Always a fantastic job, thank you. I think the case for all weather tyres in the UK is becoming more and more important. @@sheilamorrison1954I agree with you. In the south, other than a few days a year there is no point in having all seasons. I can't comment for the north and Scotland though.
I'm running Michelin Cross Climate 2 and, for me, this all season tyre works excellently. It never feels lacking in any department (albeit I have no way of testing braking distances etc), and is noticeably more comfortable and quiet than the tyres it replaced. Although I'm running them on a humble A3 TDi, they feel good enough that I think they would also be OK on something with more performance, like my previous Golf R. I would not argue with the two tyre set approach (I've done it in the past) but the UK has the weirdest of climates and a tyre that is decent at everything works better for me than a summer tyre in a heavy downpour, a winter tyre on a particularly mild day etc.
If you could guarantee several months of constant weather it would be sensible to go with two sets of tyres. As you say, in the UK when you can have 4 seasons in a day, it's just easier to go with the best compromise for every weather condition. Finally, a test that compare 4 season tire to summer tires. The difference is so small that most summer tires would probably perform worse than the Vector 4Seasons. It would be great to include the best 4 season tires (like Vredestein Quatrac, Goodyear Vector 4Seasons, Michelin CrossClimate) in all summer tire tests as I expect these to be better than most summer tires. For example, my experience is that the Vredestein Quatrac is cornering much better than the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 on a Golf MK4 1.8t (testing on dry tarmac in a hot summer day). It is so good that I will probably go to track days with the Quatrac.

Has the PZ4 been updated recently? I thought its last update was several years ago, and it isn't super competitive with current offerings, especially with longevity. Or are you asking within the context of a T0 spec tire for a Tesla?
I have them on my car, very good grip for street very agresive driving, still have not tested them in track. I can assure you they won't last, they have lost almost 10% of thread in 2000km. They do well on the wet, but haven't had any really heavy rain days. I don't know if they are the best option overall to be honest, but not a bad neither an unsafe choice.
I have daily driven 2 cars fitted with the F1A5 and they are excellent for the price. No need for Michelin PS4 unless you’re a brand snob. Itching to give the F1A6 a try!
Again 1st with testing a new tire, great job! You mentioned that the tread depth is lower, is there any data how much smaller are the grooves on the asymmetric 6?
WOW news travels slow to Australia! I had no idea Michelin were releasing a Pilot Sport 5. Great timing. Both my cars that have 4s now need new tyres. I will hold off until your video is released HAHA. Thanks Jonathan
And as you've demonstrated in other reviews, all season tyres are much better in cold wet braking and handling than summer tyres, not just better in the snow (which we rarely have here in SE England :p).
I have the GY5 on my car having ran PS4 previous.Definitely a step up in grip and fun in the wet.Not many occasions in last 12 months when it's been dry and been out driving hard enough miss the better dry grip of the PS4,indeed the fun factor was probably well worth the trade off particularly given how much cheaper they are.
I have to correct you on the db thing. 3 db more is not twice the sound pressure. Here is how it works, and you can probably see why there is the confusion about why people might think 3 db is twice the sound pressure. It takes twice the power to increase sound by 3 db i,e if 103 db takes 50 watts, an increase to 106 db takes 100 watts. That is however not the same as twice the SPL or twice as loud. In fact, it is not that much in terms of how the human ear perceives an increase in SPL. To double the sound pressure level, it takes 6 db. Again, that is not the same as what we hear as twice as loud. It means that the amplitude or physical energy in the sound waves are now doubled what they were. So 103 to 109 db for example is twice the SPL. Now as far as what we perceive as twice as loud psychoacoustically is quite different. It takes a whopping 10 db to increase volume so that we perceive it as twice as loud. When talking about going from 72 to 70 db, while there is a difference, it's actually not that big. What often makes a difference in terms of tyre noise, is where the frequency is. The Bridgestone Potenza S001 for the GTI is probably one of the worst shoes I've ever had the misfortune of trying. It has a lot of white noise in the 800 to 3000 hz range, right where we are very sensitive. Dreadful tyre from a noise perspective.
I got the assym 5's last year and was astonished on the wet braking and overall grip. To have improvement for the 6's will be grest and the fact they are generally a bit cheaper than the comparable PS4 & Continentials is great. A review is needed pronto to compare them to the new PS5.
I've got the vector 3 before, and car , a hatchback, drove like a dream. Now i got the asymetric 6 on a bigger car , and excited to see how they feel ❤️
Completing others here, ... how it compares to the PS5, CSC7 etc :D Can't wait for that review. In April I must buy and install the summer wheels :D (Type-R FK8 2021 - 18" 8.5J rims)
Goodyear vectors every day of the week. For the very slight drop off in performance during warm weather, I'd rather have these on and lap up the cold icy weather whilst being safe.
I have GY Asy 6 on my car. They are very soft, silent and sticky on the road. I haven’t tried them on the wet yet. Just like Conti Premium 6 about comfort but better on cornering. And also better than Conti Sport 5’s and Pirelli P7’s on noise and comfort. So happy so far…
I have goodyear assymetric 5, best tires I've ever put on my car, super grippy in wet and dry and longetivity is absurd, got 60 000 km done on mine and I drive like a maniac.
I'm a fan and super happy user of the Asymmetric 5s, now needing to buy new tires for a new car, I'm having mixed feelings about the 6... you can see from the thread design that they've increased the size of the blocks, which must be the cause for better dry handling and more aquaplaning. I honestly think 90% of the time a high performance tire will stand out as much safer than a medium tier tire, on the wet. In the dry the limit is so high that most users will not even get close to experiencing it. On a very wet, fast bend on an Italian highway, I think I might still want to have the 5s...
@@tyrereviews I have them on for two weeks now. They are a lot of fun on twisty country roads and surprisingly quiet during cruising (compared to Pirelli Cinturato p7). I Never thought the car would feel so much better just by great tyres alone. So thanks for the persuasive enthusiasm.

I see so many new tyres like Fulda Sport Control 2, Kumho Ecsta HS51, HS52, Nexen N Fera Sport. Any chance you'll be testing those anytime soon ? Those seem like good tyres for 100 bucks each. Thank you for your reviews! You're the only one we watch, respect and your opinion means a lot to us !!!
@@tyrereviews Thank you so much, sir! Last question, i'm torn between 2 tyres right now. I have 235/45/18 tyres. Continental Premium Contact 6 (550 euros) and Falken Azenis FK510 (for 470 euros) Which ones should i pick ? Thank you !
To put another thought on using AllSeasonTyres: I own some classics. Leightweight (compared to today's cars), much less power. Problem: modern tyres are built to suit modern needs with even in compacts 150+ hp and curb weights north of 1,5 tons. Far too stiff, far too harsh for a classic. AllSeasonTyres solve the problem. Inspiring confidence with humid conditions compared to "classic tyres", uneffected with colder temps and far better comfort especially in allowing the old springs to do their job. And GoodYears look quite good, too!
Hi Jonathan. Thank you for all the great videos you make and all the hard work you do. Could you please review the new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 when possible.......thank you!☺
@@tyrereviews yes I bought them after watching your review. I haven’t got driving the car much since they were fitted last week but I’m looking forward to seeing how good they are. Thanks.
Interesting would be to see a test of the most popular budget tyres. Let's be honest most people know, how important is to buy a good, expensive tyre, but end up buying a budget anyway.
Ahhh, I've been waiting for this video, I've been running Asym 5's since your recommendation, even after alot of PS4 recommendations. Time to track down some 6's for my M135i rears 😁
Thanks for this elaborate review. Like I mentionend in one of the comments in one of your previous tyre reviews, I'm an MX-5 RF owner and a huge fan of the GY EF1 AS5. Now I'm a bit unsure. Talking about the "right choice" when purchasing new tyres next season: The MX-5 is a very lightweight convertible. It is also EXTREMELY sensitive concerning wet grip/ aquaplaning, especially at lower temperatures in spring or fall. What would you recommend, should I stick with the AS5 or go for the AS6?
I'm getting the AS6's for my MX-5 ND2. Compared to the PS5 it seems to be a bit more responsive, sporty, cheaper and quieter, but sacrificing some lifetime and wet handling. I think it's worth it for the MX-5.
@@mx-5driver406 Congratulations. I'm curious about how they perform in general. In fact I'm still a bit worried about the AS6s "worse" wet handling, bc that's the MX5s real weakness.
End of March.. oof - I really want to see the big comparison with the new tires really bad. There's quite a good deal on Pilot Sport 5's where I live (25% off a whole set) which makes that tire just as expensive as the new Goodyears or Hankooks :)
Stellar job on making all these tests and comparisons! Have you ever considered testing the same summer/all season tyre model(s) but in two vastly different profiles? I.e., to directly compare the same model in high vs low profile. I've seen your performance summer tyre test in different wheel sizes, but all of them were still low profile tyres. I'm faced with deciding on the tyre set for my new car, which has a very high profile tyres (225/60 R18 vs 215/45 R17 on my previous car). I'd love to go with CrossClimate 2, but I'm worried that it will be too floaty feeling due to the height of the sidewall - wondering if it's something I'll notice.
Hello Jo’, great job as always! I was wondering if you could organize some kind of crash test for tires with different elements to determine their strength? Why I asking this? Because I bought the T005 since its release several times and sometimes it died for undetermined reasons. It is certainly a good tire but not the strongest. I think it's important for ordinary consumers, especially on a little budget, to have a solid tire to cope with sometimes degraded driving conditions (our taxes don't always go into road maintenance 😅!). Thanks again for your professional review, clearly a game changer on the UA-cam, your website is very informative too
Great video. Lower quality?! I did not catch that. Probbably I'm most focused on the content /top quality/. Did I missed the range when you finish the race or you did not include it in to see who is paying attention.
Correction. 3db SPL (sound pressure level) is NOT twice the sound pressure level. 10db SPL is twice the sound pressure level. You are getting your decibels confused. +3db is twice as much power, not sound pressure.
Well, given that I wanted the Asy 5s for my GT86 next, I guess I have a new choice. At least if it's available in the same sizes unlike Contis in their 5 to 6.
I live in southern Spain so it’s all about dry conditions in my Peugeot Rcz 235/45/18 I still couldn’t find for the dry which would be the best Uhp tyre.. I went however for the GY asymmetrical 6
I wonder how these compare to sport contact 6. Based on previous video continental might be the new king of the hill, as eagle 6* is more of an incremental improvement. *SC7
Interesting re the Vector in the wet. What was the temp? Have had Cross Climate (SUVs) on over winter and seem to 'come alive' in the wet as you keep being surprised by the grip levels.
So I had two passenger side blow outs 🤦🏾♂️ Can you recommend the tire with the best longitudinal grip regardless of manufacture? Want to run 245 square and wet is preferred. I'm considering DWS06+ and there's a Michelin tire I think the AS4. Had to go back to the 265 DWS06 staggered rears. A Nokian WRG4 front driver side and a BF Goodrich Comp 2 A/S. The Nokia WRG4 had over 50k miles and only the rear blew from hitting a sharp pot hole. The front had a bubble. The set did well going through winter and hitting pot holes through Baltimore. Would buy again.

Interested to hear feedback from people trying the Asymmetric 6 after having had the 5's. I've recently had a full set of Asymmetric 5's fitted to my Audi and while they handle well, the seemingly high rolling resistance is causing quite a drop in fuel economy. I've started raising the pressures incrementally which is helping but ideally I shouldn't go much higher.
I've had Pilot Sport 4, Nexen SU1 and Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S previous to these. I generally ran those at about 40-42psi which felt good and the car drove well. Since changing to Asymmetric 5 it seems like the car drags more and the fuel economy plummeted. Have increased to about 46psi up front and 44 in the rear which has brought it closer to previous, but I'm reluctant to go much higher than that. Alignment was checked during tyre fitting and all parameters were in the green.
Thank you for the review. Based on the given data given, the test result differences would be even closer if you we compare the GEF1A 5/6 with a set of CrossClimate 2. Nice.😉
Great Review thanks so much, as has been said can't wait to see the new GY up against the new Pilot Sport 5!!. With so many tires used in each of your tests, do you get your tires from the manufacturer or bought from the aftermarket? Thanks Tyre Reviews ...keep up the good work!
First of all hats off for your effort in testing. Every video is really great. Question: have you thought about doing these tests with (fully) loaded vehicles? I know, of course, that increases the effort. But you could pack at least 100 kg in the trunk and 70 kg each in the footwell. I would be interested to know whether the differences between the tires would remain the same, or whether one or the other tire can still bring out a little more reserve?
That's a nice idea, I'll speak to some people to see what's possible. I expect there might be some safety issues securing the load, you know what health and safety people are like!
@@tyrereviews haha I'm one of those safety guys. my opinion is, if you go, go with a bang 😂 go for it haha. You can do it quite safely if you take a Skippy ball place it onder the trunk cover where the spare wheel can be fit and fill it with water or sand.

I'm happy they didn't remove the sportiness!
Always ran asymmetrics on my old ST, they transformed that car!
Thanks for the great reviews and info. A comparison on fairly used but still legal vs brand new tyres of the same model would be great to see
I think below 3mm tread depth the performance drops off significantly
I have Asymmetric 5 all round, this will be good upgrade
Hope you can test the PZ4 soon !! Can't wait to watch your next comparison video !!! Superb video as always !!
@@waffle911 Well, I am asking within the context to compare to the other UHP tires like the SportContact6 / 7, or the Hankook Ventus S1 EVO Z ;)
@@pollrodri6254 Thanks so much for the feedback. I actually looking for the PZ4 to fit it to our Model 3 :=)

I have daily driven 2 cars fitted with the F1A5 and they are excellent for the price. No need for Michelin PS4 unless you’re a brand snob. Itching to give the F1A6 a try!
I'm excited for you to try it!
Again 1st with testing a new tire, great job! You mentioned that the tread depth is lower, is there any data how much smaller are the grooves on the asymmetric 6?
I don't have that information yet, I'll do tread measurements in the full test
WOW news travels slow to Australia! I had no idea Michelin were releasing a Pilot Sport 5. Great timing. Both my cars that have 4s now need new tyres. I will hold off until your video is released HAHA. Thanks Jonathan
For me in this review it was the all season tyres which came out on top
And as you've demonstrated in other reviews, all season tyres are much better in cold wet braking and handling than summer tyres, not just better in the snow (which we rarely have here in SE England :p).
I have the GY5 on my car having ran PS4 previous.Definitely a step up in grip and fun in the wet.Not many occasions in last 12 months when it's been dry and been out driving hard enough miss the better dry grip of the PS4,indeed the fun factor was probably well worth the trade off particularly given how much cheaper they are.
Great review again! The only channel on UA-cam that does tyre tests so methodologically👍💪
Next the pilot sport 5!!!!
Like em?
Can't wait for the comparison to be released. I assume you have done the testing already. Any estimate on the drop of the video?
Tomorrow!
I've got the vector 3 before, and car , a hatchback, drove like a dream. Now i got the asymetric 6 on a bigger car , and excited to see how they feel ❤️

Goodyear vectors every day of the week. For the very slight drop off in performance during warm weather, I'd rather have these on and lap up the cold icy weather whilst being safe.

I love your vids and am waiting for another one. Often eye opening.
The Goodyear vector all season looks a lot like the Mich CrossClimate 2 I bought on your recommendation. The CC2 is an excellent tyre.

Thanks for sharing! Gte a review on the site sometime :)
What do you mean by ‚very soft‘ ?
I have goodyear assymetric 5, best tires I've ever put on my car, super grippy in wet and dry and longetivity is absurd, got 60 000 km done on mine and I drive like a maniac.
@@Naughty_Squad seriously, I rotated them, but had to replace the rears at 60kkm mark. Fronts will do another 5k, really good tire.
Now this is what I'm talking about! Just in time for some new tyres for me!
I'll be doing aquaplaning in the full test in a few weeks!
@@tyrereviews looking forward, as usual!
The tread depth of the Asymmetric 6 is 6.9-7mm. I‘ve just bought and measured it. (225/45 R17)
Edit: measured in the middle

I see so many new tyres like Fulda Sport Control 2, Kumho Ecsta HS51, HS52, Nexen N Fera Sport. Any chance you'll be testing those anytime soon ? Those seem like good tyres for 100 bucks each. Thank you for your reviews! You're the only one we watch, respect and your opinion means a lot to us !!!
Sport Control 2 is very old, there's data on all those tyres on www.tyrereviews.com :) I won't be testing any of them this year sadly
@@tyrereviews Thank you so much, sir! Last question, i'm torn between 2 tyres right now. I have 235/45/18 tyres. Continental Premium Contact 6 (550 euros) and Falken Azenis FK510 (for 470 euros) Which ones should i pick ? Thank you !
@@alexest2665 Different tyres so it depends what you want, there's lots of data comparing the two
To put another thought on using AllSeasonTyres: I own some classics.
Will you be comparing the supersport vs the asym 6?
Hi Jonathan. Thank you for all the great videos you make and all the hard work you do. Could you please review the new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 when possible.......thank you!☺
The best summer tire you can buy for 17 inch rims is the Asymmetric 6 period. For winter tires is Vredestein or the Michelin Alpin.
I have just fitted four Asymmetric 5s. I can’t believe it.
Still great tyres!

Excellent content, keep it up!!
I'd go 6 if you can fit it
I'm getting the AS6's for my MX-5 ND2.
Tesla handling: with almost all weight at the same height of the wheel axles, pretty easy to get the car cornering flat.
Cornering inertia does not care about the center of gravity of electric appiances.
Also it's not that heavy by modern standards. It weighs roughly the same as a BMW M3.
@@rdmz135 To me a modern M3 is very heavy...

@@tyrereviews amazing review. Thanks!
It’s been 3 weeks super eager to see the test for F1A6 vs PS5
Tomorrow!
Thanks again for your professional review, clearly a game changer on the UA-cam, your website is very informative too
Firestone apparently has a new UHP compound in the Firehawk Indy 500. Any tests or reviews to see how it compares?
Great video. Lower quality?! I did not catch that. Probbably I'm most focused on the content /top quality/.
Did I missed the range when you finish the race or you did not include it in to see who is paying attention.
I put it as text on the screen as I did forget :)

Can you recommend the tire with the best longitudinal grip regardless of manufacture? Want to run 245 square and wet is preferred. I'm considering DWS06+ and there's a Michelin tire I think the AS4.
Had to go back to the 265 DWS06 staggered rears. A Nokian WRG4 front driver side and a BF Goodrich Comp 2 A/S.
The Nokia WRG4 had over 50k miles and only the rear blew from hitting a sharp pot hole. The front had a bubble. The set did well going through winter and hitting pot holes through Baltimore. Would buy again.

I think I'd like the A6's for the faster steering response over 5s, if I am not misunderstanding what you try to convey here.
Yep
Interested to hear feedback from people trying the Asymmetric 6 after having had the 5's. I've recently had a full set of Asymmetric 5's fitted to my Audi and while they handle well, the seemingly high rolling resistance is causing quite a drop in fuel economy. I've started raising the pressures incrementally which is helping but ideally I shouldn't go much higher.
What tyres were they before? The Asym 5 isn't known to be super high rolling resistance
Nice.😉
