- An honest review of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's on my 2016 Ford Focus ST. These are the tires that came with the car and they have been great so far. Also some blogging at the end. Enjoy!

*I installed these on my 91 Cherokee. They are amazing! 🚘🚖 **allabout.wiki/Eagle** I can drive over snow like it is dry pavement. Off roading over sand is completely effortless in 2wd. I only ever need to shift into 4hi if I get stuck which has only happened a couple times from spinning tires over sugar sand.*
Good review, mine are pushing 18k miles with 3.5mm left, now re the MPSS, the Goodyears have an advantage, there isnt much between the tyres (the correct spelling :P ) as dry grip is similar, wet grip is better with the F1's, this is because the MPSS's are terrible in standing water (aquaplaning). Both my car and the "replacement model" run a similar power/LSD set up but mine has the F1's as oem and its brother runs the MPSS, and the biggest issue reported by owners was aquaplaning on the GTi model (its a euro car so not available in the States). Now both the F1 assy 2 and MPSS have been replaced (Assy 2 with the 3, giving an all round improvement) and the MPSS with the MPS4's (19 inch plus), these are a better tyre than the Goodyears and have resolved the issue with standing water :)
Managed to coax 60,000 kms out of mine in the UAE rotating at every 2nd 10k service, fronts were shot but plenty of tread left on the rears. Replaced all 4 in the end due to unacceptable levels of rotational (wheel bearing type) road noise from 20,000kms at anything less than 130-140 kph. Great grip under acceleration, braking and cornering so decided to go with the same again. Road noise eliminated ...let's see how they fair this time around? Just passed 66k and still smiling 😆 Enjoying your vids man!
+Neil Edward glad you like them!!
I just replaced mine with some Nankang NS-25 all season tires (i wanted a tire that would last a lot longer for a decent price) they are great tires for the price I paid and look good. I definitely liked the good year tires when I had them but i only got 23K out of them doing normal driving. Would buy them again if i was willing to drop almost $800 on 4 of them just to do that again in another 23K
I would recommend Michelin pro sport AS3
I'm at 21k on mine and they're at like 40-50% tread life. Not bad for OEM summers.
I got these puppies in 19” on my Peugeot RCZ. Love them. Grip is phenomenal, and theyre relatively comfortable and quiet. But they wear down REALLY quickly and as you said, damned expensive to replace.
Whats the size of the tire
24k on mine just about to change them PS4 or accemetric 5 but no reviews on the later as of yet
Check out Tyre reviews now. They have reviewed Asym 5.
Damn, your car vapes?
+Auto Autopsy yea I should actually show the upgraded battery pack I installed for longer drags
I found these too loud in my Hyundai Elantra nline
too
The Goodyear F1 tires are ABSOLUTE JUNK!! I have a 2012 Camaro SS with Pirelli P Zero tires as well as a 2017 Camaro SS with the Goodyear F1 tires. I've driven both vehicles from my home in Oregon to Las Vegas. The trip was amazing in my 2012 Camaro the tires were perfect in every way. Good in the wet, dry, and didn't follow the groves in the roads. They felt safe in the Nevada desert passing at 100+ mph. The trip was HORRIBLE in the 2017 Camaro with the Goodyear F1 tires! When it rains you might as well be on sheets of ice! The car is all over the road! When the roads are dry, the tires are nonstop following the grooves in the road (sometimes so bad it probably looked like I was a drunk driver!) Passing at high speed was very stressful due to the grooves they put in the middle of the road to wake up sleeping drivers. The tires want to stay in the grooves when you're crossing over the middle line! So the newer, nicer car was not good for high speed in the Nevada desert due to those dumb tires! I want to throw these Goodyear tires out, but they literally have 100% tread left on them.. I will replace them with the Pirelli P Zero before next winter for sure! On a side note, I also drove a 2013 Hyundai Veloster with stock tires on the same route and it was perfect at passing at 100+ mph too! I felt safe in that with Korean tires! So yes, you read that right! The 4 cylinder Hyundai was safer at high speed than a 2017 SS Camaro due to the Camaro's Goodyear F1 tires. All three drives were on the same route from Oregon to Vegas in mid May.
What the fuck are you talking about? I have a Cts V with these tires and they're amazing. I have yet to have any problems with them.
I would switch to the better Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5. Thats only if one sticks with goodyear if the money is no problem michelin.
Looking at your wear bar, it'd say 3/32 - 4/32 of thread. The wear bar should be 2/32
In the UK i choose Goodyear over the Michelin as they're terrible in the wet at high speed
These tires where great! I got 16k miles out of them. Normal for 240 tread wear. For $200 I don't think I'll ever use them again.
People are comparing their Used F1's to brand new cheap tires.
The Eagle F1's loose all of their grip when they're close to the wear marks. When new, they chirped a bit then gripped on launch. After 16k miles they slipped on 1st and 2nd on launch. Don't compare a worn tire to a new one.
(Reviewing from using fresh off the factory FoST w/ Eagle F1)
Ditch the GF dude.
is your head gasket gone or somthing why is your car smoking like that its not normal unless its a cold morning?
Thank you for the video. Its so hard getting a video, even a picture of a brand version with the rimprotector. Stay safe.
No problem 👍
I️ just went through a Track Day at Willow with these and they did pretty damn good! I️ wanna get some quieter rubber though for sure. But for a stock oem they’re pretty damn good!
Just wondering, could that concaving be from to high of a tire pressure? I've had that happen in off road tires, when pressures are too high.
Agree that these are very good tires. I have almost 22k on my 2015 and the tires are holding up well
Mine came equipped with the $30 pirelli all seasons... When I move out there they are getting replaced with a summer tire asap
Yikes - I'd be scared about the split in your sidewall above the rim impact. Love the rim protectors. Love the fact goodyear points that out on the tire, also! Agreed on all fronts on how good Michelin is. Good review, thanks.
What size are they.??
I opted for the 19” Michelin PS3
I like my Pirelli p zero neros m+s . Had them on my gti and now the ST.
I am considering those for my next set for sure
Just picked up a Race Red 2017 ST2. Kind of surprised how dishonest the labeling of fuel economy is for this vehicle. 30 MPG on the highway? Yeah, right! What's your average mpg?
avg mpg is currently 27.1. I agree though, I feel like it should be higher.
Sounds about right. Mine is currently 26.9 but the average is still leveling out considering I only have 600 miles on the car lol. I'm an engineer so I'm currently driving 27 miles each way to my job site so I'm now having to fill up twice a week lol. But the smiles per gallon are way up!
I get about 28 mpg varies depending on driving habits and distance I've gotten 30mpg when I drive the tank down on highway only
I get 30.2MPG it all depends on how you maintain your car and how you drive. I've seen as high as 32MPG
Matthew Decker I have a ‘14 ST with 55k and my mileage computer says 26.5 and I’m a stage 3 but my gas milage app tracker is more accurate at 24.9 mpg. I switched my driving style and drive the car higher in the revs and gets better mileage. The ecoboost 2.0 doesn’t like to be lugged and 6th gear is worthless unless you are going 70mph or above. Drive the car a bit harder and in a higher gear you might get better mileage.
Are these on your car runflat? Thanks
Rodrigo Saiki no
I burned through them within 20k, not as much grip as cheaper tires I replaced them with.
What did you replace them with?
Barum bravuris in a 245 and they seem like much better tires for around 60 bucks a piece. Was shocked on how they handled for the price.
TeamHazard joe I bought the same tires! Needed something less expensive since I drive alot....51k in year n 8mo.
i had barum they lasted like15k lol
I seem to agree with the other commenters that these tires don't grip that well compared to similar or even lower price tires. I replaced mine with firestone firehawk Indy 500s and damn, much much less torque steer, wheel spin is down by a good majority, and the turn in....they gave me a whole new car basically. Puts the power down so much better.
The F1's when new were visually stickier than the Indy 500's. The 500 are clean when I finish driving. The F1's where littered with tiny rocks and road debris, i.e. STICKY.
240 thread dies fast. 350 not so much.
Unless people here are comparing used F1's from a used FoST they bought.
Santa Six I found the same thing. The F1’s are sticky as chewing gum. Great track tire
Great review, I have noticed they don't like temps below 40, until they warm up. Hopefully they handle well in the rain.
Side note, what do you think about the ribbed plastic on the bumper? I'm not a fan.
+jeff burt in the little rain we have gotten in Phoenix these have been good. Also the plastic on the bumper has grown on me but I think the bumper on the 13’ 14’ models actually looks better. Nothing we can really do about it
RGBGFIVE
Actually, there is a different bumper to go with. What do you think about the look?

I forgot about that one. I really like it
Alot of their products look pretty good. The steering wheels are nice, and the splitters and side skirts are cool, but I'm not a fan of the wide body kit.
A weird side note, you should add a Jeep to your toy list. I think you would be a great Jeep person.
haha that is random but I don't think I will be getting a jeep anytime soon. I really like wranglers but I will probably be buying another car in the next year. Seriously considering the GLA 45AMG.
Question are these tires directional ?
Based on the pattern, I don’t think so
Really late on this reply, but yes, they are. That's where the asymmetric name comes from... Only symmetrical tires are non-directional
24?!?!? My tyres only last 6-7 :(
john jones same
+john jones how hard are you driving it?!
not that hard, but sometimes I do. Whats the point of driving sedately in a 250+bhp hatch, buy a bland grocery getter otherwise. Makes me angry people treat a high performance car like a ming vase. Drive it & enjoy or sell it! xD
Burnouts for DAYS.
Goodyear Eagle F1....really good tire, pffffft.....got rid of mine after 19,000 miles, replaced with Michelin PSS, only tire that hooks for this car period, especially tuned with 360 ft lbs of torque, don't even question me on this
Mad Hatter yeah they ain’t that good just a decent street tire. I got about the same mileage on mine. Definitely will not buy again. Rim protector is cool but the Michelin PSS is the tire to get. All around performance with better wear. F1’s ain’t cheap either.
Agreed, Goodyear Eagle F1 on my VW Touareg and wife’s Audi Q5 feathered. Goodyear blamed the car manufacturers or balancing. Ha.
Punched in F1 Eagle to look at one of the nicest F1 cars of the golden era and got Tyres! Goodyear should be sued for causing such confusion with their cheap rubbish.
Goodyear Eagle F1 on my VW Touareg and wife’s Audi Q5 feathered. Goodyear blamed the car manufacturers or balancing. Ha. Continental much better.
Great vid. Btw America it’s ‘TYRE’
I am looking at new tyres for my MK7 VW Golf R. I thought about Eagle F1 3’s, but have heard a few people saying the sidewalks are really soft and the handling becomes a little dull, like driving on marshmallows.... hoping it’s not that bad? 🤔
Did you already buy tires?
Gjeebs not yet but I was going to this week :/ cannot fully decide!
