By far one of the most memorable stories I’ve seen at any IF4 viewings. So glad it won IF4 2023. So glad i found it online to share the actual film that I’ve only been able to tell to them.
Thank you to all the people involved in creating such a wonderful and uplifting video!

She's not just a fair weather fisher either. She hung out with myself and my fishing buddies at Doyle's on one cold rainy day for hours. She did pack it in when we did though, and saw us off up the path before heading home. I'm very thankful for the opportunity to fish with a Margaree legend. Thank you, Ella.
Great job on this film, Tim. It definitely got our votes at the festival.

I almost cried watching this. Two of my great loves, Salmon fishing and faithful dogs, what more could a person want in their life. Sad that Ella will soon no longer be with us. If the Salmon Gods were fair then Ella would live to be 100.

Wow…just blown away. Became drawn to Salmon fishing a few years back, I am a fishing freak -looked into it and found it was a “rich mans game” but for one place…The Margaree. Saw the New Fly Fisher show with Ray Plourde and Robert Chaisson on the river and had to go. Went there, fished hard all week (I have a lot to work on) and got nothing but had a magical time all the same. I stayed at the Normaway Inn - Mr MacDonald and crew were just wonderful people trying to survive, post Covid. I fished hard every day for a week, then my wife came up and met me for another week. I talked to Billy and Russell everyday - just great guys and very funny as well. I loved the Celtic music - my people come from Donegal (even though I am Boston born) and the way people are in Cape Breton reminded me of Donegal (birthplace of St Columba - who has a Church and road named after him in Cape Breton). I was watching Dollar Dog here and kept thinking the dogs owner looked familiar to me - well dam if it wasn’t Russell who I talked with every day after fishing!! I still dream about that trip and badly want to go back both for the Salmon and for the people - I will stay at the Normaway as it is the only place for me. I met Ray Plourde on my trip and what a generous man with his time! I had Robert Chaisson for a guide and I thank him for his honesty in giving advice. I loved Mr MacDonald and his brother - great guys to talk with and all the Celtic music at the Normaway, almost nightly is just awesome!!! Can’t wait to go back, it’s such a special place with special people, never mind the wild salmon. The common man can save his money and go fish there for salmon and meet great folk - not possible anywhere else on the planet. If Russell reads this - it’s Old Jim who caught the 6 pound brookie (maybe 7) ha ha ha - I went brookie fishing one day when I needed a boost from not getting a Salmon and actually caught the brook trout of a lifetime! Like I said, magic

No doubt! She didn't get through those long days at the river without some sustenance from the anglers!
