Awesome video! For those VW Jetta MK4 enthusiasts out there (that have experience with various coilovers), what is the best suspension system for a daily drive VW JETTA GLI 2004 2.8L VR6 24v (BDF) six speed. H&R, Bilstein, KW, Koni or KSport, or perhaps a mix and match, or something else? I want quality materials, able to go low (at least 2") and not too stiff. Any opinions out there? Please reply to my message.
How was the passenger side front? I did my rears but could get the front quite low enough. Will the control arm and stabilizing link removed be enough or does the cv axle need to come off as well?
How to do up that nut after the rubber top mount? Do you have to hold the shaft? Same as the top nut? Every video people leave this out and don’t show you.
One thing I wanted to see is the top perch on the front strut tower. On mine, when I lowered the car off the jacks. The top perch stood out of the strut tower about an inch and wasn't seated in the strut tower. How would a person fix this issue?
You should really mention that every single nut/bolt you took out is TTY and should absolutely be replaced! Other than that, very helpful video, I appreciate it!
Well idk if you know but there is no such thing as a tty nut...sooooo you are wrong...and none of use are going to replace EVERY single bolt we take out when we work on our cars..some of them should be replaced..some don't need to be..good day
Would stock ride height be 60mm? I'm going to be doing a suspension overhaul on my Jetta and I've found that all the stock components end up costing the same or more than a coilover setup. I just want stock ride height. Cheers!
Great video! My only concern would be using an impact gun on the top strut nut during final install / torque as it will cause the shaft to rotate inside the strut and could theoretically cause damage from what I understand. Proper procedure would be to counter-hold the strut center shaft while manually tightening the top nut to proper torque spec. Otherwise great instructions!
Usually the non-adjustable coilovers are less sensitive to this. Where as if you were to do this with a KW, which uses a rotory style adjustable damper this would ruin it. Best practice is to what you're describing.
@@jaxon.frandrup just fine actually, so far I’m pretty happy with em, they have me low enough and they perform OK (these are cheap coilovers don’t expect high performance). I’ve done a shit ton of miles on em so far too, probably like 10k already, I commute like crazy and do regular weekend roadtrips,so far so good.
@@Humblegrind710___ maxed out they actually rub against the front sway bar. I have the car maybe one and half finger height from rubbing front and back. Which still leaves plenty of room to adjust further. You can definitely go real low with these. Also, they are still on my car, little over 20k miles later (do deliveries in my car for work so lots of mileage) and they’re still performing wonderfully. For a budget coilover I’ve personally got nothing negative to say.
New bilstien rear shock top mounts are like £11 each, probably worth buying and adjustable drop links are like £30
This is the best video I’ve seen explaining everything! Thanks :)

Looks perfect. Thanks for the tutorial, can't wait to do mine.
Yeah I'ma cut one spring of them I need it lower
Are you going to eventually put a catback exhaust on the car?

Are the shocks adjustable aswell ?
how much was the coil overs and where did you get them.
is your top hat flush with the car on the ground?
Looks good, nice looking Jetta.
a parts link would have been appreciated.. thanks for the how to
When it comes to setting up the measurements and hight of the front and back coilovers how did you measure this to be even from front to back
How far out from the bottom did the front strut poke from the knuckle, I’m running these same coilovers abs they keep ripping boots
Who do you know that can hook up the discount on the coilovers in California

You either clamp the shock rod with vice grips or buy a strut nut tool and use a Allen wtench
where did you get the wheels from?
Nice vid keep going…support from the USA 💪🏽

Purple power flex strut bushings (I think that's what they're called)
@@justinbilbrey450 thanks
Yeah I won’t be able to do all that I’ll need someone to do it for me
how much did you drop from stock height on both front and rear?
Are these 17" wheels?
I have the same wheel gap and it looks horrible

What does TTY mean?
