It's always so fascinating to see how confident they become when speaking their native language. Especially Shuhua who struggles more with korean than Yuqi.
Ya! Ive noticed yuqi before but started liking her when she joined running man china. Her personality was very open and confident.....to the point where they call her didi (brother). I always love seeing chinese members doing stuff in china cuz they are more confident and are able to talk more since theres no language barriers.
I always thought it was cute how everyone takes care of their youngest member in different ways. Yuqi, obviously, with language. It makes you wonder if they talk to each other often like that, or try to avoid it as not to alienate the rest of the group.
They only use Chinese when the two are together without the other members. And even during VLive the made sure it's not complete Chinese, alternating between Chinese and Korean.

There’s some group with foreigner member and when they’re talking with their own language (not korea) their company (staff or manager) will be scolding them. Did that happen to idle’s foreigners member too? 🤔
Yea, Lisa was scolded whenever she would try and talk english. They did it so she would learn korean quicker. I imagine its the same with gi dle and every group with non-korean members.

But of course there's a basic rule for foreign k-pop members to talk in Korean in front of camera (unless they're doing shout-out to international audiences) because, for one thing, it's easier for the staff to understand them. E.g. How could the editting staff edit the video efficiently, if they don't understand Chinese? That being said, my personal opinion is that the foreign members should be allowed to speak in their native language in private. It would not really impact on their Korean language learning. I myself migrated to Australia from China many years ago. I always talk to my parents in Chinese, not just because they can't speak English, but because I want to speak Chinese sometimes. It helps with my mental health and homesickness. It also prevents me from FORGETTING how to speak Chinese. You can "lose" your native language very very fast, if you don't practise it often.
I have always find cute when IDOLS who are bilingual within can change from speaking fluent korean to their other language in seconds and still carry the conversation examples: Krystal and Amber, Amber and Victoria, Tiffany and Jessica, Jennie Lisa and Rosé, and in this Yuqi shuhua and minnie
One of them actually speaks Putonghua Yuqi🇨🇳 Shuhua Guoyu🇹🇼. Written text is different between the two one of them has to simplified characters the other one uses traditional Chinese characters which makes her easy to understand Hong Konger and Macanese idols.
Finally languages I understand. I understand English, mandarin, Cantonese, and hakka. I learnt all of these languages subconsciously growing up with a mum that speaks all of these languages. Still waiting for kdramas and anime to teach me Korean and Japanese 😂

Many of Chinese so-called dialects are actually mutually unintelligible, although speakers of all of its varieties consider it as a single language, part of due to the sense of unity and nationalism. The idea of Chinese consisting of languages, and not dialects, are still not universally agreed on, but increasingly suggested in linguistics. And it should be noted that the mutual intelligibilty between them is comparable to those of Romance languages. So, it's not really wrong. I usually avoid using the term 'Chinese dialects/languages' and refer to them as Chinese varieties, instead.

I'm still trying to get to know them and I have a question, is their Chinese the same? I know that Shuhua is from Taiwan but I don't know if they can fully understand each other when speaking Chinese? I'm not quite sure if chinese spoken at Taiwan is the same as the one spoken at China

Like it but when it comes to writing Mandarin Shuhua is from Taiwan and she uses traditional Chinese characters which is intelligible to Hong Kongers that are in Kpop Loona Vivi Got7 Jackson & NCT Lucas. Mandarin Simplified Characters is used by Yuqi since she's from Beijing
