You made a great point about the difference between Suga/Agust D and RM, which is actually the same point I try to make often. They're both amazing rappers and lyricists, but there's a major difference in their rapping. Suga's lyrics focus on raw emotion, trying to make the listener really feel the emotions he wants to convey. He likes to write lyrics to tell his story and express his emotions. RM on the other hand focuses on a lot of social commentary and stuff like that, and he's a big fan of using clever wordplay (seriously, it makes it 110% better when you understand enough Korean to catch all the wordplay and references he makes). He expresses emotion too, but not the same kind of raw emotion Suga does. That's why I hate when people compare them (I don't mean saying you like one over the other, because that's totally fine - I just mean saying one is better than the other). They have two very different approaches to rapping/writing lyrics, and when they do songs together they play off each other really well. :)
I completely agree with the knowing enough korean part. Most of their songs blew my mind all over again and even more when i started understanding enough korean to understand the wordplay and words that aren't very well translated into english. I can't imagine how much more i'd appreciate them if i became fluent in korean and understood the more difficult words they use
I mostly agree with what you said about their rap lyrics, and I love both Suga and RM, but the only thing I would add is that RM DOES write those type of very emotional lyrics, too. Some of the slower, more lyrical songs on his mixtape speak to his more personal feelings, and then he also writes a lot of lyrics for BTS songs. And not just for the rapping parts of the songs. From interviews I've seen, it seems that most, if not all, of the lyrics for Spring Day (a very emotional song) were his. And of the solo songs that each member has done, he wrote his own, Reflection, but then he also wrote the lyrics for Jungkook's Begin, and many of the lyrics for V's song 4 O'clock. There are many other songs that he wrote lyrics for, of course, but those are just a few of the really emotional, touching songs that come to mind off the top of my head.

In the discussions I've seen about this song, Jimin said he composed the song a while back, but hadn't been able to finish it. Then he got very emotional at the Citifield concert in NY in Oct. 2018, and that inspired him to finish it. He then asked Namjoon for input on the English lyrics and to help him polish it, but Namjoon did not write the song for him. Here's one quote from Jimin (translated, of course, so we're all depending on the translations being correct.) "Honestly, making this song, I thought of the amount of people who live hurting alone, unable to speak of their innermost feelings, and so I made this with the thought that it would be good if this song could be a small solace to them." He's also said it was a promise to himself, and a promise between him and Army to take care of each other. It's knowing your own self-worth and loving yourself, not just about dieting.

You really should watch the Namjoon shines as a Leader video. I would be willing to bet that he lets the other members outshine him occasionally on stage 100% intentionally. The video shows how the group came to visit him when he was filming Do You and how he insists the rest of the group take credit for awards and things like that. But then you get things like Joke where he's like "Oh, I'm sorry, I got all caught up in being a good leader and ya'll forgot that I'm a RAP MONSTER." hahaha

I know I keep commenting on this video, but it's my favorite one you guys have done so far. I want to tell you, don't feel bad about comparing them to other artists or whatever. A friend of mine said that if you compare a musician to 12 different other artists, and they all have a different sound, that's when you know you've got a true original on your hands. RM can rap like Busta Rymes, Eminem, Migos, and Wale! And sing like the bass in a barbershop quartet. And his flow changes soooooooo many times in this video because he is intentionally showing off his adaptability. #RMbias

It's really great to see you genuinely enjoying and appreciating BTS's rapline! I think another one you might like is The Last by Agust D (Suga/Yoongi), it's a very powerful and emotional rap about his past and how he has dealt with depression but how he can be proud of himself now. I watched most of your reactions and saw you asked who our favourite is in one of your earlier videos. I've always found it hard to choose a favourite cause of their different styles. RM likes to use very lyrically advanced rap which makes it fun to read the lyric breakdowns of songs he has made. Suga tends to use a lot of distinct scenarios and situations he's encountered in his rap and brings it in a powerful way. You'll often hear Jhope use very melodical rap or switch from singing to rap, which may be due to the fact that he has a great voice and had vocal training (Suga and RM had a background in rap but Jhope only in dance and BigHit intended for him to debut as a singer in BTS at first). They're all able to put a lot of emotion in their rap and have grown so much since their debut, which you probably have heard in the cyphers. Hope to see more of the Rapline and BTS on your channel and thank you for loving them!

The person who said you compared BTS to Chris Brown probably just felt salty. We all know that Chris Brown has done shit in his life but seriously, who hasn't? At the end of the day Chris Brown is one of the great Artists in the pop industry with great talent, singing and dancing and he has perfected both. So, comparing BTS to Chris Brown should be taken like a compliment. Some people just don't know how to make light of a situation and not get triggered by everything. We know that BTS fought very hard to be where they are and that Chris Brown did his thing but if someone is new and don't BTS then some times to get a better feel of something or to feel comfortable they sometimes compare. It's not that bad because we all know that Chris Brown is one of Jimin's mentors. We tend look up to the people we want to be like but have to work in our own style. What if he had said that they reminded him of Micheal Jackson? Many people were inspired by him. There is nothing wrong with it. However, I do know that some times *stupid* fan-wars break out because of 'comparisons' and people try to refrain from them but I assure you that it's mostly very immature people who get easily triggered by these sorts of things. The whole point of this was to tell you "dude just ignore those salty people you're gonna catch up with some on here." There are the rude people and there are the other people who would simply tell you why they'd prefer to refrain such comparisons.
It's so funny cause lyrics wise this is RM, but personality wise (or at least the personas we see from them usually) this is more so what Suga is like. lol I mean *all* 3 of the rap line are actually like, funny and a bit dorky lol and silly and sweet at* heart*, but I just mean the flow and the energy you are more likely to see from RM off stage is much more docile to Suga lol RM gets me cause he loves old school vibes the most while Suga and J-hope come through with the Trap styles, so I think I can see why you guys catch a good vibe from RM more too ^___^

I read somewhere that Joke was written with two fold purpose: to demonstrate his awesome flow and; as commentary on the growing number of rappers who release songs in which the lyrics make no sense but are popular because of their flow. He purposely uses hard to follow lyrics to this effect.

It's really great to see you genuinely enjoying and appreciating BTS's rapline! I think another one you might like is The Last by Agust D (Suga/Yoongi), it's a very powerful and emotional rap about his past and how he has dealt with depression but how he can be proud of himself now.
I watched most of your reactions and saw you asked who our favourite is in one of your earlier videos. I've always found it hard to choose a favourite cause of their different styles. RM likes to use very lyrically advanced rap which makes it fun to read the lyric breakdowns of songs he has made. Suga tends to use a lot of distinct scenarios and situations he's encountered in his rap and brings it in a powerful way. You'll often hear Jhope use very melodical rap or switch from singing to rap, which may be due to the fact that he has a great voice and had vocal training (Suga and RM had a background in rap but Jhope only in dance and BigHit intended for him to debut as a singer in BTS at first). They're all able to put a lot of emotion in their rap and have grown so much since their debut, which you probably have heard in the cyphers.

The person who said you compared BTS to Chris Brown probably just felt salty. We all know that Chris Brown has done shit in his life but seriously, who hasn't? At the end of the day Chris Brown is one of the great Artists in the pop industry with great talent, singing and dancing and he has perfected both. So, comparing BTS to Chris Brown should be taken like a compliment. Some people just don't know how to make light of a situation and not get triggered by everything. We know that BTS fought very hard to be where they are and that Chris Brown did his thing but if someone is new and don't BTS then some times to get a better feel of something or to feel comfortable they sometimes compare. It's not that bad because we all know that Chris Brown is one of Jimin's mentors. We tend look up to the people we want to be like but have to work in our own style. What if he had said that they reminded him of Micheal Jackson? Many people were inspired by him. There is nothing wrong with it. However, I do know that some times *stupid* fan-wars break out because of 'comparisons' and people try to refrain from them but I assure you that it's mostly very immature people who get easily triggered by these sorts of things.
The whole point of this was to tell you "dude just ignore those salty people you're gonna catch up with some on here." There are the rude people and there are the other people who would simply tell you why they'd prefer to refrain such comparisons.

You know what you should put your title in Korean too and add tags in korean( juss use google translate k hip hop etc etc) you might get korean clout and i swear they'll love you and LEARN a lot from you as well about what's REAL hiphop. also not necessary but you can have a korean speaking person translate your commentary as well.
Also about the song, RM wrote this targeting those "real" rappers who give him shit for not rapping fast or not always focusing on rhyme and questioned his skills and credibility as a rapper or talking about generic stuff like fame girls money cuz you know thats what they think is "cool". So he did this song not just to show off his skills but also as a satire where he mocked those "real rappers" who talk nonsense and random shit just to make their bars rhyme and completely lack substance which is why the bibidi babidi boobidi part. Also this song has CRAAZYY amount of wordplay like it's literally ALL wordplay and rhyme. He really went hard on this and deserves respect. Which is why I said you should put your titles in korean as well and react to k hip hop stuff(if you dont already) because khh fans could learn a lot from you. Love y'all! x
