good job ben! i have an idea for a video; talk about how did you become a motion designer, your entire story! i'd really appreciate it because i want to follow a similar path as yours, you're very inspiring. Keep up the good work man!!
Thanks so much! That's an amazing suggestion :D You're going to be very happy, I'll be doing more videos about my journey and the industry, freelance, business, showreels in the near future. And also another project on the horizon with more of that stuff too. :)
This is awesome! Id personally love a speed art / full breakdown of the creation of this! even a non edited version would be spectacular! something to really dive down into your thought process and experimentation - the journey to the final piece
Great ideas in this video! Love what you did with the inside of the mushroom and will try to keep the "Shift Channels" effect in mind. I assume Ben's familiar with this, but for the benefit of other viewers, there's a small optimization that could be made at 7:00 - instead of copying the keyframes a bunch of times, I'd use the loopOut("pingpong"); expression. That way changes can be made easier afterwards. Only one keyframe/curve to edit + if the the comp is made longer, no need to copy-paste more frames.
Thanks so much! Excellent expression. This would have been a perfect time to use that. Sometimes I get errors from loopOut expressions that I can't understand to often I get frustrated and just copy and paste, haha but that's on me. :D
Ben Marriott wants us to always label our layers. If we label our layers, we will save time. If we save time, we have more time. If we have more time, we have more life. Ben Marriott wants to save our lives. Ben Marriott saves lives.
This is wonderful! I'm going to try to incorporate this style for one of my class projects as part of a title for Alice in Wonderland :) thank you for sharing!
Hey Ben, would it be possible for you to make a tutorial on your methods on creating/animating those sort of "tropical" leaves in your intro? I've been looking around on youtube trying to find tutorials, but I can't seem to find anything on the design process.
The Gal Shir has a pretty good process of drawing those leaves. ua-cam.com/video/yh1Q12Xlpkw/v-deo.html :) There's nothing too complicated, just a few tricks to getting the shapes correct. :)
Hello Ben your tutorail is very great, thanks ! But I have a problem with my exporting layers from procreate to PSD. When I export layers from procreate in Photshop sizes of layers are the canva size and not the size of viewables pixels. How do you fix that to use your layers in AE ? Thanks !!
And another faster : Open the exported psd in Photoshop, select the crop tool and expand the canvas a little. It doesn't seem to matter which edge is expanded or by how much. Afterwards all layer bounds are reduced to the actual layer contents and you can adjust your canvas size to match the original size.
Honestly im bored with animated flat icons, intros or vectors tutorials. your channel is a gem
Thanks so much! I always find there's not enough tuts about workflows more intense than using vectors and shape layers. :)
Ben Marriott THANK YOU for sharing. You deserve more subscribers. Keep up the good work man!
Flat icons can be either great or tasteless. That's a thing I learned
awesome, finally somthing artistic and not just technic, ty

Hello Ben your tutorail is very great, thanks ! But I have a problem with my exporting layers from procreate to PSD. When I export layers from procreate in Photshop sizes of layers are the canva size and not the size of viewables pixels. How do you fix that to use your layers in AE ? Thanks !!
I found a issue : Convert your layers in smart object.
And another faster : Open the exported psd in Photoshop, select the crop tool and expand the canvas a little. It doesn't seem to matter which edge is expanded or by how much. Afterwards all layer bounds are reduced to the actual layer contents and you can adjust your canvas size to match the original size.
Yes I love to speak alone
that commercial though
Haha, I hope you don't mind it :)
Could you do a video for beginners pleaseeee . Ive been living your videos but im barley understanding because im only a beginner.
When I first saw this I thought it was a nose.... didn't think "mushroom"
Ok guys look if you dont have procreate sketchbook pro is basically the same but not with everything but good enough
Could I use this loop for my Instagram I’m a music producer and would look cool dancing to the music was just a query
Why you never use Echo effect instead of duplicating layers like 1000 times?
Did I just get mooned by a bat?
Haha, that's right
I cant draw
i don't have money :'(
