Yeah Costa Rica and Central American cichlids are SO underrated in the hobby , probably because there isn't alot of farms like this one working to get all these beautiful fish in the hobby...I hadn't even heard of half these fish but wow I want them all!!!
The Fishy Life ! Central American cichlids are the Crown Jewels of the hobby, the reason you don’t see them very often is because their size. I have a vieja Melanura male just under 16 inches.
@@jcgarcia.4474 I'm sorry bro I strongly disagree with "crown Jewels of the hobby.. everyone knows that the hobby is dominated by S.A. cichlids whether discus, Oscar or geophagus (the real crown Jewels) but certainly central American cichlids are underrated and particularly Costa Rican cichlids like the world famous dovii but I think most LFS and fish stores you would be lucky to see a handful of central American cichlids if that...?
This fellow loves his fish. I totally enjoy listening to him speak. The very cool thing is here we are spending thousands of dollars on an aquarium, nice gear and scape etc. He raises healthy fish in his concrete containers, love his minimal use of nets, his knowledge and passion. Thanks Ryan!
That vieja was spectacular. So many juicy cichlids. (Note to self....start buying bigger tanks). I can see the lucky schmuck with a greenhouse like this some day. 😉👍
TM Aquatics Great question. I haven’t really looked into it but Aquafunk mentioned to me just the other day there are places buy him in Tampa that sell them...I think he said they’re at least a few hundred each
Those were some amazing looking cichlids! I remember when the nicaraguensis and the trimaculatus were popular, also the vieja, Central American cichlids are very, very interesting fish!!
Wonderful video brother I love these videos you make of the farms. You do a wonderful job showing these breeders and beautiful fish. These videos give me inspiration
I was kinda hoping that he would give out details as to the water he was using. I heard something like well water. but South american cichlids like soft water. It would be interesting to hear how he process his water to suit the South American Cichlids
Great cichlids, breeder and video! Did you get any of these 🐟? I'm really interested how he would setup an indoor fishtank with them, like tank size, parameters, decor, how many fish together in the tank, etc.
I didn’t get any this trip. Perhaps I’ll do another video in the future talking about how to best keep them as hobbyists. Some of them are monsters but I think there were plenty that can be kept in something like a 40 breeder or 55
By the look of his cauliflower ears, PROBABLY not a man you want to get on the wrong side of either hahahah!! Excellent fish breeder and more then likely tougher then nails hahaha!! Great video! Nice to see a guy from Russia living the American dream and doing well! I enjoyed this video!!
You found an unknown gem there Ryan, finders fee for you! ;p Wow, he has some nice fish. Do you know what he is doing? IE is he here as a professor of Ichthology to teach and study fish on a visa. Did he emigrate or immigrate? Whats his story is I guess what I'm asking, if you know.
I believe he has immigrated here as of about 4 years ago and is staying with his wife here. I don’t believe he came to teach or study but he did work for a fish farm for a while after moving but now just runs his hatchery on their own property.
Tell Max that if he is collecting from the wild for breeding!~ He has to work to get what he is looking for, by way of generations of tank raised fish~ Third and forth generation will reproduce better and get more smaller eggs of many!~ If they are an issue with not good production from the start!
AMAZING African Cichlid Fish Farm! ua-cam.com/video/KgHXSebrwLg/v-deo.html

RIP MAX Cichlids Business!
It would be great to see some of these fish in clear home tanks sometime. Good luck to him.
If he gets his wish, they will become more popular in the hobby

The fishes are pretty but the farm is bit dirty. The hunk owner needs to check on that too.😊
did anyone notice that fish fall between cells at about 16:50
Sup Ryan... keep up the great work bro !!.. Would eventually like to get Red dovii from them in the future 💦🐟

What kind of tank is this?
Considering how his trip turned out this is sad to look back on

Do you export to us
Cauli ear
Dude cheated on his wife and left to Central America and isn’t in the fish game anymore, what a shame since he had some of the rarest in the hobby
