Well, here it is September 20th 2024 and I just received my delta pro, tested it and the neutral and hot are reversed, both the 20 amp plugs and the 30 amp plug, I sent an email to the support team asking for an explanation.

Ahhh stranded wire being used with screw terminals should not be tinned. Look it up “on the line”. An electrical wire ferrule (Cord End Sleeves) is a metal tube crimped over stranded wire to secure the strands within a screw terminal. First thing they tell us to check on 3D Printer builds. We build many high power extensions and chassis and all use sleeves or ferrules.
yup, especially with a high amp plug. All it takes is some corrosion and heat, and you have the potential for molten solder to cause a short. Always crimped ferrules, terminal lugs, screw caps, for twisted wire.

Jason, for future reference, the silver screw is for the neutral or white wire, and the colored screw is for the colored wire or hot and black, red, or even blue are considered colored wires. all plugs and switches use the same coloring convention. I'm a retired union electrician local 11 mike
Maybe the original plan was to have the 30A outlet installed with the ground down, just like the 20A outlets. Would probably be easier for an aVeRaGe JoE to rotate that outlet 180° instead of soldering and extending the short wire.
RV Service tech here. Electrical specialist. Have the hot and neutral reversed on an RV could pose a very serious risk. In some cases the ground and neutral are tied together on RV's. Yes i know that's against code but it does happen both by mistakes and by some built in inverter/chargers if not seeing a power input will bond the two. It's complicated but fun hence why I love the work.
I have both those tools to check for reverse polarity, and a bonding plug. All I need is a Delta Pro!

@@Peter.Sky.Walker yep; letters will get upside down, and not sure if it would work for all wires (yellow ground now on top would need to travel to the other side).
Never did check my KS delta pro until now, super late to the game, but happy to report that my unit did not have the wires reversed. I did the continuity test that he outlined on the video. Sorry to all of those who had to or may still be dealing with this issue. I hope you get taken care of. It's bad enough that you might have to take it apart to fix, but to have to add an extension to one of the cables is absolutely a no-go for most of us.
Well that explains why I'm showing reverse polarity on surge protector!! And bought new in 9.2023, so I don't know if anything changed for all of the units...

8:30 - you will get open ground fault. The way to solve that is to use a bonding plug. You can buy them online. The tester checks for continuity between ground and neutral, as that is bonded in your service panel. I’m going to send this video to R&D for them to look at it. I used a crimped butt splice on mine. WARNING - do NOT use the bonding plug while charging from AC. In some cases it can fault out and even blow the fuse in some rare instances. Plugging in will also work because it will use the bond in your first means of disconnect (main panel) where per NEC 250.24(B) the bonding must occur.

If they claim it was assembler error, that smells like BS. Why? According to your unit, it would have been impossible to assemble it correctly (you had to solder an extension onto one of the wires). That means they designed it wrong and the hot/neutral wires were designed to be cut to the wrong length.
Or am I wrong?
maybe they shorten the wires just before screwing them down, so it looks neater during teardowns. It‘s still stupid we get to see hand assembled products, and not production models

@@michaelandrew83 uh you use the phrase “conspiracy vibes” without making any sense. No conspiracy, just trying to get clarity on if their explanation is honest or BS. Blaming the lowest rung assemblers for making a mistake is an easy out. If that’s true then ok. But was it really a mistake by their designers? If so, then that’s a different situation.
Like another commenter said, they might have installed that outlet upside down. If it were installed the other way, with the ground down, those wires would have been the correct lengths.
@@michaelandrew83 It would be a conspiracy if these faulty units were specifically targeted at a specific demographic. That doesn't seem to be the case here. Most likely a sincere mistake, would you agree?
Below noticing EcoFlo saying they've resolved issue 2 years ago. I'm not so sure, get reverse polarity on my new unit, bought 9.2023!! When I use regular 120v it's okay? Only on the 30amp RV hookup!! Oh well, it's running my RV with air-conditioning on... Somehow it's corrected itself??? Maybe just leave well enough alone .. thank you...

With this knowledge should you not review prototype units. If the production units are different how would you know that the build quality meets your standards? Thoughts?

Wow! Hopefully that's just beta units that's a huge production miss. Awesome find for the DYi Community to alert everyone that is pretty serious safety hazard... This wire tinning !? Highly debated topic... As your video shows with the thermal imaging terminals create heat! It's always the point of attachment we see thermal or mechanical breakdown which leads to failure very rarely the cables just melt... So tinting the wire can sometimes increase the heat affected zone special care should be taken in making this mechanical fastening.. The terminal is rated for certain compression torque rating to receive its rating... Also one must in sure the sufficient deformation within the mechanical connection to ensure sufficient loading services are employed.. The durometer; rating of compressibility rating of a soldered tin wire , feral pins or sleeves.. Must be fully understood for the application for which it's applied. Hope this helps our community. Any news on the regular production units... I was about to buy one just now 5/17/22 but then I saw this video.
12:45 - 240V has a maximum of 12.5 amps so it will run cooler. The 120v charging is up to 15A (on a 20A circuit) so it’s a bit warmer. The spec for charging through the back AC port is 3kW maximum. Infinity can go to 3400W and you do that with an EV J1772 or the smart home panel. I’ll have some videos of the smart home panel soon so look out for it in the FB group.
Looking at original cable length it doesn't look like human error during assembly, it was designed that way!
Jehu the Neutral (White) wire if is not in the correct way it can cause a shock in electric toasters and you don't want the power line (Black) wire to land in to the ground remember that Neutral wire is grounded to the Green wire so appliances can be affected and trigger a GFCi on the wall.
Now everyone will really recive the perfect powerstation.
not a licenced electrician; but in my limited experience, I've seen most cables spec'd to 150F, but mostly being limited to the plastic insulation before the voltage rating rapidly drops. 44C doesn't seem too outside of what I'd call "normal"

How about a hack of the delta pro whereby I could charge via AC while the dual voltage hub is on. This would really help as I cannot do this now.

Open ground is normal since there isn't actually a "ground" anyway.
I have a ecoflow pro as well, same model and nothing charges, it's fully charged itself but turns off when I connect my cables to the outlets 😢
I live in the UK, and I have now had two Ecoflow Delta Pro's, with reversed polarity. (Dangerous) Wiith the replacement second Battery, the wifi did not work either. Very disappointed with Ecoflow, still waiting for Ecoflow to sort this out.

Some inverters internally tie the ground to the neutral to simulate a fake ground. Others use a floating ground. I would have been nice if you had measured that one too to see if it was connected.
It does not have bonded neutral.

Bad sign that they lied. If the cable doesn't reach, then it can't be assembly error. Especially if their teardown showed the same problem. At least it seems the company is open enough that these problems are caught. Someone like Apple or Tesla is so secretive, something like this wouldn't be caught until the first house burns down.
EcoFlow needs to default the charge rate much lower than 1686 watts default. something like 800 - 600 watts. Let me explain.
I just plugged into a 30 amp outlet in a campground. It's hot out. The EcoFlow it plugged in to charge at 1686 watts. That's about 17 amps on the plug. Now I turn on the AC 13000 btu. Then the converter is also on charging the house battery. Now we are using the full 30 amps of the service plug. What do you think is going to happen? And we all know how nice those service plugs are. Most of them are old and not up to the task. bad wiring, long runs, croaded connectors, the list goes on. Not to mention does the EcoFlow charger use power factor correction.
You can set it to whatever you want on the pro. You’ll need the app though
It is your fault for charging the Ecoflow on the same circuit as your RV. Look on the pedestal and you will notice additional receptacles. That way you are not overloading your RV circuit like you mentioned you have the converter on and air conditioner on and probably fridge too!
So we plugged in our delta pros to rv it turned on for 1 second and then shut off. Help
The matn problem is not that when using it in ups mode the most that happens is you fry components that's under warranty they fix it free the problem is for those that use them to power cabins think of it you're up on a ladder changing a light bulb and you touch the base as you're unscrewing instead of touching the comon you're touching hot the outcome can be catastrophic some people are allergic to electricity for most it's a little tingling for others a heart attack or knocking you off the ladder

This is exactly the problem with all the beta review units. Companies hand build them and send them out to guys to review and show how great they are, knowing full well they're not built like the production units will be. They said they're going to automate that connection. You struggled with how they might do that with THAT plug. That probably means the plug and/affixation process is changing. They'll cheapen up the plug and use an insert connection, or a molded plug with leads soldered back to the board. This will decrease the quality and reduce serviceability. Sending out review units that aren't 100% as they expect to build production units (aside from reviewers pointing out issues and them being corrected) is false advertisement in my mind. They're having reviewers "sell" a model of product that simply isn't what will actually be for sale.
I joined the EcoFlow Delta Pro UA-cam community and pointed out a lot of problems and was not allowed yo comment for a time. EcoFlow doesn't like people pushing them to be better. They are after all a Chinese company. America where are our Power Bank products made totally in America?
I Work with robots and they do not handle fine motor skills at all. In a perfect environment sure a robot could screw things together. But in real life scenario every thing is not going to be lined up perfectly every time. And even with the best AI available to date a robot can not figure out a course of corrective action. So if they attempt to automate the process they should expect a lot of down time do to robot malfunction. Only thing I could think of is if they used a robot to solder the three wires instead but even then the production tolerances would have to be extremely tight to mitigate issues.
Human error is going to happen they need a device to detect proper wiring of every unit leaving the facility. Even if they had a plug tester. The amount of lability issues that could come of that is insane. So to respond with a blatant lye about automating that process is irresponsible. When you were simply trying to help.
Realistically, 44C depending on the gauge shouldnt be terrible.
Looking for a grid tie inverter that has ability to also power a small fridge when the power goes out. Feeds back to grid rest of the time. The grid ties I've seen all have island capability.

pot twist: it shouldn't matter. line and ground should only be bonded at exactly one point within an electrical system. any electrical device should work perfectly fine with line and neutral flipped, or at least be safe, since as this demonstrates, these things happen.

@@jehugarcia Also bro, am i mistaken? Did they solder the tips of the cables were they get compressed by a bolts to make the connection? You know that can cause issues. It will give you a false sense that you have tightened the bold but Solder squeezes out over time and will make the connection loose over time. It can cause a hot spot as well in time. Better to use ferrules terminals at least.
