    Really nice video and all the data needed.
    Only missed some info on, what looks like a round (dust or dirt), I meant...not rust shield, and was removed by grabbing the wings of it, and twisting a few times using a pair of plyers.
    My so-called repair manual doesn't even have the torque information! Even less, part number info, and quality pictures. So, thanks a lot for showing how the job should be done 👍👍👍

    Thanks for the step by step, I am planning on replacing my whole rear brake system on one of my Mk4s and this was prime!
    I have to say you went to all the trouble and didn’t clean up the rear carrier with the wire wheel… 🤦🏽‍♂️
    Other than that looking good though. Can’t wait to refresh mine. I am upgrading to the larger brakes from the 20th anniversary (it’s a 20th clone build) so I’m pumped. I already have the calipers from a GLI and the matching oversized dust shields. I still need rotors and new pads while I’m in there. I’ll probably just get new stub axles too so I don’t have to remove the race.

      Thank you! I need new carriers actually. The rust has gotten the best of them. Good luck on your 20th anniversary clone build! That's pretty cool.

      @@Corysdiyauto yeah, the good news is once you replace all this dying stuff on these old beauties the car runs like new again… 💸
      Thanks it’s been a very fun project! I have another daily mk4 that I am doing a manual swap on that I’ve refreshed most of it and is very reliable.

    That bearing race you removed why didnt you put a new one on? Genuine question do you need a new one? Im planning on doing this next week whole new rear end including axel, hubs, bearings, sensors the whole lot

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  9 місяців тому +4

      I installed the new hub bearing with the race attached. When you pull the old bearing, the race gets stuck on the stub axle unfortunately. You'll see what I mean when you do the job.

    hi, where do I find information on torque values that are necessary for the correct install of various bolts?

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  5 місяців тому

      You can search online for the torque specs. There's a wide variety of information out there for these cars. You can also get a Bentley service manual which includes the torque specs.

      @FantaLaStrada 5 днів тому

      @@voitano73 I'm doing the job now and I agree with you since the hole for the dust shield is bigger than the stub axle hole. I just tried taking out the speed sensor and it felt like the sensor was welded to the stub axle. Luckily I'm replacing the stub axle since it is bent so I just bought another one. That being said the video was really good and I'm using it to replace my stub axle/bearing, etc..
