I had a 505 SR new in 1987 with the 7 seat version. I had the optional GTi alloy wheels and a Blaupunkt radio cassette player. I was the envy of many as I unloaded three of my son’s band members, a complete drum kit, guitars, amps, stands etc. Happy memories, thank you!
This car reminds me when I was still a little kid. My late dad had this Peugeot 505 back in 1978, and this car was the first one I learned to drive in 1983 when I was still 15. And guess what, I still keep this car with me, still in pretty good condition.
WOW this is the kind of car that needs to be restored more often! Fun, lovable, European cars from this era are just the best, but rarely get the money invested in them that they deserve.
Only the Matra Rancho or a 3 door Range Rover existed then, as SUV's. That must be one of the most solid 505's I've seen in a long time. Here in Austria road salt claimed most of them.
It's beautiful and inspiring what you achieved with this 505. As a owner of a 505 it's a dream to reach that level of prettyness. One little constructive comment is that the valves in the engine are a little bit off in calibration; you can hear them knocking in idle and i can tell because when they're well adjusted they shouldn't sound at all. It's a very unique sound. After the wear and tear of the engine you shouldn't use the factory calibration. Keep up the good work and i'm sad that i live across the world because i would love to send my 505 to you guys to restore it
Not wanting to diminish your excellent work, but that 505 was in a very nice state of preservation and originality before you started. What an excellent base for such an epic project.
Hello Alcala - Daniel here from Australia again. I very much appreciated the interview at the end, that man will enjoy his new Peugeot. Hello Daniel, I am really proud and happy to read your comment, thank you very much to give us this value, really appreciate it! Best regards and big hug!
Really great to see this. I am currently restoring back to roadworthy condition two 505 GTI estates. Would love to know how you finished the silver trims on the roof gutter as it looked like the original trims were broken up.
I noticed that the back logos were not re-installed. I'm not a Peugeot fan, but it's a great feeling to see one of the cars I saw a lot while growing up in France being brought back in time.
This car is very popular among Arabs in North Africa because they used it as a taxi and it proved to be solid and durable and can travel up to a million kilometers.
@@alcalatechnology I'm from Indonesia, and I had one in 1988 when I was still at university, namely a 1981 Peugeot 505 GR manual transmission, production number 80, I know exactly what's on the bottom, especially the middle exhaust which often has holes due to rust. I memorize the engine parts because it still uses a carburetor. The temperature problem of Peugeot cars always haunts all Peugeot car owners in Indonesia, because in Indonesia the temperature is tropical so the temperature in the radiator is often problematic, finally I found a solution, namely, replacing the extra fan with a BOSCH brand Merchedez fan with 13 fan blades, so that more air is emitted. faster and cooler to the radiator, the results are quite successful but it is a bit noisy because the fan sound is a bit loud. And another problem is that the clutch pedal is very hard to press, so if you have a Peugeot you should choose an automatic transmission so you don't complain about the clutch pedal when the roads are busy and jammed.
Totally blown away. The work is FAN-TAS-TIC.... also, an American living in France and wanting an old French car to have restored is even more mind blowing. Finally somebody that doesnt do a porsche, merc, quatro. Kudo's!! Wish Alcala was closer, i'd have them do my 505.
