just hope you dont get a crack in the bottom . i loved mine but i didnt know previose owner hit something and didnt kow there was a hairline crack on bottom that foam chambers will slowly wick in water and you cant get it out my boat went from setting level while fishing to the back lip 4" above the water it was over time and not in one trip but after a number of 3 to 4 hour trips it was too late . the newer boats have a different foam in the log chambers it doesnt allow water to wick in . but they are fun to fish out of besides beating your kidneys up on rough days
I’m sorry to hear that ! I’m crossing my fingers there’s no cracks and this boat gives me a decent amount of time and fun out of it . I heard the rough ride when it’s choppy out from so many people but for a starter boat I’m willing to deal with it haha . Thank you for the information you rock !!!
The carolina skiff is not the best boat for certain things, but it’s the best to do everything with one boat you can buy. My 16ftr is my first boat in 1992 and will probably be my last. Gator hunting, offshore fishing, exploring creeks, island hopping gulf coast bays that are inches deep, it can do most everything pretty well if you drive it properly and don’t over weight it. Currently planning a 450 mile river trip in a few months. Have fun I still am all these years later.
Congratulations great start
