I'll put it like this, The image you used here for your thumbnail of the main og 7 working Together Against this evil Got me interested because they never really do anything together anymore.
Keeping the spoilers to a minimum, It ends up literally being a plot point that martian manhunter gets captured early on and thus is not involved in the story.

Absolute power was a convoluted boring event.
Just like all events.
And it's impossible to avoid them.
Whatever regular comic i'm reading will be interrupted with an event.... And if I don't read the event.I won't understand the comic that i'm already reading.
If absolute batman was an elseworld black label series I would be buying it and reading it. Because the non canonical comics don't ever have events.
They are self contained comics. I'm reading batman off world...... And everything I need to know to understand the series is in the series.
To understand a main title comic that you're reading you will have to read the event as well. And in order to understand the event you will have to know what has taken place in comics that you have not been reading.
I'll go yell at the clouds now
