I love how confident you two are now! When I started watching Aaron was mostly silent, no fart discussions 😂, no grabbing benches and moving about. It feels like we're all best friends now. I have learned so much from your show. My son and I have spent so much time this spring putting in trees and shrubs at our newly built house because we watch you together. He is autistic and just loves watching "flowers" as he calls your show. We moved in to a blank space this Feb and we both have so many ideas to thank you for. It's fun to have inspiration for our shared hobby.
Definitely on Aaron's side with this one, his idea makes more sense. It's his garden space too! It's like it's her way or no way and I don't like that! And her attachment to stuff is ridiculous, she's stubborn and doesn't take advice well! I just wish for Aaron to man up and be more definitive in his opinion and say "this is how it's going to be, your attachment to these things is hindering your foresight as to the vision of this garden". If Aaron was allowed to map out the garden space in a more cohesive planned out space, it would alleviate her planting things and digging them up because a season later she notices how that plant doesn't have enough space to grow or the plant doesn't feel or look right in that particular spot she first planted it. It will save them a lot of money, time & enough if Aaron was allowed to create a design for the entire property as opposed to her just willy-nilly planting stuff or creating a space and then changing it the next season!
There’s no denying that a lot of team effort and cooperation is needed to make this UA-cam channel work, but Laura is the main reason for Garden Answer’s great success!!! 😊
A black bench under the window so you can set to take your shoes off or put them on. With a basket of flowers and a pretty throw or small quilt. Everything 😊is beautiful.
Perfect idea! Especially since the bottom of that window is higher than the others it leaves room for something like that. And it's practical as well as pretty. I agree that it is the best idea yet for that little area. 👍
Sorry Laura, I’m on team Aaron for the boxwood idea near the Hartley. I think that matching the other side and widening the path makes lots of sense. It’s just amazing how much progress has happened over such a short time. Love it!
I like Aaron’s idea of symmetry around the patio. And I like your idea Laura of the large basin with a short water spurt in the space you’ve left. In fact I was thinking along those lines when you mentioned it and I said yes, do it.
I love how casual this garden tour was! It’s nice to be included on the conversation of deciding what to do with different areas and to hear out Aaron’s ideas! Definitely love the idea of several benches tucked in the openings in the west side garden!

Usually team Laura…but Aaron’s idea is spot on! Benches should not just be beautiful, but have function as well. They look like they are an afterthought in the soil like that .
Since it doesn't seem like you sit on those benches often, but I agree with Laura, some kind of hard architecture needs to be there, what about iron statuary? Maybe something you custom-order that tells a story? Or a 4-part series of flower sculptures, or how about concrete or stone benches custom-made with your children's handprints or footprints inlaid on top? Made to look like they stepped on top, frozen at that age, in a moment of time? Could become an heirloom in time, something to pass down to them when they move into their first home.
I am betting your neighbors are just as happy with your addition of trees along the border as you are. They are getting a beautiful backdrop to their property without costing them anything. It is a Win-Win for everyone.
Aaron trying to change Laura's mind on the benches. We now have something to look forward to, how will this episode end? Will Laura convince Aaron to sit on the bench as is, or will Aaron convince Laura the view is better in the other direction. I love watching you two trying to work out how your garden will progress. Never tire of taking a walk in your gardens.😍
Laura, I don't know if you'll ever see this, but your audience fan club will relate. I've been with you guys since the very beginning. Your tours are like spending time with best friends, just so much fun! From you and your mom trying things on at the antique stores, bumping your head on branches and birdfeeders, looking at us so offended by them, How dare they! Stepping and tripping over cats, to you and Aaron's discussions over boxwoods and benches, to farts in the wind. Moving the boxwood closer to the tree might put them in too many roots and compacted soil thus needing more water, etc.)
She says..."I am not closed to that at all!" As she moves the rocking bench back. LOL I love watching you too, it just brings me to chuckles. I love the black metal bench(s) in those open spaces on the West side walkway! Four would be perfect!
I agree with letting the grass come over to the other side of the walk way. A quiet space for you eyes will allow the Hartley to shine in all its glory.

Laura, I really want to agree with you regarding the boxwood hedge because I understand your vision and the feelings that go with that vision; however, I agree with Aaron on this one. He nailed it when he described the disappointment when you look at something someone has created and think “they were so close!” I have allowed sentiment to cloud my judgement but when I finally relented, I had no regrets. As you say, if you don’t like something, you can always move it. Try it Aaron’s way and if you don’t like it, change it back! Love the inspiration you give me to get outside in the dirt and I love the way you two “keep it real” in your interactions with each other.
I absolutely love these tours, and I hope you never get tired of walking around your garden and explaining all of the same plants over and over again because honestly it’s like watching a brand new tour each time. these are one of my favorite videos. 😊
I’m team Aaron on the boxwood and bench move. Also love that they left in that whole conversation - very much the convos I have in the garden with my husband.
I agree with Aaron on the boxwood alignment at the brick patio. I think it would be worth it to take care it now, so you don't regret it in the future. I also would suggest moving the brick walkway that runs from the brick patio to the house to run straight towards the house. Mainly for the symmetry and formality of it. If you are going to be taking out the locust tree it would be a good time to make the changes you need to for the space so that it can start to reestablish.
I'm with Aaron on the rocking chair benches being on the patio...sorry Laura. The area with your large outdoor dining table (& with the large spruce) is just gorgeous ...what a beautiful space!
RE : Brick Patio Area I Fully Agree With Aaron's Idea Regarding The Boxwoods And Relocating The Two Black Metal Rockers. More Importantly, Standing His Ground. Just Keep In Mind, When You Throw Dirt, You Lose Ground. Good Luck !
Laura.....I Love, love your choice of Colors @49:57 in that area! >> Purples / Blue / Pinks and W h i t e ! Hope you can add more White. It's so fresh, clean, pure and matches everything. White....is so elegant and.....Glows in the evening and in the shade.
I love Aaron’s idea of moving the rocking benches on the bricks and moving out the boxwood hedge walkway and then mirror on the other side. Nice idea!!
I vote for you to bring the grass up to the walkway and have it spill over to the other side. I love grass, it has such a calming effect and it’s easy on the eye. Besides, you have so much other open space that needs to be filled with plants. 😊
I’m with Aaron on the boxwood hedge and benches on the brick patio; it would look more uniform. Your garden has come so far and is so beautiful. You’ve been a real inspiration for my own city size small garden!
I’d love to have Aaron and Laura as our neighbors. Imagine the beauty looking from their yards! It’d definitely give a person the motivation to get outside and work on their own garden! 🪴
A gazebo would look so nice in that space in the South Garden… providing a respite from the sun when you’re out there working, listening to the pondless waterfall… so peaceful! ❤
My vote is to bring a swath of the grass across that paved walkway between the house and hartley the way you described it. Resting place for eyes is a good idea and Aaron is so good at keeping the grass looking nice. But of course whatever you do will be just marvelous!
Agree that the kitchen window needs something...window box, bench or raised planter under it. I also agree with Aaron on the boxwood/walkway/bench idea. And a low basin fountain would look great in that open area.
@@Sisteryoda1440 Douglas has taken over their entire property. He is a bully....and needs to go to a new home to be the ONLY cat. He would like that too!
I agree with Aaron on the boxwoods flanking the walkway to the fireplace area. A wider opening would be better. But your little disagreement was so cute!
A water fountain-A round decorative base with a round bubbling sphere in the middle. Low enough, yet you get the sound, but not too loud. Maybe 2 or 3 disk lights (could be color changing)at the bottom or on the inside of the fountain.
Laura that Wyman crabapple is gorgeous! Sadly I agree with Aaron, if it’s got fire blight get it gone. You can always plant another or you can look for a species resistant to fire blight. It would be a shame to plant up a bed with shade loving perennials just to lose the tree to blight. If the top is dying out that isn’t the most encouraging sign that it will stick around either. Getting rid of diseased and damaged trees is never a bad thing. I view it as preventative measures in regards to safety as well as the spread of disease.
I agree that the window by the kitchen door needs something. A window box would be perfect, but I totally get not wanting to put it on the freshly painted house. Maybe a wrought iron plant stand that is narrow and long shaped like a window box? It would tie in nicely with the trellis around the corner. I especially like the look of a "window box" style stand with terra cotta pots.
I think it might be fun to develop a poll for your subscribers to see which way they would like to see the brick patio area--your way, Laura, of leaving benches as it and just continuing the walkway to other side as is OR Aaron's way where the benches are set ON the patio and then the hedge is moved over slightly to mirror the other side. I really like your designs Laura, but I have to agree with Aaron on this concept of moving benches to make the patio cozier and then having a hedge mirror other side for symmetry. I loved watching you all debate the issue :) Can't wait to see what you all decide. Also, I do agree that one window box under the window would look better...maybe an herb box since it's right outside the kitchen? Thanks so much for the tour!!!
The “mystery smell” reminds me of the time when Laura and Aaron were filming and they found a dirty diaper on the front porch …the look they gave to the camera as they started blaming each other for it was priceless! Lol I still think of that day and crack up over it every time Laura films a Garden Tour😂
Everything looks so good!! Two things though: 1. Not everything in a garden has to be matchy matchy....for what it's worth, the hedge by the fireplace it sooo good. Please keep Both sides! I loved your idea Laura. Sorry Aaron. 2. I also think a basin, oversized bowl type fountain with just a bubbler type center, would be awesome. You could still see over it, the sound of the bubbler would be so pleasing. Really enjoyed the tour. You are so far ahead of those of us in Vermont - what seems like another world away. Haha. Can't wait to see the playground!!!!!!
When Laura described a fountain for the area outside the Hartley, I pictured a stone fountain. Something to possibly consider. Thanks for brightening my day.
I don’t think you’ll ever regret putting in a kitchen garden. My herb garden has become my favorite garden. It’s so nice to just snip a bit of what I want right outside the door. As I’ve gotten older I’ve put in a lot of sempervivum and violas for ground cover. Lemon balm is one of my favorites. It’s a great addition to a salad. I really think it will give you a lot of joy. Green onions will just keep growing after you snip them. So many possibilities. 🥰
I can probably say 95% of us make it to the end of your videos because we love them that much. Especially the tours. Everything is looking so good and the transition is just beautiful in some areas. Well done!!
Just finished this video! I've been watching every morning that I had time after your current videos posted. I only watch Monday through Friday and sometimes Saturday before work as part of my routine! It was nice to have a little more to watch when I needed it😊
Hi there! A suggestion: instead of a kitchen window box, create a window table! In essence, you would be creating a shelf. The width of the window. You could use some pretty corbels under the table and put an array of beautiful smallish pots on the table. I saw a pic of it in a magazine at one point, and made one for my own kitchen window. I love it! Again, just a suggestion. I love your channel, and have watched for ages!
I agree, a black window box would be beautiful! I think it would bring you lots of smiles as you work in your beautiful kitchen. I do, however, understand not having to water and clean another area. Whatever you do, it will be perfect! Spring brings such beautiful color, but Fall gives us just as much beauty.
Have you considered a dancing water element instead of a formal fountain which holds water? Get some ideas from Las Vegas hotels. Aaron is fabulous at his video filming. No bouncing, slow turning, great close-ups, and panoramic views. Don't forget that the longer that you delay removing dead or dying trees, the longer it will take for new trees to begin getting good height for your family to begin enjoying. Paint the metal rocking benches a prettier color and add some pretty cushions upon which to sit. Has Aaron thought about creating movies? Where are the hanging containers that lined one of the fence lines? Has Aaron made any elderberry wine yet? By the way Law-rah, your flora encyclopedic memory is doing great! No project is too big for this young couple and their children! Savannah urns placed in the areas on each side of your brick pathway entrance to the new entry way to the house? Fantastic and fun tour! Giving all of us ideas for our own yards and gardens!
I agree with Aaron on the boxwood idea around the patio by the Hartley. I also agree with the rocking bench idea and having it on a brick surface would protect the metal rockers for longer.
Was that you! No!!! Was it you! 🤣🤣 So good to see you two laughing together- natural not staged. Your garden is looking sooo good- Laura at her finest sharing her designs as we tour - so inspiring. Love you two and your garden.
I needed an hour and a half of Laura and Aaron. Beautiful. Douglas was a kick today He laid down by your feet and flipped onto his back and then you accidentally stepped on him. Then for a full hour he followed you everywhere but at a distant as if, “man gotta watch her today-she’s definitely not watching where she’s putting those feet”. Then you knelt down for something and ‘bam’ he flew over there and got right beside you. The minute you stood up, he was off. I’d say he learns pretty quickly.
I agree with Aaron about the benches. They are gorgeous but they kind of block the space rather than enhance by my eye 🤷♀️ Looks like that area is still in brainstorm stage 🙂 Laura always has wonderful ideas so her final design will be just right 👌
Oh Aaron !! You have your work cut out for you !!! Agreed, the benches need to be moved to the patio and continue with the boxwood format. And yes ! Benches on the west side !
Consider: There are several gorgeous focal points inside the new bricked patio area. So, feels like the brick patio "room" is fighting with the Hartley "room." You could create a transition(a wood arbor) across over the rocking bench area. It would serve 2 purposes- an arbor over the new 2xhedgerow "walkway" would make it cozy and separate from the patio. The arbor would follow the hedgerow path across the top of the steps towards the chicken coop. Yes, the new Arbor will cut across the view to the Hartley from the seated area by the fountain but you'll still see the beautiful roof, and it will keep the Hartley from distracting the viewer from all of the beauty within the brick patio. Plus the arbor height will balance the height of the tree over the seating area and make it more of a room. This will free your mind's eye to consider a fountain size and scale for that space, not based on the Hartley view. Do continue the 2xhedgerow on the coop side like you suggested, curving back along the old pallet walkway, flanking it with one or two curving hedges mirrored like the fireplace side. Reposition the rocking benches by the red barn where parents can rest near the play area? (reposition them into shade where they aren't too hot to sit on). Perhaps get a white wisteria, to match the Hartley, training it over the new arbor, toward the fireplace area! (imagine looking through wisteria to peek at the Hartley!). The arbor will make the hedgerow walkway more intimate and less obvious, create shade, and will compliment both "rooms."❤
My goodness. You should be a writer. I completely envisioned what you wrote here. That would be stunning. The wisteria idea, perfect perfect perfect. Wow. I seen everything you were talking about. That's never happened to me before. I'm just not an envisioning person. But I saw it all. Thank you. I'm stunned actually. Have a beautiful day. 💜🪴🪴☕☕☕☕
In the brick patio area I would love to see a flat water feature in the center circle. A big piece of granite with 2” holes and a program that will squirt the water up into the air at random intervals. You may have seen this in public parks. Kids love it, and if you have a lot of guests, like for a large party, you can turn it off and walk on it. No tripping hazard!
I agree with Aaron , move the rocker benches , git rid of the interior box hedge , put in the new hedge to match the rest of the box . It's a better look .
😂 It smells like a fart. I thought it was you…LOL! Thank you for not editing that out- it’s hilarious! 🤣 Seriously though, I SO look forward to chillaxin’ and watching your channel after work. Thank you for all you do! 🤗
I've been a fan of your channel for quite some time now. I just wanted to say, you have the most stunning property, gardens, trees, lawns, home, buildings, pathways & pond that I've ever seen. The selection of plant life, colors, and textures are phenomenal. You'll work so hard! You are truly blessed 🙌 Your children playing in those gardens must be magical for them! I love how your kitties follow you around 😹 & do naughty things like rollover in your vegetable gardens. Thank you for sharing your amazing, beautiful property. It's great to see those grape vines bouncing back after the pruning & training. Since my home is located in very urban area with no front yard and only a small backyard, I get my garden addiction fix vicariously through you. I'm so excited for this summer and watching your gardens bloom. Sending positive vibes and blessings from northern Indiana
I love the banter in this video. So fun watching you two interact. I think the benches are really challenging you in this tour 😂 I’m sure you’ve covered this, but how do you deal with aphids on roses?
I love Douglas. A breakout UA-cam star. Love Russell too but where is Cheddar? I'd never leave home if I lived there. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
I suggest that for the formal patio benches, they can be on a square of bricks 🧱 added to the patio but surrounded by a line of space of soil to plant boxwoods around the benches one in front of the other one and behind these boxwoods there can be the pathways going from the patio to the fireplace and the wisteria arch, this way you don’t lose the symmetrical looking, the benches and the boxwoods
Arrons onto something. IMO the benches look nicer on the patio vs in the dirt. I enjoy watching you thought process and hearing your opinions. Beautiful garden tour. I look forward to your summer tours! 💗

The longer your videos are the better! Every single second is completely enjoyable! 💚💚
I'm with Aaron on the rocking chair benches being on the patio...sorry Laura. The area with your large outdoor dining table (& with the large spruce) is just gorgeous ...what a beautiful space!
The Sparkling Sprite crabapple at the Hartley took my breath away! It is glorious!❤❤❤
I was going to go back and review the name of that crabapple. The search is on for one. ‘‘Twas beautiful.
RE : Brick Patio Area
I Fully Agree With Aaron's Idea Regarding The Boxwoods And Relocating The Two Black Metal Rockers.
Me too! And the grass would look soo nice with that path in the middle of it.
Yes GRASS
What about a large bowl fountain in spring circle garden or 3 head fountain shooting up for a small splash pad?
I like the idea of more grass in front of the Hartley! I think it would make the Hartley stand out more.
A black standing raised planter box would be pretty under the kitchen window.
I’m with Aaron on the boxwood hedge and benches on the brick patio; it would look more uniform.
Your garden has come so far and is so beautiful. You’ve been a real inspiration for my own city size small garden!
I wish I could fast forward to 2054 and see this space!!!
Absolutely!!!!
Great idea!
I was thinking a small shed, but yes. Exactly. Laura has always wanted a pergola. What a fabulous idea. 👌
My vote is to bring a swath of the grass across that paved walkway between the house and hartley the way you described it. Resting place for eyes is a good idea and Aaron is so good at keeping the grass looking nice. But of course whatever you do will be just marvelous!
Yes I agree, bring the grass
Yes bring the GREEN!!!
Love the video and never too long. If I can’t get thru in one sitting a finish it later. More is more!
Agree that the kitchen window needs something...window box, bench or raised planter under it. I also agree with Aaron on the boxwood/walkway/bench idea. And a low basin fountain would look great in that open area.
I absolutely love that your cats follow you around the garden. They always make me smile when they are on camera 🐈⬛ 🐈
And so sweet of Laura to give Russell cuddles after Douglas was mean to him 😻
Oh, goodness. My dog is watching intently, just waiting for another cat sighting. He's just convinced he must give them a thorough scolding!😅
@@Sisteryoda1440 Douglas has taken over their entire property.
He is a bully....and needs to go to a new home to be the ONLY cat. He would like that too!
I must agree with Aaron regarding the boxwood issue on the new large patio area. Sorry, Laura. We need the symmetry
No colored lights!
I agree with Aaron about the boxwood/ rocking bench situation. I think the current path is too narrow.
Well done!!
Your place has come along way!! Congrats on all the hard work its absolutely beautiful!!😊
Your tours are never too long. I love them. Has Douglas forgotten who has seniority out there?
Or even an outdoor cabinet with the same idea. ❤
I agree, a black window box would be beautiful! I think it would bring you lots of smiles as you work in your beautiful kitchen. I do, however, understand not having to water and clean another area. Whatever you do, it will be perfect! Spring brings such beautiful color, but Fall gives us just as much beauty.
I agree with Aron about the boxwoods and the benches!
So Aaron is right about the bench’s. Sorry Laura. When you have a beautiful fountain in the center you will want to sit and enjoy the view.
LOVE LOVE THE LONG VIDEOS!!! Thank you 😊
Have you considered a dancing water element instead of a formal fountain which holds water?
I really liked seeing the black rocker bench on the patio ❤. Aaron is on to something there.
Was that you! No!!! Was it you! 🤣🤣
So good to see you two laughing together- natural not staged.
Your garden is looking sooo good- Laura at her finest sharing her designs as we tour - so inspiring.
Love you two and your garden.
Agree: sharing Laura's & Aaron's design process was the most interesting part of the tour.
Yeah I’d say purposefully done.. poor Douglas
Douglas was quite the character in this video!!
I agree with Aaron , move the rocker benches , git rid of the interior box hedge , put in the new hedge to match the rest of the box . It's a better look .
I like Aaron's suggestion with the box wood hedge by the fireplace. The pathway is too narrow as it sits right now. Sorry Laura I agree with Aaron.😊
The foot path from the Hartly to the house would look wonderfully soft lined with lavender!
I like your idea of bringing the grass up to the walkway and spilling it over on the other side 5:49
😂 It smells like a fart. I thought it was you…LOL! Thank you for not editing that out- it’s hilarious! 🤣 Seriously though, I SO look forward to chillaxin’ and watching your channel after work. Thank you for all you do! 🤗
The lawns look beautiful, Aaron.🌱👌
This was a treat! An hour long video tour with everything poppin' and looking beautiful! Thank you, Laura. 🌲🌷🌷🌼🌼🌺🌺
I've been a fan of your channel for quite some time now. I just wanted to say, you have the most stunning property, gardens, trees, lawns, home, buildings, pathways & pond that I've ever seen. The selection of plant life, colors, and textures are phenomenal.
You'll work so hard! You are truly blessed 🙌
Your children playing in those gardens must be magical for them!
I think the benches are really challenging you in this tour 😂
I’m sure you’ve covered this, but how do you deal with aphids on roses?
I love Douglas. A breakout UA-cam star. Love Russell too but where is Cheddar? I'd never leave home if I lived there. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Arron, I like your idea with the benches. It looks tidy and cozy on the patio.
Yes to the planter box under that window and I agree with Aaron about the Rocking benches. They are in the way of the boxwood hedge walkway.
I agree withAaron about the Boxwood. Garden lines should make sence.
😻 Little Douglas stuck with you for the whole Tour! Which was great, btw ...the tour😊.
