Lyrics:
The corpse master presides
Over congregation zombified,
Indoctrinating the populace.
A military nation.
Upon the eve of war.
Inflicts retaliation.
On enemies in distant shores.
Gripped by an iron hand.
Military industrial.
Exterminating the dissident voice.
A military nation.
Upon the eve of war.
Inflicts retaliation.
On enemies in distant shores.
The fog of propaganda. Instilled across generations.
Inhibits thought, Sapping vital motivations.
Proliferation instead of disarmament.
Destined to fail, meltdown is imminent.
Overlord overthrown.
(Overlord overthrown.)
A challenge to rise from the rhetoric,
(Overlord overthrown.)
Dismantle dictators and rancorous politics.
a decade later this still sounds fresh and innovative, thanks to the original power trio
me tonight just thinking about them, haven't listened in like 8 or 9 years. that fucking solo at the end is so unexpectedly groovy and jazzy and bluesy and metal just... ugh
@@phylazen5649 indeed bro!
NETHERHEAVEN OMFG epic evolution 🤘🏻💀
my god, has it been a decade already?
@@hisaceinthehole3426 It's terrifying, isn't it? More like 14 years, too.
The fact that his solos are so bluesy but NEVER feel out of place in their songs is absolutely mind boggling
This is a shining example of what a metal band should be; fun, heavy and extremely talented. Dave is an immense guitar player, makes me want to pick mine up and just rock out.
Kevin Hall Well he is an excellent talent in heavy metal but he is also easily comparable to Alexi Laiho of Children Of Bodom who is the Hendrix of melodic death metal. Which also means that with the brilliance in this song Dave of Revocation is the Hendrix of technical death metal. Or uh? Well at least that’s what I think in my opinion basically. Yeah I know what you’re thinking. Why did I compare both Dave of Revocation and Alexi Laiho of Children Of Bodom to Jimi Hendrix? Well they are both vocalists and are lead guitarists who have similarities to Jimi Hendrix in their own style and in their own way.
Yes
There's enough metal in this song to rebuild the Twin Towers
+yann boo There was enough metal in that comment to rebuild the planes too
Butthurt as fuck ^^^^
+EnTystMinut what a twat
+Nick Law HAAHAHAHHAAHAHAAHAAHAHAHAHAAH
Holy shit that escalated quickly haha went from best comment to a random shitty insult and then tacked some racism at the end lol how come people who comment are so angry all the time? you just need to take a deep breath, chill out and listen to the music. metal music brings people together, no need for your hate and racism here bro. And the comments are for giving your thoughts on the music, not for trying to start a fight you will never see through \m/
Davidsons facial expressions make me happy
Beards Are Metal kinda reminds me of the guy in your profile picture..
Solarious Eclipsicus Damn lol
Just like Russell Crowe
Check out the drummer from Brutal Truth, they should make a band together
There's a certain beauty to the acoustics of a 3-man metal band. Each instrument really gets to shine, especially the bass guitar. In this case, he's clearly allowed enough wiggle room to add fills and lines that don't compromise the sound, and he isn't following the guitar (during the solo bit), he's clearly audible, laying down a solid groove. Really reminds me of Rex brown's work.
Rex?
Pantera, dude.
+Locke Lool
guitar follows the bass ;)
Jack Stieben Haha, a great bassist can make the band follow him.
00:21 drummer's face.
I saw that and immediately checked the comments to see if any one else caught it. Love it!
Reggie Postlethwaite xDDDD
Fuckin love Phil Dubois
TJ Jensen he has only PAST BANDS in Metal Archives (Encyclopaedia Metallum), I would like so much to hear him back with a band. OK, I made the joke about his face, because he's a funny guy and we all got it, but I like A LOT his precision and "minimalism" (meaning he's rich in his work but he doesn't play unneeded beats) in drumming.
He plays in a band called Shark Eyes currently, although they don't have much presence in the media
People saying " this is their only song worth listening to"
Have you heard their self titled album?! That shit kills from start to end!
Dawg erry release.
I know your comment is old but I love the breakdown and solo to this song... I really haven't font another one of their songs I want to listen to again
I would rep deathless instead or terato but yeah their self titled is actually pretty underrated.
Grip Tightens.... Is their first song I heard from them
everything's better with a jazz bass
I really dig what that bass player is doing. Adds a lot.
2:56 when your hitting it from behind and she screams "overlord!"
😂😂😂
This was the first song of them I listened, and now I'm in love of this band, their latest albums are brutal and amazing!
Tony Thrash but definitely not as good as this one in my opinion
This song is what made me a Revocation fan. I remember everyone hating this song when it first came out. Ppl were literally bashing the solo. I was like how the hell...its an amazing solo!
Groovy as shit
Yep this is what made me get into Revocation. I recorded this from one of the episodes of Headbanger's Ball around 2010/2011. Thought the guys looked like nerds, but once I heard them playing I was sold.
Same
Taste. You either have it or you don't
This is true talent.
Sid from Toy Story?
Thanks now I can't unsee it lmfao
You're welcome dude.. Greetings from Mexico
Wait what does Sid have to do with this song?
The Guitarist looks like Sid became real and started a Death metal band.
drummerdude0515 Sid even wears an edgy tee in toy story and fucks up toys. Now that I think of it Sid was fucked in the head hahaha
Parts like 1:26 are the reason I get so many speeding tickets.
I don't understand how anyone can get to be that good at the drums
Christy Rattigan practice practice practice so much practice peep the muscles
Felicia Hobbs... you're forgetting another crucial element: more practice.
Christy Rattigan all of them for matter of fact
2:45 Dave slidin' into yo girl's DMs like...
this is an absolute musical gem that will withstand the tides of time
Someone said the vocal ruined this goddamn motherfucking craziness. I say David Davidson pushes Death Metal and Highly Technical Thrash Metal into another stage. He's the shit !
If vocals matter to you that much you shouldn't listen to music haha. David Davidson's a genius I agree.
SinnedNogara yes he is, I think his the reincarnation of Chuck from Death
We must do whatever we can to support this band, buy merch, go to shows, preorder shit. I'd want to see them get on huge tours like with Lamb of God eventually
the vocals are too hard-core inspired for my taste in death metal at times.
Sylosis do the same, but better.
Jazzthrash :D
Technical deaththrash jazz metal, please
Thrashmetalkicksass
Post-Progressive-Technical-Jazz-Death-Thrash-Funnyfaces-Core.
Neo post progressive blackened death jazzcore with influences of hungarian thrash polka.
Metal
It's actually Progressive Death/Thrash.
It really doesn't matter how many times I listen to this or see it performed, it's still amazing every time.
that
solo is amazing!
how can he sing at the same time he's playing so sick guitar riffs! O.o
i wish i could so.
+Pierre-Paul Kasongo
Dude's a maniac. I admire his work quite a bit
+Donovan Gordon i'm certain you do too. are you playing guitar too?
Oh, most definitely
I just wish that I could play as amazingly as the man onscreen haha
he doesnt sing xD
I imagine he dedicates insane hours to being able to do this.
These guys are like a heavier Coroner, first time listening, already in love
Beautiful no frills metal - Normal Dudes with crazy skills rocking out in their favorite metal t-shirts! this is exactly what heavy metal needs....and thank God for no emo haircut.
This song got me into Revocation over 10 years ago. Still one of their best songs
@purguetheplaguehow was the show?
Why the fuck does this song have so many dislikes?
Oh man I love how that jazzy, funky break fill that starts at 1:15 turns into the staight shredding at 1:26 ! It's like going from instant wobbling into instant headbanging!
These guys are my Beatles
dude this song. i was in 11th grade in high school when it came out, my buddy and i sitting in my volvo in an applebees parking lot BLASTING it, the most epic last 30 seconds of all time hahaha
Man I remember the first time I saw this how blown away I was like "Wait it's a fucking trio??" Some of the most fun I've ever had at a show was the entire crowd of the small club I was in shouting "over lord. over thrown!" what a great time.
This guy's one of the few metal guitarists nowadays that can write solos that are actually interesting.
Jazzy as duck
What an amazing metal song. 2009 when people thought metal music died. These were one of the guys who were bringing it back to life. great solos, headbanging riffs 2:20 is a great example I jump around every time I hear it, not sure dancing or headbanging, blast beats everything you need in a metal song is in dismantle the dictator \m/
Just discovered this band. Needless to say, I'm addicted already.
his slayer tshirt says everything
Love this song a lot of bands just dont let it fly and jam out. They most definitely do.
Hope you are having a great day my man
Haters are gonna hate. In my opinion Revocation is one of the best metal bands to come out in the last ten years. They are not straight death, thrash or any other genre of metal. They are trying new stuff. Mixing it up. In a lot of their songs I hear thrash, death, blues, and jazz. I could listen to them all day long. Let the haters hate the rest of us can sit back and enjoy this unique music experience.
oh my god. this has to be some of the greatest metal I've heard in years. every one of these guys just slays at their instrument. especially Dave Davidson. you can tell he just loves be OK no so creative on the guitar and throwing so many different scales and styles into one song. such incredible talent. the lead work is especially creative.
David Davidson makes sweet, sweet love to that guitar
Saw these guys last night open up for bodom. They have some of the most brutal pits ever, and are just great live! America finally put out a great Extreme metal band. It's been a while.
Holy fuck this has almost been out 10 years. That thrash bit is still the most adrenaline inducing sections of music
the drummer is a fuckin beast! rarely to see drummer with such a ripped body.
Havok drummer is pretty fucking ripped too!
He's a beast for sure, but he's not THAT ripped.
what a homosexual comment.
nocontrol628 wow.. we got a gay dude were shouting himself as a homosexual.
Dady Ramadhan no,your comment just sounds really homosexual.
First time I heard this song I was like... "Whoa, pretty brutal". Then 3:04 came and I instantly new this would become my new favorite band.
Best song they have ever made! The technic, the groove, the humor and the Rock'n'Roll!! :)
I think we take for granted the wild genius that these kids are able to express sonically. If you don't appreciate this the problem is not the band or music. It's the listener
It's 2021. I'm listening to this one for the first time. And it's a super crazily amazing song.
How many are here in 2021?
Euhm, anyone who dislikes this song should look at Revocation's later stuff, they progressed a lot since this song and album. Teratogenesis is one of the best EPs in metal I've heard in the last few years
I still prefer this to their latest stuff. It is more in your face, maybe less elaborate (but this was complex, too!!), but more powerful. Yes, Teratogenesis and their latest self-titled album are works of art, but it seems they've been made by another band.
You dont have to try and make people like this. You like it or you dont. I love it, and hope all the haters go back to the balls stuffed into butthole pages where they belong, or The White Stripes page.
amazing song especially for a 3 man band
I remember when this video had half the views it does now and every one was hating on it. Revocation has been one of my favorite bands for a long time, and David Davidson is one of the coolest people I've ever meet. I am glad Revocation is getting the respect they deserve.
Revocation is like a last breath for thrash. The whole genre is dead, but Revocation is inspirational enough to keep it alive.
Holy crap. How talented can a band get? This is =or> anything!
The guys in this band were very lucky to find each other.
if only their other songs sounded like this :/
GheyForGames Check the new CD
Alberto Razo hmmmmm okay then
GheyForGames yep. this is the only worth listening to. such a shame
Pete Smith Anything this band does is gold
Pete Smith Nahhhhh. Their Debut and third album are better than this.
Uuhhggg....this song is everything you could want.....blistering bass....complicated harmonies/riffs....nice solos....i play this song for my friends :)
Wow! Amazing the talent here. It's unbelievable this dude does vocals over such complex riffs.
I love the music like this, where the vocals are more of a percussive attribute rather than melodic, and you can admire the musicianship of the song separately from the lyrics. Instruments>any vocals all day.
perfectly put good sir!
If you haven't already, give KEN Mode a listen, they're also a three piece and their vocals are anything but melodic, but they aren't necessarily growls or shrieks.
I would highly recommend the album "Success"
Even the lyrics all by themselves are excellent. Very insightful and present.
Dave looks so young here :')
david davidson is one of the most innovative and talented guitarists out there.... Revocation is THE next step for thrash/death metal.... And those of you who have nt heard all their songs, do listen to the albums existence is futile and chaos of forms completely..... Almost every song is very well crafted!!
This band is so under rated..Look how many different styles they incorporate into this ONE song...Dave is a badass guitarist and deserves to be as big time..
Sounds like Dimebag and Chuck met in hell and developed a child.
Hell yeah
#Pantera
#Death
This is the best metal band of the 21st century!
This is one of the most awesome videos I have seen on youTube. As I am learning to play the guitar, both the lead and the bass totally amaze me. Maybe some day I can play the Hive. :)
Saw this guys with Dark Tranquillity at Mexico City...Damn, what a show!! pure fucking energy, great musicians. That concert was epic
whereisevan Have you listened to Exivious or Cynic? For me the pinnacle of the fusion Cynic - Traced in Air (Full Album)
killer solo!
I agree with you whereiseven...these guys are brilliant! It's the perfect mix of hard, heavy, brutal metal with oddly catchy hooks, incredible solo and breakdowns and it is ever changing and complex, yet the composition is amazing. I started playing classical piano when I was 2 and wrote my 1st song at 4, but I listen to every single genre (mostly metal though) and these guys are fantastic. This is easily one of my favorite songs ever.....
Only just started listening to these guys. Great band... but this song is all over the place.
remember other band, extol, playing thrash synergy
I wish revo would go back to making songs that have weird blues/jazz breaks in them. They're so straight metal now it's boring.
Yeah, I find their newer stuff kinda boring, which sucks because they're so talented. The first three records were amazing though.
Really? I find the last three records great.
The first three records were on another level though.
Jeffrey Dean it's back in Great Is Our Sin
also Deathless had some heavily hard rock inspired solos in it
Oh my god this is so good. Best random click of the day.
The reason why there are so many dislikes, because too many people let themselves get brainwashed into thinking that the watered down, mainstream shit is good music. They lack the ability to appreciate real talent when set in front of their face. I agree with you, this band is fucking AMAZING. One of my favorites of today's era. Plus, the fact that they're also from my city is pretty cool too.
This is what Zappa would've been writing had he grown up listening to thrash.
Technical Thrash Metal \m/
This is the perfect mix of death metal/thrash/jazz/blues. Amazing. I literally just got this cd 5 minutes after knowing of this band.
Still jamming one of the greatest metal albums of all time!
2024 and still unbelievable
Shit, I loved them when they were a trio. I love guitar solos with only the backing bass (Vulgar Display of Power like). Bass used to play a major role in Revocation then; to me they've lost some of their distinctive sound by hiring another guitar player (and of course with the departure of Anthony Buda).
Lol David's singing has changed! I switch onto this video after watching newer stuff and my first impression was - singing after inhaling helium :D
ive never heard of these guys before and it took only the first 20 seconds for them to have a new fan
still so fucking sick
Dave looks so weird without a beard!
Forcerinen shit i had to get used to dave having one!!
Why the hell are there people hating on this? It's brilliantly written in terms of technicality, the melodies are great, the vocals are equally so and it's well produced. These guys are also great live, and a bunch of nice dudes!
Show some respect. If you really don't like it and can't think of a decent reason other than, "It's shit", don't bother commenting.
Actually I just listened to the whole song. Man these guys are pretty badassed. I met go see them this coming week when they are in town
Some bands have 1 lead guitarist.
But a proper metal band has 2 lead guitarists.
I guess this was the band when it first started.
they now have a second guitarist.
Ezekhial you need a second guitarist and all, 1 to keep the power chords, the other to solo it out. that's how every metal band works.
I completly agree wih you, I personaly am involed with alot of musicians and understand how a piece of music is put together. I acctually enjoy large orchestrial type pieces such as apocolyptica. The band whitechapel has three guitarist which certainly adds a certain sound that is rather unique and enjoyable.
Amritpal Galsin go tell Motorhead that...
it gives it a certain sound that cannot be obtained with a single guitarist
. it isnt absolutely essencial as motorhead and this song proves
Do any chicks dig this tho?
+Akili Alexander yeah, I'm also wondering, anybody?
+Akili Alexander Metal chicks are the hottest.
David Philips lol agreed.
Yet I sense nothing a female can delight in-in a style like this..
+Akili Alexander haha I hear ya! I suppose if you can find a chick that digs this... KEEP HER!!!
"female" Smao
i turn on this song every morning to listen to while i get ready for work
i usually just end u sitting there and watching the whole video
Thank you, I will definetly check these out. I have already listened to some of their other stuff and it's very good :)
Oh dear. This band blows me away with every solo and everything is just as amazing.
This band were awesome when I saw them, really got the crowd going too, great banter, great performance and of course, great music.
this song is the one that hooked me on their music! totally cool!
These kats R throwin' down some tough, tight, heavy-duty grooves! Cheers, '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)
this band and song are both horrendously under appreciated/rated
Just when I didn't think it could get any better it went all super groovy at the end
This band is so all over the place, I like it. Solid death metal mixed with some almost RHCP vibes, which I'm not usually the biggest fan of that particular group, but this is pretty good.
This band is so good it fucking hurts.
When i discovered that band I thought exacly the same. "It's fucking awesome but It would be better with death growl". But after some time I got used to it, started liking it and now I can't imagine it any other way. It is perfect as it is. Getting used to these vocals took me a while but now I can fully enjoy it and it's ultra enjoyable.
Watched 'em live 2 months ago (mexico)... Awesome!!! It's all about minor thirds!!!
never heard of these guys before. the are pretty amazing. thank you youtube-mix
one guitarist gives such a sick aesthetic. Plus it lets the bass come through more. God these dudes were so tight as a 3 piece. Not saying they aren't tight now.
