Great tips. Especially love that crystal flash fly. I can see that also as a base to add behind a tiny spinner with a few beads and other creative possibilities. Thanks as always.
Love your work great perspective and explanation of your choices, I wasn't familiar with the "Cut plug" so I followed that link, those little painted piece of plastic are over $7.00 a piece. Ouch! now I know why I wasn't familiar with them. Still I'm glad you shared them with us nice to see more choices out there.
Thank you for the great info. I personally haven’t tried small spoons. Going to add to my arsenal. I have really enjoyed the Kokabow hoochie spinners and plain spinners. They were at a sportsman show here in Yakima a few years back and a representative shared the product. Always one I try first! Have had great success at Chelan with them. Thanks again!!
Great video - I have always thought of the wedding ring spinner blades as being too small - so I have been replacing my blades with the 3.5 Colorado blades and having good success. I will try going with a smaller blade as you suggest.
My new fishing buddy is a HUGE fan of the Wiggle Fins. Problem is, at Riffe Lake they hit everything, so we couldn't tell what was best. Actually they did not like a from Hot Shot or a 3.5 shallow Rapala. Water was 43 degrees. When it hits 50, it'll be even better.
Have you fished God's tooth spoons? That has always been my top producer. The 50/50 blue and gold are the best colors. I undo the hooks and put your double hook rig with a few beads and also flip it so it probably spins more than wobbles.
Do you put blades on your hoochie rigs? If so, do you like the small blades that you showed on your spinners, or do you use smile blades? If no blades with hoochies, why? Thanks
I prefer small blades over smiles but in general I prefer to run plain hoochies because they create less drag and that allows the dodger to thump them side to side more.
Hey Spilt- quick question- when you use the crappie hoochies, do you add any weight to them, like a 1/16th or1/32nd oz jig head? I'm new to the West coast, and ya'll do things just a little different than I did back in North Carolina. I'm loving your vids, and you've been a big help!
The Wild Weasel IS a renamed Dick Nite spoon that's been around for at least 40 years and yes I have taken lots of koks with them. So what happened, did dick nite sell to some one or what?? Thanks for a great video, and keep them coming.
@@spiltmilt makes sense, we just catch quite a few Sockeye below wanupum as a by product fishing for chinook. figured kokanee may play too. thanks for all the videos. never caught a kokanee but you have inspired me to give a try real soon
My family friends and I called it pop gear growing up in the Bay Area in Cali. Also living in Washington state for 5 years we call it pop gear here as well
Have you tried Billy Clapp resevoir yet? I would love to see you spend a day getting all 4 main species out of that lake. Trout, kokanee, smallies, and walleye.
You linked to wild weasels that you described in the video... but they look pretty much the same as Dick Nite's? Is there a difference? Do both work for kokanee?
15-24” behind your dodger and pop gear is way to far. You will not get any action of the pop gear and dodger. Hoochies are not the only good or best Kokanee lure out there!
Caught my first Kokanee thanks to your vids. Your the man!

Little blades off of rooster tail spinners work great with beads and hootchies also.
Great tips. I would agree with all those! Keep up the great videos!
Nice break down of your favorite lures! Great video!
Thanks for the tips, still working on catching my first kokanee. Been out twice. Ended up with a limit of rainbows

Love your vids I’m on Vancouver island I think there are a couple of lakes here with Kokanee I’m going to try for them thanks for all the info
Awesome video. I will definitely try that homemade shrimp pattern. 👍
Thank you for the advice!
Great video my friend. Learned a lot. 👍🏼
Great tip on the small tube jig! Ever hear of Wiggle Fin action discs out of Boise, Idaho? Adds crazy action to your hoochies! Worth checking out!
Yes I've used wiggle fins when fishing flies. They work great!

Great video. Thanks for this! I just recently started Kokanee fishing over in north Idaho!
Thanks good video, now I gotta go spend more money on it !!
A small glow bead on pink flash!!
Love it! Thank you.

I’ve used them and done okay. The Lake Stevens guys seem to love them. I do better with microhoochies
Thanks, great video! What size hooks are you usually running? Do you ever tip any of these set ups?
Size 4. Always tip with corn or Berkeley Gulp Maggots
Can you make a video on how you store them
So the chickens don't eat 'em. Lmao.

No weight on the hoochies
@@spiltmilt Thanks, my friend. My corn's marinating and I'm getting the inflatable ready - Lake Samish is first on the list!
Nice

Dick Nites work great too. They are still around just don't see their tackle in shops as much anymore.
You think a small Dodger and a small spoon from the shore at a deep drop off point would work?
I know you use dodgers a lot, but have you ever tried the 360 flahers for kokanee? 11" / 8" or Leo?
Tried and failed. They require too fast a speed to spin properly

What are you thoughts on "UV ENHANCED" lures? Do you think they are necessary / help? Thanks!
I think they can help for Kokanee
nice vid
Great video
In Utah we call lake trolls “pop gear” don’t know if that’s just a regional thing
My family friends and I called it pop gear growing up in the Bay Area in Cali. Also living in Washington state for 5 years we call it pop gear here as well
How far behind your dodgers and pop gear do you run your cut plugs?
And do you have a favorite brand and type of tuna you use inside the cut plugs?
15-24" leaders on cutplugs. Chicken of the sea in oil.
Thank you @@spiltmilt
Have you tried Billy Clapp resevoir yet? I would love to see you spend a day getting all 4 main species out of that lake. Trout, kokanee, smallies, and walleye.
I have fished it several time. I always do well on trout and kokanee but the walleye seem concentrated far from the boat ramp on the upper end.
Subbed! Thanks for the info :)
You linked to wild weasels that you described in the video... but they look pretty much the same as Dick Nite's? Is there a difference? Do both work for kokanee?
They work for Kokanee but they tend to spit the single hooks alot.
when you are running a wedding ring lure behind a flasher, what is you recommended distance between the two? Much appreciated...
6-8”
@@spiltmilt Thank You for Your time and expertise....
My favorites are wedding rings and hoochies. What’s your favorite color hoochie?
Pink
@@spiltmilt ok I like orange and those colors

That distance I am recommending is only for Brad's Kokanee Cut Plugs. In the video I talk about running hoochies and spinners 6-12" behind dodgers.
