Can confirm it was definitely a dirty place back in the day I was at Cabra station everyday in the early 2000s

Cabbra is super tame now, it was fucked back in the day…absolutely insane how much it’s changed
Cabra especially around John St is a semi trendy area now, heaps of busy restaurants, shops and bakeries open till late, heaps of families, etc.

In Cabra we always had the best cars from the 90s onwards nothing has changed!!

I grew up there back in the 1980’s. Heroine was a real problem back then. China town was the epicentre for dealers back then dealing ‘H’. Car break ins. You couldn’t park in that multi deck car park without your car being broken into. I used to sit in the park by the Police boys club was full of people picking up drugs. Hugh Street just outside China town was pretty shocking too. This is like a trip down memory lane for me.

Yep I played with Mounties until Cabra offered me match payments.. Mounties we went undefeated for 2 seasons but our team was stacked with future NRL first graders
Grew up in & around the area, went to school with Tony Houng.. Cabramatta was fucking hectic in early 90’s to late 90’s.. you’d get off the train & by the time you walked over the bridge you’d have at least 20 peeps “you right bra” it was wild times & we all enjoyed ourselves to a degree..
Cabramatta would be 1 of the safest areas in Sydney now, I love going out for a feed to the restaurant behind BK
i was a 10/13yrs Cabramatta station runner back in the late 80s ealry 90s it was chaos, we are not all in jail
Local born in the seventies and I’m fairly sure Cabramatta was the first place to ever get cctv on the streets
@@michellee8369 not wrong every street and corner had them we even had a police beat cctv station corner of John street where they were checking footage as it happened and that was around 94 till 2000
Mekong Club was hectic, but there was also the STardust Hotel, and the Cabra Railway Hotel always played cool bands too.

Been in Cabra since late 80s,Cabra was originally dominated by Europeans, mainly yugo’s and Italians. The gates were open for refugees/immigration by Mr Goth Whitlam in the late 70s and Cabra become flooded by Vietnamese/chinese, and some Cambodians as well. They worked hard, set up a lot businesses and trading shops, restaurants etc.
Unfortunately a lot of racism during that period and society at the time did not really welcome asians to Cabra, But they were resilient, persistent and committed to having a better life in Australia, and battled on.
The drugs and gangs were an image and life choice to get in on the money protect , defend and fit into society. As bad as it sounds the younger generation can thank the gangs, crime sweat blood and tears of the good and the bad, that is today’s Cabramatta.
NOTE: majority of law enforcement during that period were corrupt, Cabra turned the page in early 2000s when they built the new cop shop which came with a new commissioner.

Yeah you’d get locked up and just about everyone would be laying out in the sun Darcy 1 & 2 cause 80% of us were going through withdrawals, still though that was proper jail still not like nowadays

When people from other countries come to your country,the council always put them together in one area.
Then their culture shines 😂 It’s not up to the council where they go, they now spread them out all across small towns and now sex crimes etc all go up in those areas.
Been happening forever, some people build cities, towns, businesses, then some other migrants turn areas that were decent into ghettos
Council has nothing to do with housing arrangements, all that is the responsibility of the state government but a lot of people from other countries will gravitate to certain areas based on things like services available, shops, restaurants, where their family lives etc
The people themselves choose to live together because, they're racist and don't want to integrate with white Australians

I had a beautiful black 94 supra for 10 years, NAUTIA plates and l truly miss my black beauty as l had to sell her due to financial reasons after a divorce, before that I owned a frog rotary lol, a green Mazda rx7 that was off its chops. How l miss owning a car that makes me feel excited when you wake up in the morning and realise that you get to drive such a vechical, l miss miss miss my cars. I ended driving a v8 statesman and l still wanted to go back in time to own a supra. You might wanna fix ya title mate, Cabra ain't no drug capital of Australia. Look at the recent ACIC report, Victoria consumed almost as much heroine as the rest of the country combined (456kg vs 544kg). And it's been that way forever because the heroine supply and distribution capital is Sunshine/St Albans. Same with MDMA and Meth (anything imported). This is because the majority of drugs imported come in container shipping and Port Melbourne is the largest container port in Australia by far. Almost 3x more tonnes of imports come through Port Melbourne than the Port of Sydney (79 million tonnes vs 29 million tonnes). So most of the Importers and distributors are based in Melbourne and obviously the prices are going to be cheaper in Melbourne so it's not rocket science why Victoria consumes as much heroine as the rest of Australia combined.
And we're not just talking about the Vietnamese in Sunshine but remember Underbelly and the gangland wars? All the heavy hitters were from Sunshine, Carl Williams, Andrew Veniamin, Dino Dibra, Rocco Arico etc.
