Hi Marek, here as railway nerd, the Beeching reports that lead to the infamous lose of railway services were in 1963 & 1965 so the only railway closure on the island that can actually be blamed on Beeching was the closure of the Island Line between Shanklin and Ventnor including Wroxall (closed 1966). Most of the lines on the island were closed during the 1950s, most of which Dr Beeching spent in Canada working for ICI
That A-Level came from Sandown High so is invalidated by default! Being a local, as soon as I saw the Eastern Yar I had my head in my hands! Have cycled past that source many times and never seen running water! But you saw Adgestone's Mystery Machine and an Adder's back end - that's exciting for Isle Of Wight standards! All the best for the South Downs Way!
Yes. The wildlife was incredible on the walk. Thanks for giving me the idea and giving the walk some mild purpose. Camping is awful. You should have said the A Level was from Sandown High before I set off!
@@cdwc We spent the whole time eating cake in that class! ...And I've made the same wrong turn near Arreton as you - bloomin' confusing! V. cool to see the walk and receiving my full quota of shout outs, before I'm shying away into a corner!
Great walk Marek, love the wildlife. I remember seeing an adder as a child, was intriguing but a bit scary at the same time. I agree 2 pillows are great
Really loved that video Marek. I think what I've learned is no amount of pillows will make camping a pleasant experience! Beautiful views and loved seeing all the wildlife.
That was a great one Marek, it's inspiring me to explore more of the isle when I'm next down there. Re: the cross country, you didn't mention that Tim and I did participate in the island school race and Sandown won - I still have medal somewhere!
An absolute FEST of wildlife on this session, excellent. And as a bonus you are planning the South Downs Way! Have mountain-biked sections many a time. Enjoy and fingers crossed for good weather.
I live in Godshill and used to play football a lot in the field at 10:26 in fact it was one of my mates who smashed the window of the building in the background that is why it is boarded up lol. Also subscribed :)
Just looking at these old walks and glad you ended up at Niton, village of my birth. Interestingly the Yar runs underneath the pavement from Laceys Lane to the shop, under the road then under the pavement again with a few tantalizing glimpses at cottage gates. My Mother said as a child there was a dare to follow the spring under the road/pavement, scary. It is also said that there was a secret passage from the church I think down to Castle Haven beach via the Buddle Inn pub renown for smuggling.
Another fabulous video cherub. How come the town of Yarmouth is on the west of the island but the river of Yar is on the east?! These are the sorts of things which keep me up at night!
Serious pillow talk! not had some of that for a while and never with a man before! Great video Marek, in all seriousness have you thought about a camping trolley or similar thing to carry your stuff for your camping session next week? could be an option. Very interesting seeing the adder, or was it that bloke just hiding with a snake on a fishing line? Whitwell Cemetery - Isn't there some famous buried there Marek, i'm sure I've seen that mentioned somewhere before?
Hi Marek, I did enjoy this vid which has given me an idea for a walk when my pals and I get to the IoW (if we ever get to the IoW). We should have been there for a week in May this year but now hope to be there next year - Coronavirus permitting. The South Downs Way can be every bit as boring as the Yar River Trail and the route can be rather uneven and very muddy. When we did it a few years ago we rigged it to use B&Bs so didn't need to carry tents and stuff - personally I hope never to camp ever again! Anything less than four stars is roughing it for me! Best wishes from Bristol.
Luckily it wasn't too muddy. I know what you mean about camping. I thought the South Downs was a little underwhelming considering all the fuss that's made about it.
I thought I had seen this one but dont remember you camping. Extended camping footage next time please. The start of that river is drier than my dogs bed when he's excited
Cool Dudes Walking Club really? I guess that makes sense. Funny I was sure grass was invented for tennis. Before grass they were mistaking rocks and large bits of gravel for balls. Many ball boys got stoned to death mid match.

Spotters guide has arrived. Cheers Marek. 👍
Nice one dude. Happy spotting

Thanks cool dude.
I love these vids…. Thank you, Marek for taking the time to bring us along.

Ah yes, I did not do my research properly. Thanks cool dude and apologies to Dr. Beeching.
Another fantastic video Marek! Keep them coming because you're helping to keep a smile on so many faces during lockdown :)
Thanks Gabe, that is a nice thing to say. Stay cool.
2 year anniversary of this majestic video!
Ha. That was one of my favourites. I saw so much wildlife in that one.

Sandown? I honestly thought he said Sadaam.
Good luck Marek, but especially everybody else.

I can't get over how cute that mouse was.
It was incredibly cute.
Model village is great. Highly recommended & the pub up the road does the best food.
Yes I finally managed to visit the Model Village on the Cool Dudes Trail video. I think the pub might be The Griffin.
Also those old tube trains are the stock dating back to 1938 that have been refurbished.
Apparently they are getting new ones soon (well new old ones).
As always, a great video. Thank you

I never realised I would hate camping so much.
I loved this. Love the island. Nice one marek. 😀
Thanks Alison. The island is an incredible place isn’t it.

amazing! really feel this story should be made into a movie :)
I forgot about that part. I just remember us all talking about it one English lesson when we heard you'd qualified.
Great video, and really quite interesting. Cool 🦊👍

The weather was windy but I survived.
@@cdwc phew!
I think the most amazing Isle of Wight fact is that we manage to have two river Yars on an island about 25 by 20 kilometres in size

There are two river Yars on the island, one in the east and one in the west. Sleep well tonight!
Good answer.
I just found and subbed. I look forward to supporting the content..

Dracula is buried there. I like the idea of trolley, but too big to drag over tens of miles.

Its a cracking island Marek, if you want to lower weight a tarp is the way to go.
You are brave doing that. I can barely sleep in a tent.

Brilliant, I really love this. I wonder how many extra kilometers you do with all those shots of you walking away from the camera?
Ha. As few extra steps as possible.
How long are you hoping to do the South Downs Way in?
I did it in seven days.
I'll look forward to the video, hoping to do the walk next Spring.
Was that church in an episode of dr who?
Sorry don't know dude.
Seeing as we are made of mostly water, and water is life, would that make that stump the Tree of Life?
Good point. They should have at least made it into a fountain.
Cool dude 121 here... there seems to be a lot of grass in England. Did the English invent grass Marek?
Yes to celebrate the demise of Bushrangers.
