Wow Lauren, that’s an amazing lesson for us old guys. I feel like I hit levels where my playing sounds boring so due to lack of interest I’ll put my guitar down for a week or two. All I do is play chords and sing along, many times praise and worship type of songs. Thanks for the lesson
Wow! Thanks so much for this! So fun to play and work on! Thanks for your videos. I "do" know how much work goes into making these videos, so thank you so much as a fellow creator. You are getting me back, and all fired up. Thanks so much.
thank you very much for this awesome chords lesson Lauren !!!! I was having a lot of trouble with my barre chords for major and minor chords and was also having lots of trouble with the C major open chord in particular too, but now thanks to your wonderful lessons here on UA-cam you have now solved all my musical problems !!! now I can play a C major open triad chord and all the minor triad open chords using only 3 strings ! :) thanks heaps Lauren ! you rock :)
❤ Older people need a force like you. I like the simplicity and clarity of your lessons and I subscribed just now and I will try to apply it to the cheap 12 string guitar 🎸 I finally want to get after.
great lessons thankyou... i have played piano my whole life and have always wanted to learn guitar too and these lessons are easy to follow... much appreciated thanks
This video should be essential for everybody who wants to start playing by illustrating you can do chords. Thanks to this video after years on/off I am starting to enjoy playing Thanks Lauren 🙏
I like these lessons and they are helping quite a bit. Also wanted to point out to the viewers that if Lauren is talking too fast, you can go to settings and slow down the speed to 3/4... that has helped me to actually move from fret to fret with less fretting about whether I can keep up... :)
Please don’t anyone consider this cheating because as a general rule, the more difficult a chord is to play, the worse it sounds on an acoustic guitar. I rarely play six string chords on an acoustic, unless three or four of the strings are open. Compared to the angelic sound of open strings ringing out in celestial harmonic overtones and the mahogany and spruce resonating like the vaulted ceiling of a gothic Spanish cathedral, a fretted barre chord sounds like a rusty cowbell on a dead cow that’s being beat with a broken mop handle.
If you’re fingerpicking can you thumb the E - A-D to create a bass rhythm? Thank you for the helpful video btw. I’m knocking on a bit and find this particularly useful.
Is this 3 chord listed on print out for me to practice? I love your videos, I am slow with arthritic hands and sore fingers but I play for 15-20 minutes. I sound terrible but am enjoying it. I tried music lessons when I was much younger. They were terrible and not fun. Thank you for all you do that let's us older folks just enjoy.❤️
I have a damaged tendon in my third finger and can't use it at all. I have been playing for years and was unable to progress. I just found this video and it gave me some inspiration to progress. Do you have any videos on playing scales with just two fingers. I have watched players like Django Reinhardt on video but just can't seem to work out how to easily do scales with two fingers. Thanks
@@LaurenBateman Thanks for the reply. I tried that a long time ago but it was just a bit too painful. I have thought about learning left hand, but that is a nightmare.
know you Have top Shelf Taylor.. what String set n gauge are they?...like to restring fender DN I have....too ruff they are...most comfortable play I get is on a TeleCaster with no name.... thanks for all your videos,,,even though I skimWatch I do add it to what I already know and play...and 10days in....been a improvement ... (edited. Typo correction)
I do now. Yes, I couldn't afford one for the longest time. It was a birthday present to myself after all the hard work I did. First new guitar in 10 years. It came standard with Elixir 12s Phosphor Bronze but I switched them out for D'Addario 11s Phosphor Bronze.
God bless you, Lauren! I thank you and my Arthritis thanks you. Lol You've been a major Godsend throughout my entire guitar journey. You are for sure my rock and roll Yoda! lol
Quick question, Lauren. When you were naming the notes, you referred to A sharp. I've often heard that same note referred to as B flat. Are those terms interchangeable?
I got lots of chords I practice butI get confused by the naming, usually peddle tone the E then hammer bottom 3 MINOR and I’ll work it up and down neck if I feel DANGEROUS I’ll add pinch harmonics .
I'm 73 and was looking for something to do and I bought a Baritone Ukulele because my arthritis would not allow me to bend my middle and ring finger in the vertical position to avoid hitting two strings at once. Is the a splint that us old guys can buy to get those fingers bent correctly to fret successfully? Hopefully my Uke career does not go down in flames.
Oh know. That can be very tricky. The best thing to do that I have done with my students in the past is use simplified chords like this to help them play.
🧢👔AN ABSOLUTE perfect lession for a depressing day pondering the State of the World. I so needed to stop worring about that damn muted G string in every chord I play. THANKS cheers ..
HELP... ok, I have an issue with the ends of my fingers being to squishy. I press the strings with the ends of my fingers but my fingers spread out and hit the string below. if I move my string finger up a little it hits the string above. what can I do about squishy finger tips?

Thank you so much for your awesome lessons, Lauren. Can you please make a video for the song "run away to mars"? :)
I just don't know when will I be able to do it but I will definitely keep your suggestion in mind for future videos :D

Hmm, you might want to work on making your pinky your go to VS the third.

Looks like you hit the nail, I mean chord, on the head, Thanks

Quick question, Lauren. When you were naming the notes, you referred to A sharp. I've often heard that same note referred to as B flat. Are those terms interchangeable?
For the most part, yes. ☺️
I got lots of chords I practice butI get confused by the naming, usually peddle tone the E then hammer bottom 3 MINOR and I’ll work it up and down neck if I feel DANGEROUS I’ll add pinch harmonics .
Punch harmonics are hard to do but a lot of of fun.

TONS OF PRACTICE
CAN BARELY REMEMBER A SCALES
BUT CAN NAIL PINCH 🤏 CONSTANTLY AT WILL
I came for the 2 chord learning.
I subscribed because of the TMNT!!!!
Thanks for watching! Keep on playing!
You had me at B minor.
Is there a print out for the two finger chords shown in this video?
Thanks for watching! We do not produce print outs.
Can you do this with an A9 Chord?
That I don't know the answer to readily.
I'm 73 and was looking for something to do and I bought a Baritone Ukulele because my arthritis would not allow me to bend my middle and ring finger in the vertical position to avoid hitting two strings at once. Oh know. That can be very tricky. The best thing to do that I have done with my students in the past is use simplified chords like this to help them play.
If I strum all strings doing either of the chords will it still be considered that specific chord of my fingers are placed?
If you strum all strings, no.
@@LaurenBateman thanks you are awesome and I'm learning a lot in my one month of learning
Wow. That's a lot of information. My old brain can't handle all that at once.
