What I love about this car is that, practically, the car is ruined. They've put an engine where the rear seats would be, and it's not that much faster than the normal sport 0-60. It is ruined in the name of speed and I love it.

French always had these cars - Renault 5 Turbo/Peugeot 106 etc. The idea was to make a small car go fast thanks to low weight. There was never anything practical in mind of creators when it comes to sports cars. It wasn't that practical before either, you buy vans and combis for that honestly. It's all about fun.
One of the first Clio V6 (a "phase 1") to be sold in Portugal was sent to the island here. The Renault Dealer Mechanic who came to pick it up from the docks - I suspect - never drove an MR car in its life, and this model, in particular, was known for its... "unfriendly" handling. Anyway, he drove less than a mile after entering a spin in a roundabout. It was a write-off. (Insurance paid for it, I´ve been told)
Pity this car came about *after* the demise of Group B rallying. This damn thing would have been one hell of a Group B rally car back in the day. It might not have beaten the Audi Sport Quattro...But it would have cleaned up!

Engine cover is off. It's a mid-engined hatch, so there aren't a ton of ways to do it without sacrificing the rear window which is essential to the whole hatchback concept, although it was never meant to be practical. Just pure hotness.

All cars do it. Turn the key with the fan and radio, don't crank the engine and you'll hear the fuel pump.
