  • A bit of break from my usual fishing content. Starting two years ago I started running. At first it was terrible. I hated it, I felt like crap, and I could barely run a few miles at a slow pace. Over these past few years running and racing has transformed me both physically and mentally. Thanks to running I am now physically and mentally healthier and stronger than ever. This transformation has given the confidence to take on what would seem to be insurmountable challenges in my life. Will I qualify for the Boston Marathon maybe or maybe I won't. I'll never know if I don't try.

    Good for you, Tyler! Amazing. I just turned 47 and am the heaviest I've ever been (225). Seeing you do so well, really makes me wanna get to it and start working on bettering myself. Thank you sir!

    This convinced me to finally dig out my HR strap that I've been neglecting on runs lately. I like the running content!

WTG your quality of life will vastly improve due to your fitness level improvements. Thanks for sharing! I have found all the same benefits from the running easy philosophy even if it took some time to get around on the idea!

    I'm from Massachusetts I didn't know you had to qualify to run the marathon. Seeing those motorcycles trying to keep up to those runners that kick it up really fast at the end is crazy.
    You should run then fish Quabbin Reservoir for Lakers they have rental boats. I fish Wachusett Reservoir there's Lakers, Smallmouth, and Salomon no boats @ Wachusett though.
    Good Luck With your Marathon.

    I recall you being a “Chunkster “ in your earlier videos catching smaller Kokanee. Now you’re catching “Chunkster” Kokanee and your smaller .

    I think 3:10 is the time you are looking for. However the last few years the number to get in was sub 7 min under qualifying, so 3:03.

      Yes it’s best to aim for sub 3

    According to the 5 V-Shred ads I see every day, cardio doesn’t do anything but burn calories….wait, isn’t that the point?

  • @MrAcuta73
    @MrAcuta73 Місяць тому

    Run?
    After my time in the Army I decided the only reason I would run again was for my life. 😂
    My cardio isn't where it could be, but at 51 I'm still lean and well muscled. I'll miss out on outrunning predators I think.
    Staying in good physical shape is the most important thing I suppose. Our approaches differ. You might have an edge on health, but my knees still work. 😉

      @spiltmilt  Місяць тому +1

      My knees work great. It’s a common myth that running poses any long term risk to your joints.

      @MrAcuta73 Місяць тому +1

      @spiltmilt To be fair, I was just teasing a bit. Though my Captain in Korea was a marathon runner, managed to push me into a couple months of tendinitis in my right knee. Probably more my fault for poor form and short legs.

      Over training can def lead to injury for sure.
