Kanami has indeed said that Miku can strum & shred waaay faster than her. That doesn't mean she's as technically proficient as Mincho but sensei is teaching her pupil well. Great vid btw :)

Band Maid XMAS song: Miku the red rose pigeon/ Had a very shiny rose/ And when Saiki heard the news/ She went and bought some shoes/ All of the other Band- Maids/ MISA Akane and Kanami/ They all helped the small pigeon/ Play in perfect harmony/ Then one quiet Christmas eve/ Santa came to say/ Miku with your band so tight/ Won't you play an okyu-ji tonight/ Then all the Band-Maids shredded/ Like they do normally/ Miku the red rose pigeon/ You're part of musical history

Spinal Tap: We have an amp that goes to 11, just in case.
BAND-MAID: We have a metronome that goes to 300, just in case.
Since I've been following BAND-MAID, Miku has gone from holding a guitar to a legit guitarist. I admire her dedication to making this band successful.

What is 10 to the power of 100? The number of grains of sand on a beach? The number of stars in the observable universe? A Googol? Nope! It's the amount of music molecules in any given Band-Maid song. And Ryan has his guitar and pencil out to break THAT down. Gotta love Mr. Albert Einstein Mear for believing... and for giving us another great show! 😄

@@GaryHolloway-810 Thank you for the heads up on Rant & Chill. I was kind of suspicious about the title of Which band is better, Lovebites or Band Maid. As such I'll avoid his channel going forward as he seems to have vastly different tastes in music than I do. I don't know about other Madiacs but I'm learning to stay away from toxic reactioneur's who make provocative comments about the quality of music BM plays. I myself actually like Lovebites but their songs do not resonate nearly as much as BM ones. I'll listen to the same BM song multiple times whereas not so much with Lovebites.

Beethoven’s early string quartets are simple, melodic, and accessible for just about every listener. Subsequent compositions become progressively more complex. The late quartets are very challenging, barely comprehensible, off putting even. But they eventually reward the dedicated listener in a way that simpler works just can’t. I think about those quartets every time I watch the Manners/Black Hole video.

    • @powbobs
      @powbobs 3 роки тому +1

There’s a reason the late quartets are rarely played.

There's kind of a thing where (especially on the studio versions), just like everybody complains about Kanami's guitar being too quiet, everybody complains about Kobato's backing vocals being hard to hear.
But the reason everybody complains about it is because we're all trying to hear them because they're both soooo gooooood. And honestly I suspect that having to make that extra effort makes them sound so much sweeter.

Hey Ryan. I think I may have mentioned in another video about this but the way I broke down the beginning was Miku's rhythm is set to a 12/8 pattern and the rest of the band comes in with a straight 4 over top. If you try to play Miku's part in a 4 feel it can mess you up lol. We have only so many neurons to go around haha.

Miku shines throughout Unseen World as having made an ungodly amount of progress in a very short time. She held down all those weirdly time rhythm parts while singing harmonies and/or counter melodies to Saiki. That's laser-like focus and I think her stupid amounts of cuteness belie her equally stupid amounts of intelligence and grit.

This song sounds to me (and I have zero knowledge of music theory) like things are constantly sliding in and out of time or that time is getting stretched or contracted in parts. Kind of how a black hole's gravity would mess with the passage of time itself. The only band I've ever heard with complete mastery of messing with the timing this much is Meshuggah.

You probably already saw the update from them today: The official score book "BAND-MAID Official Score for Unseen World" will be released next year on January 31, 2022! I have the one for World Domination and it contains a good sampling of the songs from the album. It has the complete composition of the selected songs including the vocal lines. Makes it much easier to figure out what they are doing on their various instruments. I have it for future reference, since my guitar playing is much too crappy at the moment, to attempt anything much from the score book.

Props to you for even trying to tackle this song, even if you were originally planning to do 'Giovanni' lol!
This song is just absolute madness, I often catch myself just completely zoned out when listening to it, just sucked into this black hole of the soundscape they're providing! It's otherworldly what they're doing.
And don't take this the wrong way, but I actually enjoy seeing you struggle figuring out how to play the riffs, makes it feel authentic, you know. And it shows me and probably other people who are learning guitar that even at your level, this stuff is not easy!
Really enjoyed the deep dive again, wouldn't even mind another followup once you have the official score book, hahaha!

I can only imagine that while the rest of the band was in the studio, practicing the song, Saiki was out running marathons. To build up the stamina and breath control to sing this monster. Yeesh! I run out of breath singing in it incorrectly in my truck on the way to work, as it blares in my CD player. Uh... not that I ever try to sing in a foreign language, in the privacy of the drivers seat, thus butchering a song.
