Your videos are top notch! You explain everything in detail, don't waste any time, are to the point, no music over, and you are so clearly understood. Well done!!!
Wow thank you. No time for wasting time…🤔😅👍🏼
Thanks for watching 👊🏼👍🏼😀
exactly what I needed. Why aren't all videos straight to the point like this one? Would add more thumbs up if I could.
Thank you, and I hear ya 😅👍🏼👊🏼
Seems like a better designed silicone gasket would eliminate this ridiculous procedure.
It’s not to bad though
Do you think this would be safe to use indoors if the extension hose was fed through a wall to let the co escape?
Noooo!!!!
This is for a shed or generator box or something where people are not supposed to be. Besides this thing is loud!
Phillips is a brand, he means cross headed screw head! Nice hand gestures, you could model jelly moulds from the 60’s! ❤
Actually Henry Phillips invented the “Phillips screw driver” to use a cross sectioned screw. Or a Phillips screw.
Both names work and it’s still known today as a Phillips screw driver or a cross headed. 😀👍🏼
Thanks for the video. Just installed on the newer dual fuel unit and the procedures are exactly the same.
Thanks for the info
Is there a limit in length of the exhaust extension you can mount? I'd be happy if I could prolong the exhaust all the way up along my chimney, so that none of the fumes can make their way back. Is there an issue with such an approach?
So you can make the tube longer I have seen 20 feet for some but I kinda though this would restrict the exhaust wave causing heat build up and burning the piston but seems people have done it.
Now when you say up the chimney as in have the generator inside?????
@@johnnysweekends I meant all the way up alongside the chimney, but still on the outside. I would not run the generator inside. I'm an electrician who knows nothing about combustion engines 🙂 and I was afraid not to damage the engine with having the exhaust pipe too long.
Ahh got ya. They actually make these generator exhaust extension kits for RVs that are really long so I guess it must not be a issue. I always though to long of a exhaust would create excess heat in the exhaust wave and cause detonation but it seems to be working fine on the generators.
Check out this kit for reference..amzn.to/3C8Cyc5
Can anyone in uk point me in the right direction for the exhaust extention please as the link this video provides gives to a jet wash
Thanks
Please can you tell me the name of the exhaust kit? The link you posted is not working. Thanks for sharing - it's just what I'm looking for 👍
This should be it

@johnnysweekends Thanks. Unfortunately I'm in Spain so the link doesn't work. Can you tell me the name of the part please (size etc) and I can try to find the same here. (I haven't yet received my ecoflow generator so can't measure it myself) 😅
@LocalmotionSpain Firman generator #68 spark arrestor cover plate 1inch
After doing this, my engine won’t start. Could I have done something wrong?
Hello great video so you know we're I can buy it in europe? It does nog ship to the Netherlands🤨
I missed the part why you need an extension installed.
Some people run these in extreme areas so they will build a generator box or have it in a bar or shed or more. This is to pass through a wall or exit out somewhere.
Obviously a heat shield pass through plate of some sort would be needed.
Maybe a dumb question, but if the exhaust sticks out half and inch, could you not just attach the exhaust extension directly to that instead of cutting it off and adding a flange adapter?
It long enough and different diameter
This Assumes that the Muffler itself is not leaking CO2
Always test run after and the onboard co2 on this unit is sensitive so should pick it up. I always recommend a store bought second monitor.
I know for an absolute fact that this generator is not leaking CO2...
@@traviskimbrell1209 LOL
Of course it is… right out the back of that pipe..! Lol
@@johnnysweekends LOL, while technically you're correct, it's the carbon MONOXIDE that kills (CO), not carbon DIOXIDE (CO2). But seriously, I'm just busting your balls.
I enjoy your videos, keep up the awesome work!
What electric tool did you use to cut?
Have a good holiday weekend JW.
You too Mike 👍🏼😎
Why do you need to install a Smart Generator Exhaust Extension?
This is for when you want to run in a enclosed are to keep out of rain or snow. This is so the gasses can exit to outside area
Do you have to cut any part in smart generator or does accessory match without cutting?
Yes this was explained in the video, about the exhaust outlet. It’s simple but that’s why it has to come apart for access.
If it was explained, I also missed it.
You have to cut the nipple that protrudes past the flange. I cut it but didn’t get that on video
Would this kit fit my wen 3800 ?
I would say 95% yes from what I remember it has the same exhaust flange and spacing. So many are the same and the slots allow for different bolt spacing 😀👍🏼
@@johnnysweekends that's what I thought too
WTF I thought those where lithium batteries?
They are but also have this smart generator that automatically starts and stops ..👍🏼
Aren't these battery powered, wtf? Can't run them inside?
The ECOFLOW lines consists of lithium battery power stations. Small and portable to larger units that can power pretty big items.
This is a smart gas generator that talks to the power stations and when the power is low the generator will start and stop automatically.
It’s part of the ECOFLOW eco system.
It’s pretty neat.
And I assume the competition is only going to get bigger.
@@johnnysweekends Sweet just went on their website looks interesting. Way overpriced still, hard pass.
Yea it’s a tough item to buy upfront but they do have a place and prices are coming down and some more competitors will drive the price down.
I’ll have more videos of these items soon throughout the year.
Egsoz borusunun ucuna susturucu takılıp gürültü azaltılabilir mi?
did you watch any videos to learn how to take the generator apart?
No, I make those videos.
I’ve torn stuff down and put stuff together all my life.
So I just do it.
Your modernhouse ecoflow link is 404.
I contacted them hoping for a answer quick but looks more like website down for some reason.
I’ll put a update out and hopefully get a answer soon.
I have been looking for information, without success, on an EcoFlow River 370 portable power station. I tired to make a pot of coffee with it this am and it didn’t work. Can you help with this?
Thanks
What size is the coffee pot?
What’s the power usage?
@@johnnysweekends that was the problem. The pot was a large ninja from Costco. I think 750watts. I need a different ecoflow power station
Or a different pot lol
Lots of new products coming out 👍🏼
Thank you!!
Excellent !
Or ecoflow can make a kit that fits?
Not sure there is enough demand
Is there a reason you’d need to take off the rubber around the base of the gas cap? It looks like I could leave it on there. There’s no fasteners beneath it. 🤔
It’s when you take off the main grey cover. It won’t allow it to come off very easy. It’s like pulling it hard enough you think you are going to break something.
Now maybe if you hear it up or it was in the sun but the rubber was colder when I did this. But that’s the only reason to remove it. Or else it really won’t come off very well. But again maybe if heated to make it more playable
@@johnnysweekends I’ll put the generator in the bonfire to warm it up and see if it’s easier. 🤣 Just got this today… we live in a skoolie with a delta pro and the smart generator addition is so great!!!
It is great. Hopefully they last but will see.
First - Great video. Thank you. I followed your instructions and exhaust extension is doing its thing. But, I still have a significant amount of "air flow" from the back of the unit, such that I have to leave the area open and run a fan. Did I do something wrong?
When you mean airflow i assume exhaust smell ?? One, make sure you have the gasket. Two the exhaust piece is aligned properly to where the holes are lined up. And also the clamp and hose are slide on and tight. I know some people have added a exhaust wrap on some of these. But start with the double checking of install
Oh and thank you….😀👍🏼
@@johnnysweekends I mean smell and actual full blown air flow out the back. Like - I thought the exhaust was supposed to go through the hole, but it's blowing a lot out of the back vents. I'm pretty sure I put everything together right, including the gasket. Are you telling me that if I did it right, there should be NO air blowing out the back of the unit?
No the air from the unit is the fan on front of the unit moving air across the engine to cool it and then it blows out the back of the unit as just hot air. But that should not have fuel or exhaust vapor. All exhaust fumes should come out the exhaust.
But yes the unit will move hot air out the rear vent. That is for cooling it self
So if your using this on your camper van you can just use it inside and take the muffler out then your fine?
Noooooo!!!
This would be more for say in a shed to keep unit out of weather and vent it outside so the CO monitor doesn’t shut it off. Or a gen box and such.
You do what you want, but this should never be inside where you reside. One it would be super loud, it’s not quiet.
Two it’s dangerous, if you develop a small leak and don’t know, and the CO monitor fails..??
Again do not have this inside where people are.
In a outside Rv storage compartment where generators go, sure.
Ahh then I can see that working with extra CO monitors down stairs and upstairs. I thought it was a camper van or something of that sort..👍🏼
It doesn't look like a 1200+ unit quite honestly. Looks like cheap Chinese crap. Flimsy low quality plastic everywhere.
And why this kind of modification is even required if you can't run it inside anyway?
I’m not sure how to help you on this but you may need to do more research on what this unit is for. Honda is a great unit but also is covered in a bunch of cheap Chinese plastic..🤷♂️
And you should never run a gas generator inside with out being able to vent the exhaust gases out. This is for generator sheds and more.
@@johnnysweekends I know exactly what this unit is for. Which is why I don't understand why is this needed. It wasn't meant for such use.
Well I assume people may wanna keep this dry and use in a generator box or shed and more, so if you don’t want the co monitor to go off then you need to vent the exhaust gases out.
Hence you need a extension or this will be useless if it’s in a box or shed of any kind.
I am very happy with it. The plastic is high quality and sturdy. The real benefits are the electric start, the extra DC powerand the app so you can monitor status, start/stop engine and see maintenance needs. Nice affiliation, just happy with it so far.
@@TSi99999 If quality is the same as my River 2 Max, which it looks like it is, I wouldn’t say that plastic is that good nor that I’m remotely happy with the unit. Ecoflow software is notoriously buggy. And I don’t only mean their app, which btw is essential for using most if not all of their products because there’s no other way to change settings. I mean internal software as well. I have nothing but headache while using it ever since I got it.
The exhaust link must be USA only as in England it shows a power washer
Wow weird …🤔
Can you try this for me and see what it does..? amzn.to/3ILocT9
That also shows a power washer in uk
@johnnysweekends still looking for a UK link? Or even a working link to US site to help identify diameters etc
@gstriumph that’s weird that link still takes me to the exhaust kit. I dont know how to provide a UK link. It’s for a predator 2000 and other MZ-80 engines. Try to find a kit for that. So many are similar
@@johnnysweekends thanks. Gives us uk users a lead
Good job sir!!
Thanks 👍🏼😀
Installed this and put it through the wall of a shed but I'm still get CO alarms. What did we do wrong?
Check for proper fitting alignment and make sure to use gasket, also some of those pipes seem better than others depending where they get them from the supplier. Some have gone rigid pipe
Good Stuff Thanks !!
What do you use to insulate the exhaust pipe through the wall to the outside?
You could go through a modified through wall plate like used for pellet stove exhausts. Those get really hot.
So options like that.
Plus since you have the exhaust adapter you can utilize other types of hose or pipe other then that one.
Sorry, I can't see why you need to cut off the existing exhaust pipe. it looks flat as I can see and just need to screw it with a gasket. please advise me.
small extension from ecoflow generator already cut before this video. So you can not see here.😆
It’s not long enough to clamp on to. It will just slip off. Wrong diameter as well
Looks like you could have left the rubber around the fill neck on.
Maybe but the amount of force needed to pull the whole frame off was more then I wanted to pull. So I took it off so I didn’t risk the jerk and pull and not knowing if I would damage something.
Sometimes one extra piece is worth not shredding stuff apart lol.
I am not sure why one would want to run a noisy generator indoors so I am not sure why one would want to do this. I feel that I am one of the fortunate ones because I was going to buy this generator but then found the GENMAX Portable Inverter Generator, 3500W Super Quiet Dual Fuel Portable Engine with Parallel Capability, Remote/Electric Start,GENMAX Portable Inverter Generator, which was almost half the cost and twice the power, runs on propane and has remote start/stop. Oh, it is lighter than the ecoflow gen.
Larry your not comparing apples to apples here. I have most Genmax generators that have come out. I even have the only EFI unit. They are doing very well for a more recent line. But some will put these in sheds to keep out of the weather. So you will then pipe the exhaust out to keep the alarm from going off.
Almost hard to tell if you actually a person a a bot promoting the brand. Also the genmax unit cant do what this can with auto start and shut and more. Granted the genmax does have more power but the EcoFlow products can only charge at 1800 so it does not good to have the extra power.
@@johnnysweekends Yes but with 3500 watts I can charge both my delta pros at the same time,
@LarryRichelli true but you cant start the gen from anywhere lol. All depends what you need. I wish the Smart gen was a little lighter but there is a lot of tech inside
Hallo, mein smard generator startet nach update über die App. der Firmensoftware nicht mehr. Ecoflow hält sich in Schweigen, könnt Ihr mir helfen ??
🤷♂️
is there a Unboxing video out there anywhere that tells us what all comes with the dam thing!!!! Not even the company makes it clear as to what all comes with this unit!
Yes I have one..🤷♂️
Here ya go let me know if you have questions
ECOFLOW Smart Generator Test Review
ua-cam.com/video/MtKGzfpdfnw/v-deo.html
Easier to simply unscrew the original exhaust cap and weld a tube onto it - no pulling the unit apart that way.
You’ll melt the plastic in the back. Either way you can try it
@johnnysweekends yea, but if you remove the original from the unit and weld a tube on it on a bench and reinstall it, you'll save yourself taking the unit apart. I can't see why that wouldn't work.
@Ramjet7777 you can’t remove the black plastic cover with out taking it apart. You can remove the screen but to weld properly and not burn it up you need to remove the cover.
@johnnysweekends either I'm missing something, or you're not getting what I'm trying to say?
The tip of the standard exhaust can be removed to service the spark arrester - yes!
This can be done without taking the unit apart!?
Once you have removed the standard steel exhaust tip, by removing the 2 screws, walk away from the generator with the exhaust tip and place it on a welding bench on the other side of room and weld a steel tube on it and wait for it to cool down. Once it has cooled down, refit the tip back on the generator.
This would take less than 5 minutes start to finish. No pulling the generator apart this way.
You can't burn anything on the generator if your welding the exhaust tip on a bench on the otherside of the room.
@Ramjet7777 if you want to weld onto the aluminum cap which is super thin you can. But it won’t hold up.
