Instructional Series - Internal Blinds Magnet Fix
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- Today, Brian walks us through a problem that could arise with integrated blinds that has a deceptively easy fix. If your internal blinds aren't lowering or raising properly, it could be an internal problem-- with magnets! Thankfully, the fix just involves realigning the slider with the mechanisms inside. Brian shows us how.

Worked !!! That interal info was priceless. When u understand how something works u can fix it
Happy to help!
I've been dealing with this for so long and couldn't figure out why the magnetic would disengage everytime, now matter how many times I'd feel it reconnect. This just fixed the issue on both sides of the door!
Thanks! We were preparing to hire someone to fix this problem. Took only a matter of minutes to fix once I watched the video. In fact, it took me longer to walk to the door than it did to fix. Great job!
Happy to help! Glad it was an easy fix.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I didn’t have to remove the magnet completely as I felt like it was going to break something if I pulled hard enough to remove it. So I just titled it away from the glass and moved it to the bottom; then slowly brought it up feeling and hearing the clicks all the way to the top. The last one at the very top I had to force, but it worked like a charm. Blind raises and lowers without any issues. I’m so happy. I thought it was ruined.
So happy to hear this! As nice as the blinds work when everything is right, it definitely CAN be tricky to get the magnets realigned if they pop out for any reason. Glad you were able to troubleshoot it through to fixing it!
Thank you... this has been driving me crazy for the last month!!!
Absolutely! Happy to help!
Yay!!! Our door blinds fixed! BOOM!! THANK YOU!!!!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching and we're happy to help!
Thank you!! Other videos just said raise and lower it a bit, very frustrating. All fixed!
Happy to help!
Thank you so much for this! I thought I broke my mom's fancy window treatment, but this was an easy fix.
Happy to help! Glad it worked out.
Thank you so much! It was definitely an easy fix. Five star review for sure!
Glad it helped!
Worked in 3.2 seconds. Amazing!
That's a world record!
Yay! Been broken for a week, and this totally fixed it!
!! Sorry that it broke in the first place, but we love that you got it fixed!
Fixed - thanks! Really like this door
Happy to help! Glad it got worked out.
Thank you so much for this video! Worked the first time I tried it!
You're very welcome! Glad it helped. :)
Thanks. I though that. I had to replace the whole thing. Thanks again!
Glad to help!
UA-cam fix for the win again! I even heard the same click/thud when I got the magnets to reconnect. No need to call Pella.
Glad it worked! That's what these videos are here for. :)
Yes! Thank you so much for this! Saved me money! My husband was 😠
Oh gosh. That's why we're here to help!
Thanks
Absolutely!!
Thank you I'll try it on my door
Let us know how it goes!
I broke my mom's door last night and this worked thank you so much 😂
Good to hear!!!
This video saved me around $300, thank you!
Nice! Happy to help.
Thank you! I thought this would be a headache to fix right now
Happy to help!
WOW! THANK YOU so much!!!!! 👏👍💪
Absolutely! Happy to help!
I did all that but the blinds only operate on the top quarter of the door. I get the two clicks but it still won't operate properly. Is there anything else I can do? Thank you
Unfortunately, after asking Brian, his recommendation is to schedule service to replace. There may be something not working internally that a simple adjustment like this won't fix.
More than happy to help you find the right service department!
Thanks ! Worked !
Happy to help!
Thank you so much!!!!! Fixed my door!
Glad we could help!!!
Thank you, it worked.
Awesome! Glad to help!
thank you so much!!!
You're welcome! Glad to help :)
What about just the tilt? We have two knobs. One for the blinds going up and down and the other that just controls the tilt and it’s the top knob that controls the tilt that somehow disconnected from a magnet and now doesn’t open and close the tilt properly.
If the tilt operation isn't working, we'd recommend having the slide operator replaced by your local Pella service. That slide doesn't have near as much travel as the up and down operator does, so something is likely needing internal work.
Thanks for the question and sorry that it's likely not a DIY solution! But happy to help regardless.
How did you take the slider off, mine got hit and I need to take off and fix so I can get the magnets working again
Just use a little bit of pressure with your hands to get some leverage underneath and you can pull it right off! Be careful though, this is a 250 series and not every slider operates the same. We definitely don't want you damaging the operation!
Great video.
Wonder if you know where one can find parts for the magnetic operator in Canada? A metal stick for one side of the plastic wheel within the magnetic operator was missing for my internal blinds. Mine is exactly the same as what you showed in the video. Any information will be appreciated.
Hey there, I'm sure your local Pella branch can order and ship these parts for you. Depending on where you are in the country it could be one of several branches. I definitely recommend Googling "Pella" and the city you live in to bring up the closest local branch, and giving them a call.
Thanks for watching and we're happy to help!
Mine are still stuck halfway. I've tried pushing it up to reconnect and get through both of the snaps, but it then it gets halfway down and then snaps hard and falls again to the bottom. Meanwhile the blinds are not rising or lowering anymore. I don't know how to fix it.
Oh no! Unfortunately this doesn't sound like something that can be fixed from home. We'd love to help you connect with your local Pella dealer to get the glass replaced as there may be a broken mechanism inside.
Thank you and good luck!
I did everything you explained but mine still doesn’t work 😢
Oh no! If these steps aren't helping, our recommendation is to get a hold of your local Pella branch to get set up with service. Happy to help if that's the case!
How about then the blind is out of track?
Best idea in this case is to call a Pella tech to come out and assist. We'd be happy to help!
Would this not imply that is this is a common problem maybe address it from factory perhaps stronger magnets???
Accidents happen! Stronger magnets bring their own problems, making the blinds harder to open. A gentle touch with these is the way to go.
But we hear you! Definitely room for improvement, always. Pella prides itself on innovation.
Mine get fixed and with the first move breaks again , what should I do ?
Oof. Sounds like there's something internal that needs to be fixed beyond just resetting the magnets... Our recommendation is to have a Pella technician come out to take a look. I'd start by calling your local Pella branch. Hope this gets resolved for you!
So what do we do when only the top magnet engages (no 2nd click) and will no longer grab and slide down or pull the shades up at all?!
Unfortunately, this sounds like it's out of the realm of DIY. Pella would need to come out and service the unit, likely replacing the blinds between the glass. Sorry for the bad news, but we'd be happy to help you get set up with a service call. :)
How do you fix the tilt mechanism when it won't tilt the blinds all the way?
Ooh, that's a tough one... Not too sure there's a best recommendation as far as fixing yourself. I asked Brian what he would do and his response is to 'have the local branch replace the glass or the slide channel.' Sounds like there could be one or several things interrupting the blinds from tilting completely.
More than happy to help you get service from your local branch!
Thanks for the response.
What if I only get the snap in you show in the video when I push the magnet toward the top. I can't get the magnets to snap at the lower part of the window? What might be wrong?
A bit iffy on this one. As long as it connects to all the magnets at the top and operates fine the bottom snap isn't necessary. If connected at top but it still isn’t operating properly, you would need new glass with blinds.
Hi, I heard the two clicks and did as shown in the video, but my blinds still do not retract up or down. The blinds just switch backwards or forwards. HELP!
Hmmhmm. Well that's not what we want to have happen... Brian chiming in here, he says that if it reconnected but there's still no movement, you will have to either have the glass replaced or have a new panel. Something is probably broken internally.
Probably not the news you wanted to hear but there's always a way forward! Just not a DIY way. We'd be happy to help connect you to your local Pella office for service! :)
Hi, I have been raising and lowering the operator to my internal blind without any luck. This morning I put all my weight into it and did hear the double click but it didn't fix the disconnected magnet situation. Any advice, please???
Good question! While these videos have great tips, they definitely aren't like having a technician out at the house. We'd be happy to send someone out to see you!
As for a quick fix, the first recommendation that came back is to remove the magnet slider, move it to the bottom, and repeat the process by sliding it up and hearing the click once again. There might be something internally that's not catching, so let's try it one more time and see what happens?
How do I reattach the magnet to the blinds themselves? I have a bunch of windows with integral blinds and most have the inside piece unattached from the blinds, I can hook the handle back up outside, but it still does nothing until I can reattach the inside part to the blinds.
Great question Josh and sorry for the delayed response. Looks like this slipped through... My apologies.
The best answer that I have on hand is that this is not a simple DIY fix. We would recommend having a service technician come out to your residence to perform troubleshooting and/or maintenance. I'm more than happy to get you set up with the appropriate department!
So an easy fix, only question I have is how to close the blind?
Once you get the magnets aligned, closing the blinds should be a simple matter of moving the slider slightly up or down depending on your preference. Once the blinds close, moving the slider more will raise or lower them entirely.
@@pellanorthcarolina thank you for the reply, the lowering and raising worked great once the maghets were aligned. However the blinds to not close :(
@@gabesterh1313 Have you tried adjusting slowly? The blinds should close with just a little bit of force moving the slider up or down. Now it could be possible you're on a different model of door which would have a second lever.
@@pellanorthcarolina I will try closing slowlt and thank you for your help! The doors came with our house, built in summer 2018 and purchased May 2021. We've had slight issues but now they're fully open and letting heat come in.
Anyplace on the track I can take off?
I'd recommend getting it to where it's not locked in with the blinds or shades. In the video Brian has it all the way at the bottom when he takes it off.
How long to the blinds last
Our blinds come with the product's Limited Lifetime Warranty. Please feel free to find more details for specific products at www.pella.com/support/warranties/
how do you get the top magnet back in
Hmm, good question. Without looking at it directly I'm not exactly sure what you mean. If the top magnet has fallen inside the door I definitely think that we should come out and take a look at it.
Every video I've watched, they say the same thing. You'll hear it cluck twice. But what if you dont?
If there's an issue with the internal blinds and the magnet fix here doesn't work, our suggestion is to call your local Pella branch to receive direct service. I'm more than happy to help connect you!
Where can I get a replacement.
Your best bet is to call your local showroom for replacement parts (or units) and service.
Where I can get the magnet white part , I lost it
Your local Pella branch has a parts directory they can order from. I'm happy to help you get that number!
Thanks so much. Just fix a magnet that my kids destroyed
Oh no! Gotta love em. Happy to help :)
Didn't show what happens if you can't open and close the blinds.
Oh no. If you're having trouble tilting the blinds closed, you'll either need a new piece of glass or have the slider operator replaced. More than happy to help set that up for you!
