Thomas and Dennis you guys can talk for hours and tell stories about cars it's the greatest stories in the world you two guys respect each other he's been working each other like Dennis said 30 years
@@timkinley1779 Yeah, they're barely stereo at best...most of the sound is on one side...I think whoever is shooting isn't paying attention to how their audio inputs are configured.
Would like to see the continued conversations between Thomas and Dennis away from all that road noise. Keep us posted about the restoration of the Healy V8 regardless if it’s a Shelby conversion
There was a girl I went to school with that lived right down the street from me in St Louis and her father used to restore Austin Healey's in their garage one particular afternoon while we were walking home her dad was out working on one of these cars and had it outside running I knew the minute I heard it run and him revving it up that it did not have a traditional Healey engine in it, so I walked across the street and was talking to him about it and he said that it was a Ford small block V8 289 and that it had a top loader four speed and a Ford 9-in rear end in it he said that it was one of Carol Shelby's experiments... I don't know much about Austin healys but I know they didn't come with Ford V8s and he told me at that time that this was one of the predecessors to the cobra Carol Shelby was looking for small lightweight cars hence the AC austin-healeys and I think sunbeams.. don't quote me on that but I know he experimented with several cars in that genre...the only one I've ever seen other than this one that had a V8 in it and that was 40 years ago.. I was just a kid in junior high school walking home.. pretty cool..
Woah your story reminds me of what brought me to this video. The teenage girl who lived 4 houses west of me who was my friend came running down the street to my house and said “Dave I got the Healey!” No shit scared the hell out of me I didn’t know what the heck she was talking about, thought it was a disease. Turns out when she took me down to her house there was a Austin Healey in the garage that her father had bought and was going to restore with her. Looked like this one in the video but the engine was a factory one. Been a long time but I think it was a straight 6 with 3 small carburetors on top. Many a straight 4 with 2 carbs 40 years I’m not sure. But that’s why When I seen the title of this video I had to check it out. BTW I think she sold it before her dad and her restored it. That’s so weird that you posted your story I was thinking you were a neighbor of mine in Phoenix 👍🇺🇸
Agree...somebody decided a long time ago to inject completely fabricated time deadlines into these car shows (F&L) to create conflict/tension...definitely not needed when the info is good.
Completely agree ... no loud and slow to brag about how cheap he got it and how much he did something stupid to it for then sold it for 10 times that ....
I really enjoyed this episode. I was a fan of Misfit Garage and have the impression that Thomas Weeks is a good person. To watch you guys talk cars was very cool.
Two guys who love and respect each other ! Dennis , without doubt this is the very best coffee walk ever ! The knowledge you both have is immense and l'm sure some of your tales will remain under lock and key! But it would be terrific if you could regail tales occasionally. Thankyou so much , and pass on my grateful thanks to Thomas.
If you include Thomas Weeks in that interview then 30 minutes isn’t near enough time, that’s just getting Thomas warmed up! I love the guy for his experience, knowledge, and passion but lord that guy can talk!! He was born with a cell phone growing out of his hand!
Always thought Tom was an interesting guy that was held wayyyyyy back on the big screen . Glad to see the real truth coming out . Good to see him on here Dennis , good call on that one , I think coffee walk just got a little bit bigger !
David Dowling: You see the fat check Dennis handed him?....old friends doing business....nothing wrong with friends that like to exchange knowledge and be around each other when the pace of life sometimes gives you a bit of time here and there.
I guess I’m the first one to write up your latest video. Your diving into the newspapers early in the morning was something my ace pal Brian and I did back in the late 1950’s. We would go to the local liquor store and buy the Sunday Los Angeles Times. This would be late afternoon on a Friday and we would get the “Bull Dog Edition” that’s what it was was called. Here we would find the Sunday car ads and begin tearing through them. Brian picked up a 1940 Deluxe Coupe for $195.00 one weekend. I bought a “newer” 1953 Chevy for $400.00. We thought we were slick. The Times eventually jacked up their ad rates so high they brought about the Recycler, Auto Trader and now we have eBay and Craigslist. Great story thank you, brought back fun memories with car buddy.
For the love of Pete why did you tape this by the side of a busy road instead of side or back. Details are amazing and very interesting but so frustrating hearings the cars in background.
These guys should know better than to use a camera in an unacceptable location - the whole purpose is the audience tuning-in to watch and listen - rookie mistake.
This has been the BEST EVER coffee show you did! Loved the passion, transparency and deep knowledge. Kudos @dennis Collins ! Forget about the noise. Who cares? I ran 3 times the video not to lose any detail. I have a BJ8 and a 100-4 SN2. If you need any support in restoring this beauty to original condition, count with me!! (Not kidding at all) regards from Riverside, CT
So great to see Thomas , it’s like seeing an old friend you haven’t seen in years . He’s an absolute legend it would be great to see him more often . Thanks Dennis 👍
Nice to hear the history and friendship between you two without "reality" television involved. These you tube shows(all)are better than Discovery's spin factory
Dennis I hope you read these comments because I'm very intrigued at what you find out about this car. I know nothing about these cars but the story is great. Please keep us all posted up on this one. Thanks and be safe !!
While I'm not a car guy in the sense of hunting, buying and selling, I've spent a lot of time around guys that do this. You two are the epitome of two guys that live to hunt for the next deal. Super entertaining.
Great video ! Back in the early 60's when I was just 16, I helped my neighbor restore a home modified Healy 3000 that had a 289 V8 in it. We'd run around in it until the carb linkage would jam up. Never did work right but man was that a fast car. He ended up selling to someone in Waukesha Wisconsin one day and that's the last I ever saw of it. It was after that I heard all about Shelby's workings that wondered what ever happened to that car. Thanks for the detailed video...brought back some really old memories. This answer will come up with my wife's name...mine is Carl
This is probably my favorite coffee walk video so far. The conversation between 2 successful car guys was great and an extremely interesting car. I would love to follow the build on this.
Having the hard top on a BN4 makes it pretty rare as it is. If it is an authentic Shelby modified Healey then once it's restored will does qualify as a holy grail car. Look forward to seeing what happens to this in future coffee walks.
I remember sitting there at the kitchen table hitting redial hundreds if not thousands of times because other folks were already talking to them about the “prize” or their teenage daughter was talking to her boyfriend for hours on end after school which was normally the case cause up till 3pm it would just ring and ring and ring which usually meant they were at work. I remember chasing a few nice ones for a few weeks up to a month on a couple of those cars before I would finally get someone to answer the phone and let you know if it had been sold yet or if I could go look at it. It definitely used to be a struggle trying to get around to look at em back then and when you finally got in touch with them and made the appointment to go look at the car and it felt like you were finally able to see that hot young girl you’ve been chasing for the past two years in her swimsuit!!! It was an amazing feeling and if you were able to buy it, then it felt like you just went from striking out to hitting a grand slam!!!! Definitely some fond memories but it’s so much easier nowadays!!
I just realized for myself as a 75 year old. Back in the day, 50 plus years ago that chased and hunted cars and parts, Mr. Collins just too the fun dream to a much higher level than any of us viewers could or had. The collaboration between you two is wonderfully enjoyable and informative.
Thomas " when your filming a show , your kinda in jail" This is so much more enjoyable that any show. Please keep it coming. Love the knowledge from both of you guys.
This is how real cars guys meet. Along the road or Gas Station or a drive up Restaurant. Or at Buddy's house. It's nice to see Thomas again. I guess the show is over now. These guys have alot of history together. Not sure how Richard fits in. Without Aaron. Richard is toast! Dennis your the Man. Keep us informed on the Healey updates. Shawn
I don't know why people act like Aaron wasn't the biggest douche on the show, which he was...and without Rawlings you wouldn't even know who Aaron was...and to your point, Richard is doing just fine without him
You guys should do a pod cast. Bring in guests, get some of the old stories out there. So many young people today think every successful person started out with money. When in fact most started with nothing and built what they have today. Your stories and people like you could make the difference with someone that just needs a confidence boost. Small business makes this country work. 👍
I also bought most of my vehicles out of the newspaper back in 79 till around 93-4. That was fun and bought some great one-owner cars with the history. Use to pay with sight drafts on all of them and drive away with the car 99% of the time. Then I was dealing with 2 large banks on their repos from the mid-'80s till 2015. This took up most of my time where I could not buy out of the paper any longer. Miss those days.
Great Video, good to see Thomas again! Little tid bit, they came out with the 283' in 1957, but it was just a bored out 265' had trouble with over heating and water jacket problems. In 1958 they actually casted a 283' block, and rest is history.
Once again Dennis Collins shows what kind of guy he is. I love how when he agrees to a price he doesn't try to get it for a cheaper price later. Thomas it's great to see you as well. I love to buy and sell cars as well, I'm not on the level that you guys are. I enjoy being around it in any capacity.
It was great to see Thomas and the Heeley. Hopefully we’ll see more of him soon and some more great cars too. Great lesson on Shelby cars. Thanks Dennis.
Please do a coffee walk soon about: Austin's, Jags, Mustangs, muscle cars etc. It is your inherent knowledge and real world experiences that keep us "car guys" interested in this hobby, business and trade. Inspiration is so vital to enthusiasts; most folks look at nasty old cars like we do, and never see the possibilities.
Austin/ Morris diff centres. Ratios from 3.55-6.5. Alloy bolt in centre with fairly big gears. Housings [of many widths] use a single row bearing with floating hubs. With a big nut to keep it adjusted, 1 1/4" 10 spline axles. Here in Oz they were extensively used in speedway applications and many ran with 500 + hp. 60s to 90s and still widely used in classics They were OEM to Austin A90 A95 A105, Big Healeys, Morris Isis, Morris J Van among others. Most of which never saw the market in the US. The wire wheel Healeys used a bolt on Spline adapter, bin that and go to a one piece wheel. Far lighter and far stronger. Ditto with Jags, MGs and Midgets. The bad,,, the pinion shaft is only 1" and can on occasionally break. I have broken 2 over the decades. The big hub nut is a pain in the arse in speedway at least as they come loose regularly, especially right side. A 12-15" wide wheel causes that. The axles break inside the 'hat' on the end. Once again more so in speedway though I know of it happening on the street and drag racing as well.
Hearing the hustle from the past really makes me have a new found respect for Dennis ,,, I really think you just tapped into something that’s Content Gold, show people where you came from , where you been, and what it took to get you there ,,, Awesome
You guys should maybe a top 25 of the rarest cars you have either bought or turned the other one on to . That would be you tube gold .love how you guys show each respect. Great job on this one even with the road noise .lol
Healey, the best British sports cars I've ever owned. Over the years I've had three. Two 100-6's and a 100-4 with a crash box. For some reason it was a 4 speed but first gear had been locked out so you couldn't use it. I would love to have a restored 100-4 at any cost now. They sure were great cars.
Great video Dennis us Brits want our Healeys back please 🤣. What a bonus to see Thomas again as well as he is one of life's real characters. As someone has already said do a video of you and him chatting about back in the day. We'd all love it . Stay safe out there.
So cool listening to y’all talk about your friendship and history together. Two of the best guys in the business right there! Be an honor to meet y’all one day for sure.
GREAT VIDEO DENNIS!!!! I ENJOY LEARNING ABOUT CAROLL SHELBY!!! I HAVE HEARD ABOUT THE AUSTIN HEALY CARS. BUT I NEVER GOT THE FULL STORY. THANK YOU SO MUCH. TOTALLY AWSOME EDUCATION!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING.
Love your videos, my buddy in High School back in 1960s had a 1958 Austin Healy it was a lot fun to drive but man was it hard to keep the carbs balance. Wish you had done this video where you didn't have all of the traffic noise.
I like how these guys find all these awesome rides in a barn/garage that been sittin for years. Every time I look for something like that it’s usually a dodge neon or a Chevy cavalier that’s not worth it’s weight in scrap.
Thomas and Dennis you guys can talk for hours and tell stories about cars it's the greatest stories in the world you two guys respect each other he's been working each other like Dennis said 30 years
I would love to hear more of the Thomas and Dennis stories, but not next to a roaring highway!
Great story about the Healey
yeahh road noise got annoying real quick
Dennis really needs to address the consistent audio quality in the videos. These are way to informative for the crappy sound quality.
@@timkinley1779 Yeah, they're barely stereo at best...most of the sound is on one side...I think whoever is shooting isn't paying attention to how their audio inputs are configured.

I doubt Shelby did any Healy cars.
You can’t help but like Thomas 👍
This was one of my favorite coffee talks ever. Nicely done.
Great episode and great stories of the past. The struggle was real back in the day to get the good stuff just thru print ads.

Let us know if it is the real deal and built by Carroll Shelby..
Thomas " when your filming a show , your kinda in jail"
This is so much more enjoyable that any show. Please keep it coming. Love the knowledge from both of you guys.
Glad to see that you are both genuine car enthusiasts.
Two people that have respect for each other and know about cars for years 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼perfect combination
This made my day, I’d love to see more Thomas and Dennis stories
Love the two old pro's talking about the hay days of wheelin and dealin
This is how real cars guys meet. Along the road or Gas Station or a drive up Restaurant. Or at Buddy's house. It's nice to see Thomas again.

Good to see old Thomas still kicking. Miss Fired Up Garage.
These guys are the holy grail of car enthusiasts. Thank you for sharing your life experiences and knowledge!
Great to see Thomas again, have missed his stories and chat from Misfits Garage.
I could listen to car stories all day with you guys!
I’d rather listen to you two than ‘old slick’ 😂
Deserves a Thomas and Dennis video on their own ....old skool car trading !
I was randomly wondering the other Day what happen to Thomas, Glad to see all is well with him
He has his own channel now...hot rod school 😉
So I'm guessing that comment about filming shows means no more misfits garage. That sucks I really liked there show
Holy grail, one of one, best in the world, 💯
You guys should do a pod cast. Bring in guests, get some of the old stories out there. So many young people today think every successful person started out with money. When in fact most started with nothing and built what they have today. Your stories and people like you could make the difference with someone that just needs a confidence boost. Small business makes this country work. 👍
I'm sure it will all work out, a lot of good clues there.
It was great seeing Thomas in this light. Very nice guy.
I believe a show with Thomas and Dennis would be awsome. True automotive geniuses. Kudos!
Wow! I love Austin-Healey, Dennis thanks for sharing, I'll be looking for more stories and coffee.
Really like that old fella. Great listening to their banter.
You can't help but love Thomas Weeks....
I would love to watch you two sit down with some beers and just talk all your cars that you bought together!!!
This video got out of the radar I didn’t even know I had it you are the most knowledgeable person I’ve ever seen on cars
Great story and learning the history of the car.
So much better without Rawlings involved
Props Dennis for having the ability and understanding to bring these pieces of history back
It was great to see Thomas and the Heeley. Hopefully we’ll see more of him soon and some more great cars too. Great lesson on Shelby cars. Thanks Dennis.

Dennis' and Thomas' tales - that's the Christmas episode of Coffee Walk sorted!!
Thomas weeks. Great engine builder. Great friend. I miss hanging with you Tom. Since Steve died I haven't seen you. Your friend. JT.
My dad still has a 1963 Austin Healey 3000... with. V8 in it! Amazing car!
En Mexico te vemos mucho y te pedimos traduzcas al español todos tus comentarios, gracias Denis.
Awesome story. Glad to see Tom again.
Dennis, you are all about cars!! I love it.
Hahaha! ole 'Heads on the Ground!' haven't seen him for years on TV. Can he spin a yarn! Love it!
For a minute I thought Richard Rawlings was going to show his head 😂great video guys 👍🏼
Am sure I heard Leroy , Ruby and the Dale Truck amongst the traffic noise : )
I've always had the feeling that Dennis could buy & sell Richard.

Cool conversation between 2 car guys with no bs added 👌👌
Next coffee walk you two shooting the breeze!!!
Yup, we're the ShowMeState😊👍
Great find & video...
Love find out about lost cars and seeing old faces telling stories 👍

And he's being " nice" lol

Great video Dennis us Brits want our Healeys back please 🤣. What a bonus to see Thomas again as well as he is one of life's real characters. As someone has already said do a video of you and him chatting about back in the day. We'd all love it . Stay safe out there.
What a GREAT episode.. Completely enjoyed it!
So cool listening to y’all talk about your friendship and history together. Two of the best guys in the business right there! Be an honor to meet y’all one day for sure.
I have owned a 57 100-6 steel wheeled V8 Healey for 30 years. I never knew Shelby built three before the Cobra! Feeling puffy!
Kaaaaa ching
That's cool with history you and Thomas have. Outstanding!!
I always liked Thomas. I wish he was able to continue his TV show. I really liked it
It’s nice to see these two together. From the show I got the impression Dennis looked down on Thomas.
Ole Thom! I like that dude. Crazy car.
I love Thomas weeks and misfits garage. Miss that show!
GREAT VIDEO DENNIS!!!! I ENJOY LEARNING ABOUT CAROLL SHELBY!!! I HAVE HEARD ABOUT THE AUSTIN HEALY CARS. BUT I NEVER GOT THE FULL STORY. THANK YOU SO MUCH. TOTALLY AWSOME EDUCATION!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING.
I would like to see this project completed whether a Shelby or not.
The knowledge between them is amazing.
Thomas next time park at the rear of the building!
Loved hearing the knowledge from both of you.
Damn awesome episode!! More Thomas and Dennis. That was fun
Love your videos, my buddy in High School back in 1960s had a 1958 Austin Healy it was a lot fun to drive but man was it hard to keep the carbs balance. Wish you had done this video where you didn't have all of the traffic noise.
Wow, I have one also. 1959 with a small block 400, Got it in Long Beach, Ca.
Good luck Dennis! I hope that is a rare one because it is in the right hands now to be brought back from the dead.
I like how these guys find all these awesome rides in a barn/garage that been sittin for years. Every time I look for something like that it’s usually a dodge neon or a Chevy cavalier that’s not worth it’s weight in scrap.
