- Definitely one of the coolest new modules in my rig that can bring character, complexity and pure chaos to your patch. Big fun and highly recommended.

I. Love. This. And I must say, as a person who is extremely busy during the day your videos are very helpful for those rare moments I actually get to play with my modular. Whether it’s more informative videos, or creative “patch ideas” they shorten up the learning curve for me so that my time spent is far more productive. I’m not rich by any stretch, but in my current situation I have less time than I do money….so most of the modules you highlight I own, but don’t have a lot of time to investigate or research deeply. Your channel has been an immense help in allowing me to move much more quickly to the “happy accidents” or productive sonic explorations (as well as understanding some of the basic concepts or “outside the box” patching ideas). Simply put, your channel has been indispensable. Thanks for everything you do!!!
Thank you for sharing your story. It's really cool to get to know you all a little! And you're welcome!
One of my favorite youtubers doing a video on one of my favorite modules!!! So happy right now great video as always and yes data bender adds so much character to tracks!
Great video. Really inspiring and great timing on your part. I'm waiting for my Data Bender to e delivered tomorrow. Always looking forward to more of your videos. ✌️😍
Always inspirational. Really enjoyed this one.
Another excellent vid. I love distortion and glitches. I'm all about characterful VCAs and glitch pedals right now but can see this is a great approach.
I think I need this. Great presentation and some goosebump grooves.
Really great demo!
That Arbhar-Data Bender combo works surprisingly well! I've struggled to really see much point in getting a Data Bender myself, as what I've seen most people do with it isn't my cup of tea, but perhaps I shouldn't write it off just yet...
I think it can do more than many people (including myself) have shown. I had some great patches before I recorded this video but wasn't able to recreate them. I also did a great patch and then exported my music with the track still muted and found out when it was too late. So there's a lot more to discover! I hope this video will give you an impression of what imperfections can add to a patch and not making it too brutal. I feel the module will be at its best in a 'less is more' scenario, or with a separate FX chain for the Data Bender. I am going to give this a try soon.
@@CinematicLaboratory Oh god, I hate it when that happens! Once it's lost, you'll NEVER get it again. That's modular... You can get near it, but it'll never be the same. It's like that Tibetan monk thing where they create a big piece of sand-art only to destroy it right after they finish making it. The art of accepting that nothing lasts.
thank you for your videos, always so inspiring! and I love databender, had to get a second one..😅
Thanks for sharing! I am not sure what I'd do with a second data bender :)
Brilliant. Again. LOL. Thanks so much, man.
I do believe you've sold me on this, my friend.
Well, it IS a great investment :). Have fun with it!
Very nice! Were is the beat coming from @3:09?
That's three Plaits in kick, snare and hat mode, sequenced by marbles in 'red' mode (drum pattern). Plaits is often overlooked as a great source for beats and custom drum machines. This is why I use three. I can create a custom kit, but I can also use this set for polyphonic patches and chords. Bass is coming from the DPO.
@@CinematicLaboratory Great thanks! - I like the way you have it slowly evolving too.
Damn! Does Qu-Bit use lasers instead of LEDs as indicators?
Indeed, the lights on Qu-Bit modules are way, way, way too much for the camera and they all turn white when recording in my dim light conditions.
Qu bits jack inputs are super grabby too. I love my bloom and data bender but make sure your rack is secure and modules are fully screwed in cause pulling out cables can sometimes move the whole rack 🤣 still love em though.
@@planetplex that’s because a lot of manufacturers are using shittier jacks lately
I find it hard to use distortion in my patches... I mean, I know a few songs where I really like the distortion in it, but there are many sorts and I don't want to 'buy them all'. The Data Bender is one of those which I'm considering, but rack space... Haha...
Also thinking of patching it from more common modules if that is possible.
I also started making instruments for the Nebulae v2, I think I'll will experiment with distortion from there, but it won't be as full featured, but still...
I wish I could write code for the Nebulae V2! Personally, I love noise and glitches for sonic experimentation so for me the Data Bender is a great sound design tool but I can easily imagine it's not for everyone.
@@CinematicLaboratory after setting up the Instrument Tester it makes programming 100% easier (took me two days to figure out). After that you need to figure out the Csound language. Modifing the 'World of Echo' is a good start and straightforward, but the Granular instrument is very complicated.

Performer not in the main case? or just trying new things?
Always trying new things :). But performer is definitely my main sequencer. It's currently in my live system.
