    I just saw the interview on 'The Paddy Crerand Show' on MUTV and had to immediately watch the film. Tremendous work, Roy Khalil: profoundly moving. As for Ricky Nuttall, extremely touching words. I am so very glad you have now recovered somewhat from the trauma and to you and all firefighters everywhere: thank you for your service.

    Wow....wonderful Poetry, which takes other's there during that disastrous period.
    That is what I call true and real poetry, making others feel the anxiety and pain which
    could never be erased.
    I wasn't there, but it haunted me for weeks following this tragedy. I was in complete
    shock and also considered it as being surreal. I often wondered - if this tragedy had
    affected my mind, then what about the others who were there in the presence ?
    This is true Poetic works of art, which should be recognized nationally and awarded
    with a prize !!!

    This absolute disgrace of a tragedy has been superseded in terms of attention by the latest fuck up of brexit. I won't forget, few normal people will forget. London won't forget. Much love to you Ricky. Martin from Brixton

    Has paddy not been to a fire where people have died before ? Can he not cope with his job ? Has he not been trained to cope with his job as a firefighter and had coping skills taught to him ? ? Grenfell was horrible we can all agree on that , I'm just shocked that so many first responders seem unable to cope with there actual employment

    • @justrick999
      @justrick999 4 роки тому +3

      We don't have an inability to cope with our jobs. I was back on duty four hours after my shift ended. I find your thinking strange. What makes me incredible at my job is my ability to feel empathy. If we lose someone, it hurts me. Because I care about that persons life. It's why I train so hard, at work and physically. It's why I've been so vocal about the importance of looking after your mental health. You are obviously not a firefighter or you would already know that you can't be taught how to deal with trauma. That training doesn't exist. Mental health has always been a problem in traumatic jobs like the armed forces and emergency services. The only difference now is we are starting to talk about it and fix our minds, instead of bottling it up and going home to our families who are met with anger and abuse in all forms and ultimately end up divorced and/or estranged from their kids. I am happy being me and with who and how I am. Work on yourself so you can be nicer. It's a lovely world out their if you confront your pain and connect with those around you.

      This isn't an inability to cope with one's employment. The amount of horrors one experiences over a career takes it's toll, but can be managed. But an event such as Grenfell where the death toll and stresses was greater than any one there had experienced, as well as the unbearable feeling if failure or feeling guilty due to feeling that you could have saved more is something that you could never prepare yourself for.

      99% of fire calls don't end up with anyone dead and the greatest damage is to property. One death or serious injury is considered a huge tragedy. Now multiply that by 80.

    I'm a Firefighter , Grenfell was a difficult job to go to by all accounts , terrible loss of life , but I find this stuff embarrassing and reeks of self promotion , firefighters have to get on with it that's our job . Move on to the next job , I've got 25 years in the service and take pride in just getting on with it no matter what .Must be better therapy out there than making moody videos and talking to Ruth Langsford on this morning , get a grip .Also you haven't got any hair so it wouldn't be smoke stained lazy rhyming .

      You understand there are people in London who were no where near that fire and have suffered mentally from seeing a tower burn down that quickly and knowing that as they’re watching that fire people are inside burning to death. It’s kind of a humans worst nightmare manifested. I watched it on TV from the US and I wasn’t ok in my head or spirit for a few months. It was live on tv in the evening here and I just sat there and watched this tower burn down, knowing people were inside. It’s one of the most frightening things I’ve ever witnessed. I can’t imagine any firefighter being able to walk away anything but completely shattered as a humans and suffer from ptsd, knowing that 72 people died, entire families in some cases.

      Hey John! What makes me incredible at my job is my ability to feel empathy. If we lose someone, it hurts me. Because I care about that persons life. It's why I train so hard, at work and physically. It's why I've been so vocal about the importance of looking after your mental health. You can't be taught how to deal with trauma. That training doesn't exist. Mental health has always been a problem in traumatic jobs like the armed forces and emergency services. I am happy being me and with who and how I am. Work on yourself so you can be nice. You say this is self promotion? Please explain how? I fail to see how you could ever be a firefighter. Talking about the effects of something means just that. I also "get on with my job" and have never booked sick through mental health issues. Discussing the importance of mental health in men is a very worthy cause and I suspect you would benefit from doing the same. Lastly you have hair all over your body and it does indeed become smoke stained......but again, you would know that if you were actually a firefighter 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
