cheap in Brazil not because the workers are underpaid or have bad conditions like it's common in Asia, but because the local currency is cheap in comparison to the USD. So they earn less in USD but actually can have a good living condition. It's one of the few cases where a devalued currency can be beneficial
Labor cost are far from low in Brazil, as the other guy said, it's more like a currency illusion. Nonetheless, that's also why American Airlines has an maintenance facility in São Paulo (GRU): although adequately paid by Brazilian highly restrictive labor legislation, it's cheaper than in the US.
I've only flown on Boeing or Airbus jets. The smallest planes I've flown on were the turboprop planes that used to fly from Kerry to Dublin run by Aer Arann and then by Stobart for Aer Lingus regional. Aer Lingus don't operate that route anymore. Ryanair operate it now, which means it's a 737 jet on the route. I've never flown with Ryanair.

it's São José not San Rosê, the J sound like J not R and the ão sound like an'o not an, Portuguese is also a tonic language especially the African and Brazilian Portuguese, the vowel sounds are more open and diferent tons generate diferent words sometimes like the diference beteewn grandma = " avó" and grandpa = " avô" , so is JosÉ not Josê for us sound like diferent words, and for not create confusing with the Californian San Josê witch sound similar the full name of the city is São José dos Campos translating to english would be Saint Joseph from Fields
As a Portuguese, I'm always proud to see any Portuguese-language based company thrive. Never had the luck of flying on an Embraer, but would love to
Gisela, I hope you can soon hop on a Tap Express E190!
Já viajei algumas vezes, pela Tap, são aviões agradáveis!

Just Flying from London to Belfast in one of those..

I loved this Brazilian aerial content.
Embraer has a name and reputation in aviation that is really hard to achieve.
I often pass at São José dos Campos with car. I am always happy to see the airport with Embraer manufacturing plant 😃
The E175 is my favorite single aisle. I'll take it over the 737s and 320s any day! I haven't had the pleasure of being on an E195 yet.
I’ve flown on two Delta Connections E175s, and my favorite Embraer is the E195-E2. 🇧🇷

Love seeing Embraer portrayed here but I cried everytime "José" was pronounced in spanish.
Flying with KLM Cityhopper in a Embrear E 190 E2 a great wat of flying.
I absolutely love the ERJ-175s tho 😍
Embraer Praetor 600 is the best medium range aircraft for a decent price point and excellent nautical range.
Wao...!! Bravo Embraer...! Keep it up and may God continue to bless you.....
E-190, remember preferring the 2x2 cabin on these when I would fly JetBlue a lot.

Brazil
I find that the new E2 makes a really weird sound when it taxis to runway
This characteristic sound is not exclusive to the Embraer E-Jets E2, as it is also present in the Airbus A220 family.
Brazil would be the short answer I'm sure of it!
The city is pretty sleek, but employability is very low right now.
