The Foundation's leadership is a bunch of self-proclaimed censors who think they know what "normality" is.
Completely fixated on people remaining blind and continuing to eke out a miserable existence, unable to reach the stars.
And they have completely lost the concept of responsibility - after all, they can simply erase everyone’s memory.
GOC, on the other hand, aims specifically to protect humanity.
And in the event of a global threat - they fight to the end, and where the Foundation simply would not pay attention to civilians (they almost never take them into account at all) - the GOC would try to save as many as they could.
They seem to be good guys - but we all remember what happened in Site 13 - where their true essence was revealed, namely that the GOC are scumbags who imagine themselves to be supernatural police, cold-bloodedly destroying everything that did not fit into their wretched ideas about the world.
If they had the chance they would do it again.
So they're not too different from them.
Both organizations are the greatest evil of this world.
I have heard many statements in the spirit of: Foundation/GOC are not evil, morality is indispensable for them and in general they are “gray”.
      This is complete nonsense.
Because where the gray ones reign, black ones always come to power.

How shitty the foundation is really depends on what timeline/canon we are talking about. This one is mostly good intentions (save for the arrogant prick Eugene Muller and the profit-making attempts) but without the intelligence to avoid making horrible things happen due to said good intentions. But there is a canon known as "Site-17 Deepwell Catalog" which is a timeline that basically has the foundation as a fundamentally corrupt organization, with the SCPs and tales in that canon pretty much showing the foundation of that canon to be a corrupt shithole.
On the other end of the spectrum, is the canon known as "From 120's Archives". In that one, the foundation is still incredibly fallible, but after a particular fae-related fuck up which I will not spoil the specific details of, results in a foundation that actively tries to do better. The foundation of that canon is still fallible, but they are actually good people for the most part in that timeline.

Did you notice btw, that the GOC didn't touch the tree when they took the site? They didn't destroy it just because it was anomalous. They have way more common sense than most people think and I think the hostility towards the GOC but not the SCP foundation mostly comes from people not reading enough articles or understanding where a lot of D-Class come from(The GOC does not use D-Class. In fact that is one of the biggest ideological differences between the 2).
If the SCP foundation had just cooperated and admitted what was happening to the GOC, when the GOC asked to cooperate, they could have possibly contained the infection, especially because other GOIs such as the Serpents Hand, CI and the Manna Charity Foundation found this so important that they were willing to team up with them. The Serpents Hand teaming up with who they call the book burners is a rarity indeed. If they had gotten a briefing on what exactly 6002 is and what the SCP foundation did to infect it they would have at least worked on a solution but because they were dealing with an infection they didn't understand, they mostly left it alone, while the only sensible person of the SCP foundation in this site did what she could while hiding in the tree, although I think she should have stopped working for the SCP foundation then and there and cooperated with the GOC, but she probably was too scared. Had the SCP foundation given the GOC information and samples from 106 and 682 maybe all of this could have been stopped before it infected the stem of the tree. Besides, if there would have been no quick answer, the GOC would have absolutely ripped the branch off before the stem could be infected, considering how they usually deal with threats.

    • @Shalltear773
      @Shalltear773 Рік тому

I think both groups are enormous idiots in their own ways. the GOC has destroyed relatively harmless SCPs whereas the SCP foundation makes some of the worst research decisions in the history of the universe, like applying anomalous material to an anomaly without first figuring out what the consequences would be. now if they'd just stop fighting and cooperate, shit like this probably wouldn't happen. but, you know, gotta keep that oh so "important" pride and secrecy 100% of the time with the Foundation... idiots

........ Why did they name one of the Aetern species after the scientific name of a real-world pterosaur genus? This SCP's use of scientific terms up to that point had been pretty solid, only for it to blindside us with using an extremely specific pterosaur's generic nomen as the common name of a fictional non-animal lifeform. That's such a baffling choice to me.

It meant to implied that Hatzegopteryx (Rapio maxima) was actually still alive to this present day, however due to the infection causing everything to kill off, the SCP Foundation managed with amnestics and other means to erase the knowledge of this pterosaur genus and the other Aetern lifeforms of ever existing in present day and then, they fabricated to tell that the Aetern species was extinct and not alive today.
"29 July 2020: Final known member of the kingdom Aeternae presumed deceased. Project 6002-ARK effort shifts to mass disinformation and memory editing. Strategies include: global deployment of Class-X amnestics via the jet stream and the water cycle; commandeering of media, government offices and institutions of higher education; expunging of all records regarding minor aetern species; and disguising of records regarding major aetern species via historical and social phenomena, including prominent fiction, the fossil record, cultural traditions and folklore, and conspiracy theories."
