Man, you are truly blessed to have been able to meet many of your family members. Your family history is so storied, and it comes from an historic tie between Britain and Jamaica. I know that there are many more British white families with ties to Jamaica; one has to just go to the cemeteries and read the headstones of many of these ancestors.
IMPORTANT--Some might or mightn't know that Myrtle Forbes-Heffes a sister of #HoraceForbes, whom lived in #Kingston #Jamaica passed away last week. Her funeral will be on Saturday the 4th of May She ~Myrtle , I think is the one that looks most like Horace. She was funny; I loved having conversations with her about everything, of course- including her early days in #ManchesterJamaica before moving to Kingston. SIP- Momzi

She and her cousin #BjornForbes travelled over from Kingston to Ocho Rios et al-- the other children you might or might not have met but you would have seen their photos in the video or elsewhere.
@MrAndyBradley She came up to Florida to her brother's Horace funeral, but I guess you probably wouldn't have had the chance\time to speak much Jan wanted to organize something in Kingston for you guys to come up to one afternoon; when you had the reunion- but her mom ( Myrtle) wasn't feeling too well at the time.
That photograph near the beginning where your grandfather was shaking the hands of the lady in Black. That's a former #Jamaican Prime Minister #PortiaSimpson #HoraceForbes was receiving one of many Awards, he was quite a huge star in #Jamaica
A similar story happened to my family in Jamaica also. When my grandfather (my father's dad) passed away in Jamaica I was 7 years old. Some European-looking people came to the funeral. Upon inquiring why were these people there, my dad told me that these were my Grandfathers, cousins, and nieces from England. It was surprising to know this. However, during the time my grandfather was alive, I have always noticed his lighter skin and his hazel eyes and I was very curious as to where those traits came from. Since the funeral, we never saw the English relatives again. Maybe some other relatives on our father's side of the family kept in touch with them but we didn't because my dad was an "outside child" member of the family from different relationships that my grandfather had, maybe 3 women. It is painful to not fully know who your relatives are. How much fuller our lives could be knowing them instead of ALWAYS wondering who they are and where they are now.
I enjoyed watching your video and seeing families connecting. It's like watching long-lost family, the UK TV episode, but in a holiday setting. Jamaica is beautiful. Hope to see the reunion in 2025.
